Puebla is one of my favourite places in Mexico! The city is so beautiful and is one of the most prosperous cities in Mexico. Angelopolis is evidence of this. But the culinary culture is one of the best in my opinion! From Arab tacos to mole poblano to mancha manteles…it’s all delicious! Also…you have some nearby treasures like Cholula which is one of the best cities in Mexico (San Andres Cholula) which is the longest continually populated city in the Americas and has the largest pyramid in the world! Nearby Chipilo is a hidden gem, a town founded by Italian immigrants which has retained their culture and language! It transports you to Italy when you eat and drink here! Best time is after mass on sundays and you get to eat all the delicious pasta and pizzas and gelato…and great wines! Atlixco is also great and not too far! Great weather and a beautiful town. Asan Andrés Calpan is also a great town that’s nearby and they have the best mole sauce and chiles en bobada and some great religious architecture! Tlaxcala capital is also a gem and so close to Puebla! It has their own culture which is great and differentiates from Puebla in maybe ways! Val’Quirico is a beautiful town that takes you to medieval towns along the Mediterranean, it’s a great Saturday visit! Glad to see you guys back in Mexico and especially in one of my favourite parts of Mexico (Besides Los Altos de Jalisco, Baja, and Yucatán).
You forgot Zacatlan de Las Manzanas, another gorgeous Pueblo Mágico. Good time to visit there is Aug. 15 for their apple celebrations, they have their own apple drinks too and cheese bread.
@@jj-bp3fr I was mentioning things mainly in the Metropolitan area for day trips of weekend trips. Zacatlán is great but so far away from the city of Puebla! Love the cider there!

When I taught ESL, I had students from Puebla, very nice people. There is a spot in Harlem called Wimpy's owned by Mexicans who had worked in restaurants, then said "Let's Do This For Ourselves". They had 5 establishments with seating, takeout, and bicycle delivery. You could get anything from brekky with grits, icecream, pizza, pasta, burgers, or tasty tacos. One evening their wives and sweethearts entered that popular eatery presenting platters of Tortas and possibly Chalupas. It was obviously something special, the real deal. Obviously my guys are from Puebla too.❤💚

We'll be in Puebla mid-February, during my birthday, & you guys just made look more forward to being there! I'm noting the places you pointed out, & we usually find our own nooks & crannies as well. Thank you for this!
We have lived in Puebla and enjoy it but miss CDMX. Anyway, don't judge Puebla by the historic center of town, this IS a metropolis, a center of business and technology. I suggest you head out towards Angelopolis which is the modern side of town. Skyscrapers, modern buildings and luxury malls, homes and apartments. A city of schools too, all kinds from the Catholic Schools to German Insititute, Oxford and more plus large universities with global certifications. One of the great things about the area is all the small towns all around, each with traditions, artisans, specialties, so you go "puebleando" from one to another...The weather here is more stable than in CDMX, cool and sunny. Cholula is just down the road.
We would love to plan another visit - we only scratched the surface of this city and want to dive more into what its like to live there. Thanks for filling in those gaps!
@@TheYarbros I was thinking, "but what about..." so many times while watching this video. I did a lot in Puebla in my two weeks there last year, and still feel like I didn't see a lot. I think it would be a pretty comfortable home base for a good solid year, similar to Guadalajara. Sadly, the public transportation is just not as good. There are like... 4 or 5 pueblos magicos surrounding the area. The drive through zoo is neat, too, but you need a car for that. I stayed out in Angelopolis, and it was pretty, but not my jam. Lots of road noise and more geared toward car life, not pedestrian life. Also, going in April was a mistake. It was hot hot hot hot HOT when I was there, but so was most of Mexico. Definitely a better month to be in CDMX, Morelia, or Patzcuaro and not Puebla, as the slightly lower elevation was just too warm that time of year for me. You definitely need to make a point to return, and if you can afford to rent a car, do it. So much of the activities around there really just need one, I hate to say.
