I hope the cylinder was cottered and honed prior to assembly. It had a deep groove! This is not a restoration; it is a mere reincarnation! Good job! Gerard, the Netherlands
The piston was brand new, so the cylinder was most probably bored. And he used a brand new ignition plate too. (Despite cleaning the old one, but it would never have worked anyway.)
i love your stuff, i know garages that have ten times more professional tools but they are doing ten times worser jobs than you are, thankful that you put your work on videos, thanks dude!!
The Honda mopeds with these engines were so plentiful in Malaysia. Mostly the C70 GBO and C70 GBO-J. I have seen some guys polished the magneto and clutch cover into deep mirror shine and some motorcycle spareparts even sell the chromed ones. It look really nice. Most parts were locally made and some came from Thailand. These engines have a good reputation of being so reliable and bullet proof!
I can't believe how that engine looked! spectacular, to think that I have an equal engine lying in the back of my yard thanks to your video I'm going to restore it ... greetings from Bahía Blanca, Argentina.
I have a 2007 CRF70 engine that looks identical to this engine, I’m doing the same basic freshen up but replacing the top end with a 88 kit, free HP. The Chinese copied these engines then even created a different version using a Kawasaki based top end (YX140/YX160 and so on) but for me it’s the original short stroke Honda. Nice work
What an amazing restoration job, you are obviously very familiar with this style of engine, I don't have much experience with the semiautomatic motorcycle transmissions, I find them complicated compared to regular manual clutch setup. Great job on an engine that looked hopeless, now it like new again.
Nice project and great to see one of these engines running again. Tip: Using a wire brush to the clean/polish aluminium is a REALLY bad idea. Tiny steel particles from the wire will embed themselves into the aluminium and cause corrosion. Use a synthetic wheel such as 3M scour pad (Scotch-Brite) . Much more friendly to aluminium.
Nice video!! I have the same motor new in a crate in my garage. I use to work for a Honda dealer as a mechanic and when the owner sold the shop he gave me the motor that he had in stock. That was over 40 years ago and that how long I have it for. Your video make me want to open the crate to look at it.
i liked that but only a young man could do most of the work bending over on the ground.. my back would have gone by the time i got to the conrod.. good video..
Yeah. Definitely some things there I would have done differently. For example, I'm not so sure it's a good idea to wire bush bearing surfaces and the whole ignition plate with the coils on it. But maybe he found out, because during assembly he installed a brand new ignition plate. (of course, the old one wouldn't have worked anyway.) And I didn't see any gauging of clearances, or anything like that.
*He's in Viet-Nam, likely Saigon* ( 50 and 90cc 'Cubs' are enormously popular there...because they use them for everything/anything and they're very rugged & easy to work on)

The Honda Cub is the world's most sold vehicle of any kind. Way more than 100 million produced from 1958 and up until today.

Nice work.Very enjoyable to watch.
Very good job!👍👍👍

Best thing about Honda is there parts department. Doesn’t matter what year you have, they got the part your gonna need.
In Brazil we say that you can find Honda parts even in a bakery😂
Unless it's an '88 Shadow 1100.

You should start restoring whole dirt bikes and make them look brand new

Except for the centrifugal clutch, there's really no difference.
Good job bro. 🔥 🔥 🔥
Another great job! Well done my Brother from another Mother. Whoever gets that bike will be fortunate!
Wow!Amazing job,you're a very good mechanic!
Un trabajo expectacular!! Impresionante el gran resultado de la restauración.
Always a pleasure to watch you work you make it look so easy :-)

i like the wire wheeling the aluminum case . looks nice
I had a mustard honda 50, ran great never a problem

Very good job!! Bravo!!

Skilled hands and quick mind.
Nice Job!! Great video.
Hello my friend..nice work.. But I think it's better to paint the engine with heat paint to protect the metal!
Well done bringing it back to life.

Fantastic video. I could have used this 25 years ago when I had a Honda CD-50 :-)

Nice job. I already forgot what part goes where!!🤣
you need a clear plastic shield for the wire brush, crazy

Awesome, what was used to remove the oxidation? it worked so fast!
I was wondering the same thing. I would like to know. Caustic soda maybe?
Great job man. Have a beautiful Christmas. What is that substance that you are using to remove the Aluminium corrosion?
thank you so much
What chemicals did you use to remove the oxidation on the side covers?
I noticed the kick start boss had broke out of the main case and had been welded back in place. Look close, you'll see the weld.
That engine looks identical to all the chinese dirt bike engines.
Chinese copies the honda engine same way predator engine from harbour freight is honda clone
This is real honda one! Any 50-160cc is copied out of real honda one
Hmm, a very unusual valve spring compressor!
Surprisingly, it seemed to work during assembly too.... :)
My God that’s some nasty oil! But it protected the innards of that engine. Wow!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
And it’s done right.
May you Please use gloves ( for your safety )
And remove the background music let us hear some satisfying sounds 😌
Who uses gloves you gay or something
Very nicely done! Congrats. Just a question... what liquid did you use to remove oxidation(grey stains) from aluminum (engine covers)? Thanks.
Супер
Honda sempre vive.

Yeah. Definitely some things there I would have done differently. For example, I'm not so sure it's a good idea to wire bush bearing surfaces and the whole ignition plate with the coils on it.
