I worked at tanning salons for years and used to do spray tans on clients... we would use stridex alcohol pads to remove any mistakes. Worked like a charm!

Oooo super good tip! I really want to start using self tanner but I've been so nervous about muddy hands! Thanks for the tip!

    • @michellekelly2937

Since you've never applied a self tanner, be sure to exfoliate first and then put moisturizer on the roughest part of your knees, and let it soak in before you apply your tanner. Whenever I've used self tanner on my legs, there's one spot on both my knees that seems to really grab the self tanner, even though I moisturize everyday. I didn't know where this spot was until I did my first self tanning session, however, now I know where it is, and I make sure I prep it first. You may not have this problem, but if you do, you'll know how to fix it. No one wants dark knees after self tanning!! I also find that moisturizing the tops of my feet helps too! Experiment to see what works for you! I've never had a problem with stained hands. I just work as quickly as I can (no need to rush) to finish my legs and then wash my hands right away. No need to be nervous! : )

Something that isn't so harmful that works amazingly: whitening toothpaste. Just dampen your hands (not too much), add the toothpaste, rub together, wash off, and the tanner is gone. :) Hope this is helpful!

Does it work if you use it on places where it concentrates? Such as on your ankles or the knuckles of your toes? I guess we'll find out cuz I'm gonna try it! :)

It didn't work for me. We have some heavy duty stuff we got when we had to replace our windshield. I'll have to try that. It looks more like what she used in the video. I'm wondering if it's because, even though I exfoliate and use the sander thing, the skin in those areas are just thicker, maybe it absorbs it so much that there's nothing you can do once the tanner is absorbed. Any thoughts?

You are a saint. Thank you so much for posting this! My hands were black with self tanner and I had tried scrubbing, lemon juice, toothpaste, baking soda, and then acetone before coming across your video and none of those worked. The windex practically melted off without me even having to scrub. You saved my big event tomorrow! Thank you!!!!

Thank you!! It worked!! I'm a 48 yr old male who has vitiligo. It started about 5 years ago on my hands now my feet. Thought I would try some self tanning methods to help darken the spots...well it worked until 24 hours later I had deep orange hands and feet! Saw your video and I cried in relief!! Your method of removing the tan worked and also used the magic eraser with it. Worked wonders. Still have a few spots of tanning where I missed but will get those later. I'll keep my white vitiligo spots thank you!! :) :)

baking soda and lemon juice also works amazingly! I don't use a mitt when I apply my tan and I use St. Tropez lotion with the colour guard which unfortunately makes your palms dark brown! I just scrub them right away with a mixture of equal parts baking soda and lemon juice and it does the trick :)
