I grew up about half a mile away from these caves and the day we stumbled across them at the age of 10 remains the single most exciting day of my life. It was like Indiana Jones come to life. You lot must be a bit weedy though because we could open and close both those big stone doors easily even when we were kids. Also, that mediaeval inscription by the inaccessible tunnel reads "I'll eat when I'm hongrye, I'll drink when I'm drye, if ye king's men don't fynde me, I'll live till I die." So we always assumed they were older than Victorian.
I've a suspicion that this place is some kind of oversized ice storage or food storage area, most probably used by the castle in days before freezers. Great video.
I keep thinking that one of these awesome adventures you guys are going to stumble upon some secret installation of some sort. Until then keep on going. Thanks!
Yo i was there today i live very local so I used it as my escape for the day I crawled head first about 20m into the very small tunnel on the left and in marker it’s said 15m then an arrow left can’t lie I got spooked so I crawled back it’s sand once you get about 5m in it’s like an I’m a celebrity trial in there and crawling backwards panicking was gross but when you next do this I’m happy to join they cleared it so it’s accessible it was chocked with random debris a few years back I’ve heard the locals say it opens into a carriage size pass also get a head torch bro look forward to seeing more of this.
Maybe the tunnels used to link in to the castle so that if it was ever besieged they could send out troops to get behind the enemy & surprise them. Guessing electricity would have been installed to provide for its use as a WW2 bomb shelter? I bet part of it was used for cool storage too though, unless the castle had big cellers.
Hello from saxony...These caves Look very old ...you can see a Lot of Marks from the Tools and the shape of the caves Looks perfekt...it do not Looks Like they using explosives...i have never Seen Doors Like that...what is it and how old ist it...
They put me in mind of the Hellfire Caves, which Sir Francis Dashwood had excavated in the chalk hills at West Wycombe, Bucks. The motto of the Hellfire Club was 'Do whatever you want', so you can imagine what went on down there! They're now open to the public.
Very cool. Perfect place for the coven initiations. I like the stone doors. 12:31 go back with gloves and knee pads and check out that hole. It's definitely a Folly. They built these things in the 1800's and had a live in hermit reside there. It's not a castle's refrigerator, It's not ancient, but does date to the 1800's. Look up Garden hermits. It really was a thing. Rich land owners would build these things and pay some dude to dress like a druid and live in the cave. The live in hermit would be consulted for wisdom or religious purposes.
18th century gaff for a Holy Hermit / Oracle. It was fashionable to employ someone to live in your garden Grotto back then. So Folly is about right. He wouldn't have been allowed to cut his hair or nails. The small opening is where people would have conversed with the oracle. Just like Delphi in Greece. The hidden doors are to give the impression of total isolation.
Cool get to see a video with my morning coffee. A Hobbit Cave or old christen church? I want to get a glow in the dark t-shirt but looks like from only the UK? But $43.00 plus tax way to much for a T. Maybe if I win the lotto.
They are braver than I! No way I would be closing a stone door that I could not pick up. What if it broke and got stuck? No way man! Lol

Your back, I was beginning to think you must have got yourselves locked up in one of those tunnels or trapped behind one of the doors you keep closing.
Soon Master Ian Master Chris you'll be enjoying the fabled hospitality of the dwarfs, roaring fires malt beer red meat off the bone. My cousin Balin called it a mine A MINE! 😅
Rubin Schmidt it's a line that Gimli says outside of Moria from Lord of the Rings I wasn't been serious! 😅😂🤣 I can't believe you took that as me been serious OMFG get a life!!"
id like to go on a search with Chris but not if his last film was 1999..sorry you lost points here Chris but I still Enjoy your channel and will still subscribe lol
Your actually right, the tom cruise remake of te mummy is a total pile of shit. The original mummy was not a bad film, worth a watch at least, but the cruise film is terrible. Just a total "look at me im tom cruise" movie. Cool tunnels though, reminded me of derinkuyu!

I'm betting it was a bunker or safe house for the war
IIRC The Lightworker tried out the small tunnel but got spooked down there, so its down to you to go in and film it :-)
Closer looking at the door that works looks like ogham writing meaning neolithic stone used for them I could be wrong though
Oh thats looks like a nice Place great work 👍✌😎
It also looks like there were symbols scratched into the wall by the stone door.
