I use personalized voice whenever I know I'm going to lose my voice after a lot of yelling and I use assistive access whenever I want to stay away from unnecessary screen time
I am blind so I use voice over and Siri a lot. Question: Do you know if you can use the new “Personal Voice“ also as your Siri voice and the screen reader/voiceover voice on your iPhone?
My hearing aids are Bluetooth compatible with my phone,iPad I absolutely love this feature as I use voice over and don’t draw attention to myself when I am outdoors. I don’t know if Apple TV will work with them or not?
I think assistive access is also a good idea for elderly people. My grandma gets overwhelmed with all the apps, if she has a few apps like that, it’s easier for her
Assistive input LOOKS like what I was hoping to get for my in-laws (and for kids that would have no business having a smartphone), yet is falls short of expectations. Slow, buggy and cumbersome.
Thank you Aaron for making this video. Accessibility features so often get overlooked. It left me with a few questions though. I use VoiceOver, so the thing that sounds most exciting to me is that point and speak thing. I have a 12 mini and all the detection mode things that require are the one thing that are making me consider upgrading. Demos sound great, but as I have no vision, I am terrible at positioning the camera. For instance, I can never get the live text feature to grab all of the text; I always feel like there's more text that the camera doesn't pick up and I don't know how to improve that. When you showed the point and speak thing, did you have to hold your phone at a certain distance for it to pick up the text from the iPad screenshot or the keyboard? Whe you just waving your hand above the keyboard and it was reading what was under your finger as you moved it? That's really cool if that's how it's supposed to work. Although I would think it would hard to hold your iPhone with one hand and use the other to point at something without the camera losing focus if that makes sense. Whenever, I try to get image descriptions it's kind of the same thing; the description will change even if I don't move, so I don't trust it. I don't know how much of that could be down to user error though. Any thoughts?
He didn't have the phone too far away from the iPad or keyboard. He was pointing, but I can't really describe what else he was doing. He was holding his phone with 1 hand though
Informative video Aaron! I'm a daily accessibly user. I use backtap, zoom, auto play messages effect, reachability and siri. These new accessibility features look great. I'm looking forward to ios 17's public release, so I can see them for myself and decide which ones will be of use to me.
Hello Aaron! Hope all is well! You asked which features we use. I'd love to see a keyboard (for texting) where the keys are significantly larger. (I've utilized, to the utmost, all the accessibility options; larger/bold text, and landscape mode, etc., for that on iOS 16.) I'm always baffled when phones and apps leave all this empty room at the top, above the keyboard area, but for older people like me, have to deal with teeny tiny keys. (I'm a one finger-at-a-time texter.) I'm glad you included the Assistive Access, but I didn't see you type an actual text message on a keyboard. Could you, perchance edit or amend your video to include that? Many thanks, Aaron!
That voice sounds astonishingly like your real voice. At least when played back here locally on UA-cam. What an incredible feature. Thanks for another great informative video. Love your channel.
IOS 17 looks really good, even if some of it still needs some polish, it’s great to see apple putting the smart in smartphone , and when I say smart , I mean improving phones user function so that their use makes our daily lives better. On the voice talk thing , I’m thinking being able to replace Siri’s voice with our own would be cool …. Maybe?
I am a visually impaired user on the iphone great functions but I think what Apple really does need to concentrate is customising the keyboard for visually impaired people the condition I have sadly affects the macula and for letters to stand out I require a yellow background with black writing I think I have asked you in the past if Apple will ever do that I don't think I ever got a response sadly from you it would be amazing if they could or maybe adjusting the keyboard size would be really good as well these functions are brilliant what Apple are doing but they're quite useless if you can't use the keyboard
With my MFI hearing aids, I made a “Hey Siri” phone call with my phone in my pocket. It told me I had to unlock the phone first. I see you reported AirPods can authenticate the phone, now that would be good for hearing aid users. Even if they could authenticate with the Apple Watch.
I paused the video on the Personal Voice option. This must be available only on specific phones? I'm running ios 17.0 on my Xs Max and this option is not available.
Personal voice doesn’t work for me. Went through the process & it appears as a new item✅. It’s not on the list under Live Speech though - even after trying rebooting & renaming the personal voice. I only see the list of standard voice options. I could try setting up a new voice again but it takes a couple of days 😕
By far my favorite new addition to iOS 17 is the ability to adjust the haptic touch long-press length. Coming from Android I always felt long press was too slow on iOS and needed a setting to activate faster. This change makes me very happy.
There are so many accessibility features but nothing for people affected by PWM , this is really sad , pretty sure it deserves a small place in that section. A feature like Limit Flicker should be present at a small cost of losing color values. Atleast we will be able to use the phone.
I just got the beta and I have an iPhone 11, but when I go to setings and accessibility, then speech, I only see live speech, I do not see personal voice, I'm not sure why but is there any way to fix this?
Cool video Aaron! Say, do you have any information about the availability of Personal Voice depending on region and model? I couldn't find anything regarding that.
Always enjoy your videos very informative. Waiting on your weekend update to see if I should install the public beta. Not sure about the voice thing yet.

Help me idk how to get it to start learning how my voice sounds instead of me having to use one of the default voices with the live speech please someone help me
I’m kind of disappointed that personal voice isn’t on every iPhone it’s not a big deal since if I had it I probably wouldn’t use it but just looks very cool and would be great if I had it on my phone
With assistive access in iOS 17 public beta I can call to other people, but can’t receive calls. Even when I select specific contacts or all contacts. Hopefully this will be resolved, because it is a great feature for a minimalist phone.

I found out about it from another UA-camr some time after they announced the new accessibility features. The two that were available were Remember This and Mood Journal. In the creation process of the shortcut it creates a new Apple Notes journal page. I still have the shortcut and can post the comments from the shortcut if you would like. I initially found them under the Shortcuts for Accessibility section of the gallery. I did check back though and it seams it might not be there anymore when you browse but I am able to bring it up in the gallery when I search probably because I already have it.

You don't sound the same because of the microphone on the iPhone. and probably the voice generation software.
The voice utility would be great if you have a sore throat or other sickness but want to respond to someone.
