I find out if the DreamStation 2 is compatible with OSCAR. If you don't know what OSCAR is, it is a highly useful tool in optimizing sleep with CPAP/Bilevel/ASV therapy.

@@Freecpapadvice Oh boyoboyoboy!
@@Freecpapadvice yep I saw it. What a rant!
Hello, I have also been using the Dream Station 1 before recall, since this recall I have been frankly looking for something else. I got in contact with my Sleep Doctor , she got me to use a A Pap from a BiPap. Awesome . I love it. Now I am on a ResMed Air Sense 10 . The best night sleep in a very long time. I am still waiting on Philips Respironics to send my a new machine! Maybe they will send it by Christmas! I don’t care. I have ResMed and loving it.
I read someplace that on the DS2 Respironics is now encrypting your detailed data with a proprietary scheme so you CAN'T read is using OSCAR. Supposedly this is to "protect" the patient (from themself) by ensuring ONLY your sleep doctor, DME, and insurance company (NOT you) can read YOUR data. At most my sleep doctor spends maybe 10 minutes every year reviewing my SD card sleep data because that's all the time insurance will pay for.
I don't mind the new design one bit. I think it actually looks rather good. The one thing I don't like is the hose coming out from the side/front instead of the top. The biggest downfall is the no Oscar support. Hoping they will put out a software update soon.
My DME on my initial visit said, “Here’s your DS2. That’s all we have in stock, take it or leave it” This was a week before foamgate. I’m adjusting to the machine, but I’m an engineer and want the data that Oscar should be able to give me. I may tell them I hate the machine and see what happens. Do you like AirSense 10?
I do like the AirSense 10. It's what I use.
When I import into my version of OSCAR 1.3.0, I get a message that says, "Sorry, your Philips Respironics CPAP machine (DreamStation 2) is not supported yet. The developer needs a .zip copy of this machine's SD card and a matching Encore or Care Orchestrator .pdf reports to make it work with OSCAR."
If you are a technician and have Care Orchestrator, you could make this work by sending them that data.
Well Jason, if you had a massively heavy Ampeg V4 or SVT bass amp, you could have just dropped the amp on "soft" cpap machine, plugged bass in and gave us some riffs! I'm still sticking with my Resmed Airsense 10, my HiWatt DR504 guitar amp and strat. Thanks for the vid dude and rock on.
LOL!!! My below average riffs are coming very soon.
Just got an outoset 10 with 50 hours for $300 on craigslist. Hopefully I’m set for a few years.
Ohhhh........cheap Jason definitely approves!!!! 👍🏼
My autoset 10 has over 6600 hours on it now and is still as quiet as when it was new.
I’ve been testing the alpha test version of Oscar for the DS2. It seems to be working well. The only bugs I’ve found so far were in DreamMapper. Philips also removed the automatic start and stop (and optistart) settings from the clinical menu. I’d have to go to my DME to get those settings changed.
DreamMapper (and MyAir for that matter) is useless anyway. I did look at someones data (during a PAP Analysis) that is on a DS2. Data looks good, but their leak rate reporting is still terrible with very slow sampling times.
Jason, without a card in the machine, do providers still get detailed data or just summary data?
Hopefully this wont happen to the new Resmed Airsence 11 that is soon to be released.
I could really use your help in figuring out how to get the sleep data off of my dream station 2. My cpap provider will not help. I need it for my DOT physical.
I’m curious. Just diagnosed with apnea, getting the dream station 2 next week (through insurance…they didn’t give me any options). Heard it wasn’t great but I’m so goddamned tired I don’t care just pump me full of that sweet sweet air. This vid is 10 months old…any change in OSCAR compatibility as of March 2022? You seem pretty sold on OSCAR and I like your vids and you seem trustworthy, and I want to get as much info as possible to help me get this under control. Any updates?
I just opened the OSCAR source code. The developers have written statements in the code declaring, '"Sorry, your Philips Respironics DreamStation 2 is not supported yet."' Hopefully they will push out an update in the future as the machines become more prolific.
