I'll comment but yeah I've said this before years. Especially his snare. It's sounds crispier these days instead of deep and punchy like back then. Noth sound good but the sonor sounded better
I bet Derek Roddy is one of Kollias' influences. I read a Metal Maniacs magazine i which Kollias said "Derek Roddy,he is the man" or something like that. I wish I still had that mag…Personally,I like Nick Barker,Kai Hahto and Janne Parviainen as my favorite metal drummers.
What is playing with the extra pedal of the far left? It seems like it's a bass drum pedal but no bass drum attached. I can't see anything attached to it to be honest. What is it connected to?
Rufus Page Depending on the year this set-up is from, it is most likely his alternate pedal for the auxiliary hi-hat but in previous, earlier, years set-ups it was connected to a cowbell.
I wish he was the drummer for metallica, id like to hear his take on their songs. He would sound great with their classic songs, don't get me wrong Lars fits them but I just think it would be interesting to check out.
Jes Hunter Kollias has much more monotonous beats and fills, boring to hear him for more than one or two songs in a row. So I like Roddy's drumming much more
Jes Hunter Kollias has got to the point where he is just so on point most of the time that it just sounds like listening to a machine. I can't stand listening to him play for very long, it's soooo boring. It's like there is absolutely no feel to his playing. As said by Sergey Gomenyuk, everything Kollias does just sounds very monotonous and boring. Plus, Derek's fills are a lot more technical than George's, which I definitely prefer.
+BW Drums Completely agree. Kollias is a great drummer but his work with Nile has been boring as hell. A lot of repetition. I think his work with Cerebrum and Sickening Horror was way better. Derek makes things more interesting. Tony Laureano was bloody good too in my opinion, such a creative drummer.
+Carter Going to agree as well. Kolias is technically an amazing drummer but it all sounds extremely robotic. Roddy is a psychotic beast but also knows how to switch things up and make songs/drum parts exciting and memorable. I haven't listened to a Nile album since the first one they did with Kolias. He's just not my cup of tea. I love insane drumming but technique should only be used when it is necessary and adds flavor to a song. Roddy's work with Hate Eternal and Divine Empire was also killer.
It is unbelievable how clean his kicks are..👌
Derek and George are my top 2 #1 drummers of all time. I followed these guys for decades by now.
I just wish George would make his snare sound like this. His snare never has this punch. To me, George and Derek blasts are powerful AF
Follow Flo munier! 🪓🪓
I wish Kollias snare sounds like this. Derek blasts are always powerful
Derek roddy🤘🤘🤘🤘
GORGEOUS!
Oh my! He seems to be a very very great drummer!!
I miss the sound he had on the Sonors. Bass drums sound punchy as fuck.
Yea man.. Sonor drums sounded so much better than DW:s..

badass drumming right there

ribbon crasher
@@drinkinouttacups2665 Yep, looks like it. Probably for timing, but by sound like his lefthand index finger thing he does while he blasts.

Lars is shit
hes too good for Metallica they would just hold him back
+demonocus drumocus that is true but man it would be intriguing to see!

+Drum Hunter He's amazing technically but otherwise, I can't stand him. There's a reason the first 3 nile albums are my favorite!
