IAM a woman and mother of Marines and if my daughter was to joint the corps I should think no double standards are right if you want to be a Marine then pull the same line as any man would have to. It's not a feminist line it called right and fair
They tried that once in Marine Corps Officer Training. The feminists said the females should have the same standards as the males. Every female failed.
As a former Marine i can confirm. I have 5 different prescriptions and i scored a 10 on my asvab but my recruiter hooked me up with an intelligence mos contract

To be fair, this may be a thing that changed with legend. Much like Jesus being born on Dec 25th. While I'm sure the birth of the Marine Corps was Nov 10th, they probably adjusted it to be Nov 10th to honor the founder.
You can't pin down the day someone like Jesus was born cause I'm sure they had no clue what a monday was. Even 1-10 just counting could of been like 0-500. Humanity is constantly changing how we do things and what is the norm'.
as a Marine I can inform you, Marines are required at all times to their living areas inspection ready and clean at all times and we have one day out of the week, normally a Thursday dedicated to cleaning, we call it field day.

Well we also have airmen in the Navy as well as the corps. Idk if you call them Airman that a marine still and a sailor that's still an Airman that are in the squadrons but I was in U.S Navy and they still called us Airman .
You don’t have to be a US citizen. I joined when I was still a green card holder and got my citizenship after getting wounded from Iraq. Pres. Bush was personally at my oath taking to become a US Citizen at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Here how it happened: I got wounded in Iraq and I was already medevac to US. After going though my 5th surgery for my blown up shoulder. Some Naval officer came to my room and told me that there was a VIP coming to visit us in 2 days and asked me if I have any request. Since I am still groggy from meds and probably still high, I told him I have no idea and asked him what did the other wounded marines wish was. He told me, one wanted to meet Jennifer Aniston and one who has been a marine for 25 years asked for us citizenship. I didn’t think of it too seriously because I just wanted to be left alone with some morphine because I just had a bone graph. I told him that I myself is not yet a US citizen and it would make me feel complete US Marine if I become a citizen. He wrote that down and left. If you guys want to know what happened next just goggle: Lcpl Oj Santamaria Daly City US Marine Citizenship. I am proud to have paid for my US citizenship in sweat, blood and tears.
I cant speak as to what Marines carry into combat these days but when I was in from 93 to 98 it was mostly 2nd hand from the army and navy. Most of our vehicles and equipment was worn out before we ever laid our hands on it. But as all Marines know its all about ones ability to adapt amd overcome.
I was a security forces troop in the Air Force and Having trained with and deployed with marines I can say that aside from my fellow airmen I wouldn’t want any other branch watching my 6
My daughter was in law school came home one day said she wanted to be a Marine and she is currently a Marine she signed up for five years she’s completed one year I’m very proud of her my grandfather fought in World War II with all of my great uncles my dear cousin was killed in Vietnam stepping on a landmine my other dear cousin was injured in Iraq our family has always supported the The United States military I owned a manufacturing company for 30 years I did quite a bit of government work I never overcharge I always provide a top quality product with pride
And that's why the Marines are known for having the sharpest uniform in all of the military. Marines when traveling on civilian transportation must wear either the tropical (in summer time) or the class B green uniform.
I was wondering about that. When I was "in" (1965/70) we traveled wearing our tropicals (and yes, the long sleeve shirts were made of wool) and by the time we got to our destinations we looked like an unmade bed. Maybe it's time to rethink this. We also couldn't leave base unless our shirt had a collar on it.
Actually we were allowed to wear that uniform for doing business like going to the bank before it closed. You are not allowed to wear it in a public establishment like a bar or eating establishment.
Oh yeah btw, the term "ex Marine" is often pejorative. It's only really used for those who've been dishonorably discharged. "Former Marine" is a much preferred term
Jonathan Riley Yeah, but I've found Former Marine the most acceptable way to say that I was in the Marine Corps but I've since gotten out without actually saying all of that and I feel that saying that I am a Marine sort of implies that I'm still in. To other Marines and service members I might be inclined to say that I'm a Marine, since they'd likely know what I mean, but to a civilian I feel that it's easier to say that I'm a former Marine to say that I'm a Marine but no longer serving.
Yup, I think we just do it out of brevity, context will dictate. But yes, Jonathan, you are correct. Once you earn the title, it is yours. To add to that point, you'll notice most Marines capitalize the word. ;)
Samuel Nichols' birthday was NOT 10 November. In fact, his actual date of birth is unknown. The legislation which was passed to create the Marine Corps was enacted on 10 November, 1775. THAT is why the Marine Corps birthday is celebrated on that date.
Had you truly done research, you would have known you never, ever, call a Marine a soldier...and I say that as a proud mother of both a Marine and a soldier.
Have 2 sons.. one in san diego now in boot camp and the other waiting on delayed entry. Even I knew ..don't call em soldiers. And they aren't Marines till they graduate boot camp. Carry on Proud mom..!! Right there with ya.
Python - The day I saw that my days of supporting Obama ended. For the Commander in Chief not to know parodical is an insult. One of the first things we were taught in Bootcamp was “If the Corps wanted you to have a umbrella they’d issue you one”. THEY DIDN’T. I watched Ms. Lucy Baines Johnson hold one over a Presidential Crew/Chief in 1968 in a torrential downpour on the White House lawn because she had brought one out to him and he explained to her he couldn’t, but thanked her. She stood there with him till the visitor returned and held that umbrella. His name was Cpl. James Bowling, Camden Ohio. She could give lessons to people on what a real LADY is!
As a marine it's more like 90 days not 70 since its 13 weeks long. Dont know why they got that wrong also fact 39 is wrong drill instructor are not allowed to to eat or drink water in front of recruits. I never once saw any of them eating drinking or sleeping(of course I know they did though)
I wonder when that changed? I went through MCRD San Diego in 1998, there was a long table off to the side where the DIs ate, so they could keep an eye on their platoons. You couldn't look around so you didn't notice them unless you got up to refill your drink or as you were leaving the chow hall.
A marine friend told me something that made my blood run cold: "Be nice to everyone you meet, always be professional, and always have a plan to kill them." 💀
So funny, but so true. Take any marine worth his salt and place him in an area with people. He will silently evaluate weapons at hand, people that he poses as a possible threat, methods of attack etc.... he will do it without even thinking about it.