Yep, the reverse engineering game starts all over again. Which is so sad! Why can't Philips just publish a data specification.
Don't forget the next message:
"The developers needs a .zip copy of this machine's SD card and matching DreamMapper screenshots to make it work with OSCAR."
Anyone own a copy of DreamMapper?
@@xxxxx8200 DreamMapper is freely available on Android or Ios.
@@cebruthius You're right. Lefty even opened up his copy later in the video. I wholeheartedly encourage him and all other DreamStation 2 owners to email screenshots to the OSCAR devs. Those screenshots are the means by which DreamStation 2 support will appear in OSCAR!
He Jason. I’ve got a DS 1 and my supplier said ‘Australians won’t be getting DS 2, only the USA will be getting them.I’m curious to know (if you have some inside running) what machine they would supply in Australia? I’m really not interested in a replacement or repair and under Australian Consumer Law we are entitled to a refund if the machine is unsafe; which it is. The problem for retailers is they have to refund and then get the money off Phillips. Regards from Australia.
Small capacity SD cards < 8 GB can be difficult to find and can be relatively expensive. I did find a few on line but they're pricey.
I'm thinking of doing a project. I'm looking for the headgear of a mask that was discontinued about 8 years ago. The Respironics ComfortLite2. Would you perhaps have something lying around or do you know somebody who might?
I did, but I think I pitched them all. 😬 I probably still have a box, but I'm guessing they're deep in storage.
The reason it's not supported by Oscar is thst philips appears to be encrypting the contents of the files.
Their app has the key to unencrypt but Oscar does not. Perhaps eventually they'll figure out how to either force dreamstation to record in plain text or crack the encryption somehow. Hopefully philips did a crap job and used a weak cypher, or someone can get their hands on the decryption key.
What. Exactly is Oscar?
I got the dream station 2 from the recall from the first one. I feel like it’s not helping me as good as the first one did. Is there anything about the machine that could be hurting me?
I purchased my original DS out of pocket so have no reporting responsibilities. Just received my DS 2 replacement per the recall. Is it possible to disable the modem on the DreamStation 2?
What are the DME using exactly (instead of OSCAR) to analyze the data? Can you tell us?
Love the Dreamstation, sleek design and easy to use. The new 2 looks like a potato. And doesn't seem to be an upgrade. Thx for all your help.
I agree! I would be more inclined to get it if it came in white!
Question, do you need to somehow format the SD card to get the machine to write to it My ResMed S10 does not have a memory card and I want to put one in?
For ResMed machines, use a card between 2 GB and 32 GB, not larger. Cards in that size range normally come formatted as FAT32, so you should not need to format it yourself. If you do format it, be sure to format it as FAT32, which the CPAP machine requires.
@@GuyScharf Ugh. Why don't PAP machines use UDF, this is a problem that was solved decades ago.
The Airsense 10, which I have has the option to format the sd in the menu...I think.
When I insert an SD card, I see the briefest message flash on the screen that I think indicates an SD write activity. Other than that, I cannot find any indication that the SD card is inserted and working. Nothing on the status or setup menus says anything about an SD card. How does one confirm its working properly?
Pull it out after use and import data into OSCAR…..but not yet. Sounds like it is recording. Can also see if the folder on the SD card fills up after every night.
Oscar for DS2 would be a dream :)
Resmed 11 baby!? 🤷🏻♂️ I think Oscar needs to be compatible not dreanstation2
Yeah......I think you're right. 🙁
Well crap...............
Can I sleep all night without snoring or dying is all I need.
Haha I love dr. Joseph Borelli but Dreammapper is soooo useless lol
Dreammapper is worse than worthless.....it's misleading.
@@Freecpapadvice Yeah. I remember seeing someone with machine reported AHI 30 and a 90% score or something like that. Pretty insane.
I’ve heard that they have encrypted the data.
The DreamStation2 is a terrible design. Everyone that's owned the 1 and the 2 knows this.
