Just got mine. Agreed fully. The coil split is phenomenal and the humbuckers clean up so well with the volume knobs. You can get spanky single coil vibes and then untap the coils and get a nasty bucker sound. Feels great, looks great, it’s got a trem, what’s not to like.
So many "technical" guitarists on UA-cam, but man I can hear your soul through the guitar. Amazing. The second to the last guitar I picked up is a PRS SE Custom 24-08. It can hold its own with many of the high-end guitars I own.
100% agree! I never considered PRS because I really don't care for the birds, and the super fancy veneers, but when I saw this one, I thought I'd give a try. Glad I did. I've had a few guitars since 1966. (First was a 1966 Gretsch Corvette. First purchased with my own money was a '61 Les Paul -- $175 circa 1970). More others than I can count. Hard to know whether all those others were as good as memory paints them, but this PRS is definitely in the top 1%. It's also the only guitar since that '61 that I'm not already shopping for pickups, tuners ... There's really nothing about it I would change, not even that odd control arrangement. (BTW, matched it up with a Quilter Mach 3 -- my first tube amp since the 70s, and it really IS as good as people say. And the weight is definitely senior-citizen approved!) Great review and excellent playing -- my kind of music!
Just got a Silver Sky SE, already my favourite over my Gibson,Godin and Squire. However,I won't be satisfied till I add the DGT SE ,which might be awhile before it comes to Canada. Great playing and good review.
Wow...nice playing! Waiting on the gold top version myself, have quite a few PRS with bird inlays already. But, that burst looks and sounds bad ass. Waiting on a chocolate burst Aerodyne Strat too. Hope it's as beautiful up close as this one.
I don't know if this is the best SE guitar that PRS has ever produced but I do know that I bought one (my first SE). Nice playing there too, thanks for putting it through its paces.
Very tasty licks…! To me, the best sounding PRS is the CE with its Dragon II pickups. Played one, but it wouldn’t stay in tune. I had a core DGT for 4 years but I eventually sold it. Didn’t bond with it. I play my LP R9 and a self assembled Tele that are my main axes. Cheers man: keep on that great playing !
Tasty jam at start! If I get will get the cheapest and put Fralin Hum Cancelling P90 bucker sized. Thanks for the evaluation! Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Stefan - You're playing is phenomenal, good luck with your musical journey. I bought the PRS SE DGT because of yours and so many other wonderful reviews and not blaming anyone but mine arrived (had to buy it in Toronto- 1000 miles away) and it was average at best. The Fret work was atrocious (neck shrinkage maybe). The high E string would catch and get stuck many of the frets on the treble side (took me 4 hours of fret filing to improve and I'm no tech) and I find the Bridge pup muddy on the low E and A strings. I own 30+ guitars and for the money would rank my Epiphone ES-339 or Yamaha Revstar RSS02T much higher value and quality. Of course there are bad apples in evert batch
Hi mate, you should seek a return if possible. It seems as if you definitely ended up with one that isn't up to par. Which from my understanding is very rare with PRS, but impossible to completely eradicate. And don't hesitate to email PRS support, they've been very helpful to me in the past. Sorry to hear man!
Hello Stefan, firstly, excellent playing sir!! Love the channel and your voice is excellent as well. I have been itching for a LesPaul but the Gibson price tag is too steep. I was wondering how you would compare the 2 ? I know it may not replace a Les Paul. Just wondering your take on the 2. Thank you
Hi Stefan, lovely playing on the best SE so far. PRS, with a lot of input from Mr DG himself, have set their own bar very high now. I think this will be the first in a new breed of affordable guitars.🎸
Those are without question the best sounding PRS pickups I've ever heard. I still detest the shape of his guitars and those vutt uglt headstocks though. Dude, you have some mad chops. You look very much like a young version of Chicago Bluesman Nick Moss. We're all big boys, including Nick. I only wish I could play half as well as you. Thansk for the upload Stefan. I'm now Sub'd. Cheers from Chicago bro
@@stefan_hauk - I went with the Gold Top because the dark burst just didn't grab me but your top looks fantastic. Agreed that it looks almost cherry burst and the flaming is pretty impressive too.
I'm not pimping for PRS, I am a PRS Artist, but I paid my own money for this guitar and for the price I truly believe it's an amazing value. I played it against a Private Stock Custom 24 and for the style I play, the SE DGT suited me better. The neck shape and pickups were more to my liking. Watch any recent video of David Grissom playing these SE models live and it's proof enough that these are great instruments. I'm sure your core model is great, but that's not the point of this video. For 1/4 of the price this is undeniably an amazing instrument.
I'm not a massive fan of blues... but this guy has the best blues chops I've ever heard.
So God damn musical!!!
Mind is blown!!
That's very kind! Thank you.

Great demo. Great choice of amp. Great playing. Your lighting made that guitar look absolutely gorgeous!

Thanks for that mate, means a lot.

yup... super stoked about this PRS SE model next to their T style they recently released!
Damn that playing is badass😁
I don't listen to blues, but I keep coming back to your channel man, gotta respect the crazy good playing.
Thanks so much. Much appreciated.
Incredible playing. So smooth, great timing and licks
Tasty opening jam and demo 🤘
Wow, great playing! I got one on preorder now. Can't wait ...
I have the tremonti SE...Not bad..but this Thing is better i think! Great playing!!
I don't know how the guitar feels, but it sounds great. And in your hands, you make it talk...Nice playing!
Just ordered one. Thanks for your review.
Hope you enjoy it!
Got yourself a sub mate wondrous playing. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Dude!!! New favorite you tube guitarist. Wow, just wow.....
Thanks so much!!
really cool guitar and well played as usual Stefan
please make more video using this guitar, amazing play Stefan !
Great demo Stefan!
Great playing
That's some beautiful playing!
Thanks man!
Best demo for dgt se and great playing.
Great review ! I think one of the clearest takes i have seen yet thank you Stefan !
Finally some great tones from this guitar !!!