that horse, reckless was in the Korean war, when the Marines left. they took that horse with them and it lived at Camp Pendleton the rest of its life and there is a statue to it.
Quit calling Marines SOLDIERS!!! They are Marines NOT soldiers, soldiers are Army. Army is a branch of service that is part of military service just like the Navy, Air Force, etc. We are not all in the Army, we are all in the MILITARY.
Hello. I am a former US Marine. We are Soldiers. We are soldiers of the sea. We are not addressed as such but the fact remains true. We don't necessarily appreciate that fact either. That was taught to us by our DIs at PI. The Marine is the most ancient of specialized soldiers and the most ancient version of what we now call special forces. As a Marine I served with the US Army in the field on occasion. Right next to them. I could throw my MRE trash at them. As a Marine I have served on US Naval Vessels. As a Marine I have been transported and deployed by the USAF. So, while I would correct an observer who said I was a Soldier; they were partly (if not technically) correct. May I say that I appreciate your loyalty to the USMC and our name in any event...
gsm swervo , soldier is a generic term for Army troops not all military. An Airman is not a Soldier and a Soldier is not an Airman. A Soldier is not a Sailor and a Sailor is not a Soldier.. Yes, Marines are Soldiers of the Sea, a unique roll & position which we have a unique name for, MARINE. Our closest cousin actually being the Coast Guard, whom I believe can be called Mariners.. ( pronounced: Mair-in-errs ).

