Actually, one of the photographers on UA-cam, I enjoy the most watching since entertaining and also very informative. Please keep continuing of giving us great videos. 👏👏👏👌
Yes! This video format is just right! (As opposed to those Live Q&A sessions.)... This is interesting, pleasant, fun and above all, informative! This is the Gavin Hoey I like to watch!
Every time the same result - great work, great people, entertainment and so much to learn - thank you all for your work and the fun that comes over - I dont think, I have missed a viedeo in the last couple of years and hopefully, it will go on
If takes 1 Gavin with 10+ years of experience 3 hours to get 40 portfolio-worthy images, how long does it take to get 10 such images for a rookie with 1 year of experience? 😊 Thanks for yet another entertaining, informative, and concise video, Gavin!
Thats what i needed after a stressy day! I love love Gavin teaching us many different shoots or situation, he's incredible in doing so! Much Love to the UK. greetings from Tracey, Germany.
😊Perfect timing , my friend has just asked me to shoot a portfolio for her daughter that does acting and musical theatre. Thanks so much. I’ve been binge watching your videos that I’ve saved ❤
Great stuff as always. Thanks Gav and the team! Wnen i book a model I will always try to get at least a couple of completely different looks in the session. Sometimes I go in with a specific thing in mind, sometimes there is improvisation involved but a mood/ideas board is invaluable!
I’ve watched dozens and dozens of your videos and I love the all. Your expertise as well as your personality make great entertainment and learning for many. Having said that I’d love to see a video where there are no cameras, just your and Cloey sitting down being interviewed about who you both are as people. Maybe talk about your life and the interviewee can be your wife Sam.
You are the cause behind my interest for photography Gavin sir ,i learn studio photography from u and trying to establish myself in my town, thanks a lot sir🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hello Gavin!!! Excellent video!!! One of the best I've seen lately! Very good use of time! The quality of your work is impressive. I continue learning with you! A big hug from Argentina. Giorgio (Photographer) ************************************************************ Hola Gavin!!! Excelente Video!!! De los mejores que he visto ultimamente! Muy bueno el aprovechamiento del tiempo! La calidad de tu trabajo es impresionante. Sigo aprendiendo con vos! Un Abrazo grande desde Argentina. Giorgio (Fotógrafo)
Super video. Chloe's hair is always great with some wafting and wind. The post processing on first set was good. Hi-key with the drapes worked well, and the slot images were fantastic. Well done to All !
With the number of past shoots of Cloe, combined with these shots, Cloe should have an impressive portfolio. She is very beautiful. Thanks Cloe and Gavin. Some interesting ideas for me to borrow too.
Just awesome! Many years of experience, drive, planning, amazing Chloe, voice activated manual wind machine (sorry lovely Sam!😂) and Gavin creates a portfolio. Well, I guess we need to start calling you Dude Highness (ref The Big Lebowski) :)
Great session. In case that I don't have a projector can I accomplish something similas with a fresnel lens located far from the model and a cookie? Maybe the cookie can be blinds, with all but one covered?
Gavin I’m thinking of changing to this camera, mainly for portraits because of less weight and good eye focus tracking. My portraits are usually indoors , not massive space and I use flash. Which lens would you suggest to start with. I am currently using Nikon cropped sensor. Thanks
Watching this video for a second time (I revisit many of your videos). When you used the reflector to create hair movement, were you concerned about the gold reflective side casting a gold glow on Chloe?
Hello Gavin, I eagerly await Wednesdays to watch your videos, which are always a source of inspiration, especially for me, as I've been taking photos for just over three years. I've noticed that you experiment with lighting setups using a mannequin head. I'm curious to know how you study the setups that you later showcase in your videos. Just to understand how to practice when a model or subject isn't available, so as not to end up repeating the same setups every time. I have a Batman action figure, but it's not quite the same thing...🤣🤣🤣 Ciao from Lucca, Italy!
Did you make the backdrop you used for the "fine art" portion earlier in the video; or did you buy it? Is there a video you've done on making fine art backdrops? Thanks!
Gavin I noticed that some times you use just one hand to hold your camera and take the photo so my question is it the shutter speed, flash or something else or all of the above for you take great photos like you do without camera I shake and rotten photos ? Cheers Rick. Or the vibration reduction in the camera or lens ?
Gavin how can I keep my Ad400 from turning on the boom arm of the c stand. I try to set it over the models head like butterfly but it rotates no matter how tight I think I'm doing it
The first part is having the vision, then trying to accomplish it. When I've photographed people, I feel very rushed and can't think what to do when it's not working.
Love it

Amazing ♥
Nice!
Bravo👍
Always entertaining:)
💪 You 2 are so good 💪
That’s an awesome video, thank you! What about same concept, but commercial still life next??
Could you make a video going over tips and tricks when creating a mood board? I am really struggling with that part
I really like the look of your post processing photos. Do you have any videos that show how to get that look?
Great session.
In case that I don't have a projector can I accomplish something similas with a fresnel lens located far from the model and a cookie? Maybe the cookie can be blinds, with all but one covered?
Very beautiful pictures. It would be great if you showed some of the post process again.
Gavin I’m thinking of changing to this camera, mainly for portraits because of less weight and good eye focus tracking. My portraits are usually indoors , not massive space and I use flash. Which lens would you suggest to start with. I am currently using Nikon cropped sensor. Thanks
Hello,
Always amazed, great work!👏
Can you tell me what screen you're using to get the live picture?
Thanks
Was the choice of speed lights over strobes to help keep the setups as quick and easy as possible?
Watching this video for a second time (I revisit many of your videos). When you used the reflector to create hair movement, were you concerned about the gold reflective side casting a gold glow on Chloe?

What model is that C Stand with the short column? Thank you for yet another wonderfully informative and entertaining video!

Would you please consider doing a tutorial video on lighting couples(2 people) in a small studio? Can it be less challenging? Help!
aaaaaannnnnnndddd ANOTHER great video.
can in come to your studio and shoot with Chloe? i need a stunning model like her
As always excellent and very clear, just need to find a Chloe. The one I know is only 7 years old.
Gavin how can I keep my Ad400 from turning on the boom arm of the c stand. I try to set it over the models head like butterfly but it rotates no matter how tight I think I'm doing it
🤩😍
What are you using to view photos with the tether? Tablet? Are they jpeg or raw?
👍👍👍👍
The first part is having the vision, then trying to accomplish it. When I've photographed people, I feel very rushed and can't think what to do when it's not working.
What is the “black roof” thing you used called? I would like to purchase one!
It was just the black surface from a 5 in 1 reflector 👍
I guess how some Adidas ad is made...10:05
First.
Who would you say you would aim this style of portfolio too?
:) :) :)