Btw. I have that version backordered from sweetwater. Can't wait.
Great playing, wow!! Thank you for posting this video!
Great playing and tone! I'm really excited to try my Gold Top that's predicted to arrive in a month or so's time! 👍😎
It looks great and sounds perfect.
Nice demo. This guy can play.
killer playing!!!!!!!!!!!! great review! thanks!
Sounds killer! Thanks Stefan
Cant wait to play one of these, if they’re as good as the Silver Sky SE is compared to the core this is going to be a success.
I love any guitar you are playing my friend. STILL my favorite player as of late.
Wow...nice playing! Waiting on the gold top version myself, have quite a few PRS with bird inlays already. But, that burst looks and sounds bad ass. Waiting on a chocolate burst Aerodyne Strat too. Hope it's as beautiful up close as this one.
Killer playing mate
Great playing...sounds good
I don't know if this is the best SE guitar that PRS has ever produced but I do know that I bought one (my first SE). Nice playing there too, thanks for putting it through its paces.
Looking to get one myself. Sounds great love that amp too!
I think this is going to be my PRS. Cool channel sir.
Mine's on order (UK). 😊😊
Still waiting for mine!!
I can't wait to get my gold top!
классный парень

Hi Stefan awesome playing and great Sounding Guitar 🎸 👌
Tasty jam at start! If I get will get the cheapest and put Fralin Hum Cancelling P90 bucker sized. Thanks for the evaluation! Best Regards and Best Wishes!
I'm sure that those Fralins are great, but don't do it straight away... The stock pickups are remarkably good.
You can hang with mr Grissom great playing

Great video, great playing. Have you played the SE McCarty 594? If so, pros and cons vs, the SE DGT? Appreciate it!
Hi Stefan, lovely playing on the best SE so far. PRS, with a lot of input from Mr DG himself, have set their own bar very high now. I think this will be the first in a new breed of affordable guitars.🎸
$2000 cheaper than the real thing, give me a break!
Just got my PRS SE DGT, love the middle position, and blending of the volumes, you can open up a lot of tonal variations, especially a cool blues tone
Great playing pal...
Check out the guy doing an endorsement for this Se model, had to set up the action and intonation before it was playable!
dang. you did justice to that axe. I want a different color. 😢
Damn Stefan.... get it handsome. Def a top range by far
Keep a firm grip on this!

Electrofrying demo 👏
Say Wha ! , 🔥 licks 🔥
what amp you using brother?
The finish on yours looks amazing. Almost looks more of a cherry burst
Yeah, the one I ended up with is definitely a bit lighter than some of the others I've seen, I like it too!
@@stefan_hauk - I went with the Gold Top because the dark burst just didn't grab me but your top looks fantastic. Agreed that it looks almost cherry burst and the flaming is pretty impressive too.
@@riloh58 How do you like the Gold top version?
@@joshuaszaszkiewicz2139 - it’s still in transit so no playing yet. I couldn’t get one local to me (Brisbane, Aus) so it’s shipping from Melbourne.
I agree that your black is lighter and this is what i want
Why did you pick DGT SE over McCarty SE? Trem, pickups? I guess you were looking into those 2 models.
ok got it
Hi, have you tried the 594 double cut ? was wondering what you think between the 2 ? Whats the neck like ? is it thin wide ? or fat ?
I haven't had the chance yet... The neck is a DGT profile, which is kinda deep but not as wide as a 'wide fat'... Very comfortable.
How would you compare this DGT SE vs the Paul's guitar SE? Thanks! I'm sure both are fantastic.
They share some similarities, but the DGT has a more 'vintage' feel and tone... Mainly down to the neck shape and pickup voicing.
Got both ..Agree totally with your assessment not to mention the Trem..
@@stefan_hauk Awesome! thats really cool.
yeah very nice guitar character.. btw, how is your right hand doing?
Still not back to full strength, but a lot better than it was!
@@stefan_hauk glad to hear the improvement... keep on rockin 💪🤘
Are the pickups the same as the core?
No.
No, they are the Indonesian made version, but they are by far the best SE humbuckers I've heard and are very comparable to the core version.
The thing sounds mean. Particularly in your hands, dude.
They need to produce the Steve Hauk model!
Hahaha! Who's Steve?
@@stefan_hauk Okay! You got me. Stefan Hawk Model….
@@OttoCharles49 Hawk? 😂😂😂😂
Okay… you’re dealing with an old cowboy in Oklahoma. Pardon my spelling. I really like what you do with a guitar.
@@OttoCharles49 I'm just kidding mate! Thank you for the kind words!
you burst looks red to me while some others look real tobacco brown.. is that a quality control issue or did they make some red ones?
That’s 🥜 Am I really gonna buy this?
What amp?
Marshall SV20, in a Boss Waza Tube Amp Expander.
Uh ... just don't drop this one, ok???
I'll try 😂😂😂
I love your playing, but pimping for PRS isn't cool. The guitar isn't even close to the original. I own the original.