The whole “holding onto your next rank” thing is funny to me because he said we “keep it in cover” and he doesn’t realize how literal it is. We put the chevron inside the tops of our covers (headwear) usually
Everything on the Marine Dress Blue uniform has some deeper meaning, symbolism or purpose beyond the obvious. For example, the collar is high and rigid, not as high as the old "leatherneck" collars which gave us the nickname, but in that style. There are 7 belt loops, for each of the 7 seas. There are 13 buttons, one for each of the colonies. The trousers and blouse are two different colors, representing the largest 2 oceans we have dominion over, the Atlantic and Pacific, and much much more....
The USMC physical fitness test (PFT, which Marines must pass annually) does not include pushups. This video is filled with lots of other inaccuracies. The USMC was not commissioned on July 3, 1776. It was done on November 10, 1775, and that date as the Marine Corps birthday has nothing to do with any person's birthday. I could go on. I cannot remember the last time I downvoted a video, but I'm downvoting this one.
not to be that guy... But the Marine Corps Added push-ups to the PFT in 2016 or 2017. Min 40 to max 80 worth only about 70% of the points at max. also when they did away with the Female Flexed arm hang now females have to do pull ups
I'm not from the US, but the Marines get's massive respect from little old Denmark. As we are slowly increasing our spending there have been talks about a possible Marine like unit in the future as well. I also hope you guys eventually get the help you deserve, it's a problem here too, my uncle was in Kosovo and they were not even that many. He got zero help, the best he got was a picture of him in a newspaper as he mounted his ACP with his friends. Keep fighting the good fight. I would have joined the army myself (I know Marines aren't army, but we ain't got marines here) probably as armored infantry as they seem to be the tough guys here, but my epilepsy got in the way sadly.
I would've thought Denmark would've had it's own Marines given your rich Viking history & the impact it's had on shaping your culture! A country so well known for it's extremely skilled & feared, seafaring warrior ancestry should no doubt have at least 1 division of it's own Marines today! Semper Fidelis!

My brother is a marine and it makes you a chiseled stone man, he went in at around 250-280 lbs and came out at 220. They refine you as much as they can.
When i was in boot camp i had the chance to ask my senior when did they have time to eat since we never saw any of our drill instructors eat. He told me and i quote "The thing that kept us fueled up was your guys fear and honey buns washed down with some monster". The only time i laughed while i was in boot and it was the best laugh.
This better have been after getting your EGA (when they talk to you like humans) because anyone I know would have been slayed asking a question like that. I guess there were rare Senior DI days where they'd talk to us like humans (probably for mental health) where you could get away with it.
My Father served 33 years in the Marine Corp. One combat tour in Korea and two combats tours in Vietnam. The Marines are the red headed step child of the military services. Hand me downs are what they get from the Army and Navy for the most part. But the Marines know how to adapt and overcome. Every piece of equipment (Tanks, Trucks, Artillery etc.) they have received as a hand me down, they have made improvements to and have adapted to their specific mission. The M60 tank is a classic example of that adaptation. During the Gulf war of 1991, the Marines used what others called an obsolete platform and made it work to great effect. The Marine Corp Motto is Semper Fedelis, Latin for Always Faithful! The second Marine Corp motto is, Adapt and Overcome!
Same in San Diego. They would never let you have the honor of eating with a Marine when you are in boot camp. “When the Guide is done, you’re all done!!!”

Jarhead was the way to tell marines from other services. During my service, the Marine cap was like a jar versus others which were a ball cap style. Another great thing when marines move around base they march perfectly even by them self. They never spoke or broke formation. The extra 8 weeks of basic are incredible for discipline and parade. They basically get the full infantry school treatment and parade drilling. When I started basic training it was 8 weeks of training drills vs the marines 16 weeks. We had over half our starting company washout due to all kinds of stupid shit. What is true then maybe not today? Workout hard for a year before even thinking of talking to a recruiter. Don't get screwed either make sure you get and are prequalified for the MOS you will train to do, and make sure to do 2 years minimum. If you like tech, mechanics, outdoors, flying, something you can put on a resume or use in a tech or college degree. Save every dime and don't settle down when in the military get a vasectomy, as every base have young woman ready to lock you down then cheat when you're deployed. Fact #51: The United States Marine Corps delayed their winning of the First World War until November 11, 1918. They knew that the day the "Great War" ended would inevitably become a major holiday with everyone being given the day off from work. By waiting until November 11 to defeat the Kaiser's forces they ensured that forever more, Marines would have that day off to nurse their hangovers after celebrating the Marine Corps Birthday the evening before.

The Marine Corps birthday is November 10th 1775, because it was the day the the Corps was born, not because its when samuel nicholas was born.

If you guys want to know what happened next just goggle:

Marines are not allowed to wear their utility uniforms within the civilian public.
Unlike the Army and Air Force... nasty.
Nasty pogs rah
Actually we were allowed to wear that uniform for doing business like going to the bank before it closed. You are not allowed to wear it in a public establishment like a bar or eating establishment.

And some don't even like the term Former Marine either.
Bc it's "once a Marine, always a Marine," isn't it?
Jonathan Riley Yeah, but I've found Former Marine the most acceptable way to say that I was in the Marine Corps but I've since gotten out without actually saying all of that and I feel that saying that I am a Marine sort of implies that I'm still in. To other Marines and service members I might be inclined to say that I'm a Marine, since they'd likely know what I mean, but to a civilian I feel that it's easier to say that I'm a former Marine to say that I'm a Marine but no longer serving.

I saw many married young women cheat and vice verse. You are 18, 2 years your 20, 2 more your 22, it's a bad combo. Finish your time, then get a career get a good foundation and find a woman with a good foundation.
Uh yeah, no. I live near Quantico and uh, no Marines don't "march perfectly" by themselves.
@InitialFailure
an expert huh? Because you live next to Quantico😆
@@michaelbritt2754 If you live by somewhere where Marines are and you see that they don’t do that then it literally means no they all don’t. I have also lived on a military base for the past few years, literally nobody in the military “marches” places unless they just joined…AKA boots.
@@ethanchaney1139 Well I am a Marine so...
When we walk, Marines walk in step no matter where they go. It's instilled into your brain to be disciplined and professional until drunkenness occurs 😏. I guess that's the older school, Marine Corps. But nobody knows that unless being a Marine. Also, what Marines can't be human either? It's a tough life defending freedom. Also it's tough for women to be with men who are warriors as well. But that is what separates them from others. Willing to risk their lives for others in order to maintain our way of life for this beautiful country.
Never an "EX-MARINE".... We refer to ourselves as "FORMER MARINES"
There are Marines and Marine Veterans. Period. Once a Marine Always A Marine. Period.
PAIN IS WEAKNESS LEAVING THEIR BODY
from the name, to the profile picture, to the all caps lock, this is the best comment i've seen during my time here on youtube.
Best piece of parenting advise ive ever heard. My son knows it well
me during pt
Thank you very much for this video ❤❤
You literally use army camouflage the whole video, not digital.
The Marines also used that camouflage. That and I bet that they'd get copyrighted for using that camo.
Camo is constantly evolving, there was a time when there was no Camo! The type is mission specific as well as bdu.
Interesting, and funny, but is it true?
Lmao is that actually true
No it’s not. That decision was made by allied representatives and allied command. Not a single marine present or even involved in the negotiations.
And the United States did not sign a treaty with Germany until 1921 even though hostilities had ended.
Fact # 51 : the Marine corps has its own martial arts program called MCMAP marine corps martial arts program
Hahaha green belt is dope!
Just learn actual martial arts
Seen too many marine with green belt and higher belt up and then promptly get ass whooped by lil ol Japanese ladies
I've been out of the Corps since the late 80s but my pride has never waned. Once a Marine always Marine.
Fact #51
Marines never do 360 no scopes in a battlefield
NEVER
- ThePossible - welp I cant be a marine then -rip-
Damnit I’ve been doing it wrong the whole time
Don’t call Marines soldiers.
George Mennenga look up what a soldier is. They’re definitely soldiers.
@@Joab03291999 no. A marine is a marine, not a soldier. Go up to any marine and call him a soldier and see what they say. Have some respect for the Corps
Soldier of the Sea is from General John Lejeune's birthday address, repeated each year in celebration. It is the ONLY time we allow that term to be used.
@@sgwilsonmd SOLDIER YOURE A SOLDIER A BIG FAT SOLDIER. HEY EVERYBODY LOOK AT THIS SOLDIER
Joab We are not soldiers. We’re marines.
You have 0/10 knowledge on the marine corps if you listen to this video
So you either listened to this video and thus have 0/10 knowledge of marines {your words} OR you DIDN'T listen yet somehow have determined the information it contains. Hmmm?
brandon bower I know the usmc is completely different this embarrasses me
Dave McEvoy , So you either read & understood what brandon bower meant and are just another troll, or read didn’t understand & are just a half literate idiot.. 🤣🤣
