- Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
Today, I will give you a sketchbook tour of the sketchbook that I took with me to Tel Aviv, Israel. I went there to take a workshop taught by illustrators and urban sketchers Maru Godas and Marina Grechanik.
On Patreon, I posted another sketchbook tour today of the sketchbook I filled in class!
You'll notice that the sketchbook in today's video is not just dedicated to the trip. I use my sketchbook to draw daily - it's a visual journal. So it only makes sense to weave any trips into the pages in chronological order.
Some people dedicate separate sketchbooks for their travels. The risk is that you won't be able to fill the whole sketchbook and that can be a bit frustrating. Filling the whole sketchbook in the short amount of time that you're on a trip, while exploring the place you're in... that's kind of a lot. The pressure of a whole blank sketchbook, could be a bit too high. It's up to you, but I don't do it.
Sketchbook shown in this video: Hahnemühle Nostalgie sketchbook
Your assignment for this week is to go on a little adventure yourself. It can be really small. Take your sketchbook with you, when you go outside anyway - on a trip to the grocery shop for example. Take a few minutes or maybe a little bit longer to draw. You might discovr something new on a rout that you take regularly.
Have fun!

The drawing with the man with the beard and the hot pink was WOW!!
You are truly a living treasure. Thank you for all the encouragement
Wow, thank you
This might be my favorite of your sketchbook tours! Every drawing was beautiful. I like how the mediums and styles can slightly change from page to page, but overall it still has the distinctive "Koosje vibe" 💙
Thank you so much!
I love your line work! It was nice to see collage. Thank you for the sketchbook tour.
Glad you enjoyed it!
4:36 good job with the sketch of the old guy 🙂
Hi Koosje, from Madrid, Spain again (a New Yorker expat living abroad).
I have to say it again... you create great Art plein air-urban-daily life sketchbooks!!! I still have some difficulty on live on-the-street sketching (slowly getting better but still need lots if improvement!). 😣😣😅👍
BTW! I finally got 2 Nostalgie sketchbooks (A4 - Portrait size - I feel more comfortable in a bigger size sketchbook and the Portrait size is better for me because I have the hight as well as the landscape width using both pages). They are very good sketchbooks. The smoothness and natural white of the paper (as well as the thickness) is similar to Bristol paper, which I use for graphite, coloured pencils and ink (even light watercolor). So, Thank you for answering to my question in the other video. You've helped me choose my go-to mixed media sketchbook of choice from now on.
One last thing... real nice haircut! It suits you very well (I can't help but admire beauty when I see it and, please, don't worry... I'm not trying anything weird, it's just an honest compliment- besides my wife would kill me "slowly and painfully" otherwise). 😣😣🤣🤣🤣👍
Cheers from Sunny Spain!
😁👍😎
I’m glad it was helpful and that you bought two sketchbooks to enjoy working in. And thank you!
Coincidentally I just looked back on my travel sketchbook to Israel back in 2018 before this video. I was there for a month with my then boyfriend (now fiancé) to meet his family. The memories are still fresh in my mind when I look at my past drawings. I've been to Tel Aviv as well. Thank you for sharing. Beautifully done work!
That's a fun coincidence!
So much fun to see what other people sketch in their sketch book. I love the collages, I would like to incorporate more collage into my own pictures.
I have it on my list for a Draw Tip Tuesday video
But don’t wait for it, just grab some paper and stick it in your sketchbook. Then draw on top of it. It’s surprisingly fun (even if you don’t know what you’re doing!)
Really fun to see your travel sketches! I loved the bits of collage and colorful backgrounds that you added! I recently returned from an awesome trip to Spain, and I completed some travel journal-style pages during the trip and completed the rest when I got home. It was really fun to be working on the pages during the traveling or down time of the trip.
Thanks so much! 😊 And Spain!!
So sooooooo funny to see your sketchbook from my country with my language, etc..
So so sad to find out you 3 were so so close to me, and i didnt know !! I wish i knew- i would come to take the lessons...
Oh well... past cannot be changed.
Thank you for sharing❤
Hi Koosje, I can’t believe you popped up in my UA-cam and you live in Amersfoort! I’ve been watching a lot of various travel journal channels. I’m going to visit Amersfoort for several days in September. I’ll join your Patreon page. 😊
Oh that’s wonderful!!
Thank you for sharing your sketchbook. I very much enjoy your style of art and I am always inspired by your work.
Thank you very much!
It's always a pleasure to tour your sketchbooks, Koosje!
I'm still drawing erratically rather than daily but I love that you're changing my mind ~ giving me a new perspective about drawing.
Would love to get to that point of traveling and confidently drawing a lot and making memories that way. Thank you 🥰🥰💕
Oh You will like the video I have planned for next week!
We love how the line quality in your work is packed with descriptive information but always leaves room for expressiveness too! And always good advice to write your contact info in each sketchbook. That's a habit every artist should acquire, even if it's just a contact email
Thank you so much! (I know an artist who simply writes her gmail address on the cover of every sketchbook she starts).
Hi sweet Koosje ! Thank you for sharing your adorable and fun sketchbook ! You always lift up my spirits and make me smile seeing so many charming drawings page after page ! Adding collage has certainly gave them that extra punch of happiness ! Wish you a great week together with health and happiness to you and you husband who is a faithful inspiration to you to sketch ( not in this one though) !! 😁🙏🏼Warmest regards…Lorraine 😁❤️☹️
Thank you, Lorraine! I loved your comment/advice about drawing with the non-dominant hand. Thank you for that!
I love it! thanks for sharing it.
Always such a pleasure, this made me smile ❤
😊
Fantastic sketchbook! ❤
Thank you so much 😀
Wonderful video Koosje. So glad you went so that we could also enjoy the result of your lovley work again.
Someone’s got to do it 😉
@@KoosjeKoene koosje I came across a fabulous book in a second hand shop today. It's called Greece. Written by Henry Millet and Drawings by. Anne Poor. They are fabulous and so like your teaching us on Tuesdays it was published in1964. By Thames and Hudson.
@@annagray4208 sounds fantastic!
I love how colorful this sketchbook has been with all your workshops. Thanks for showing us how to get out of our comfort zone and testing new things!
You’re welcome. It’s great to get these new influences and incorporate them in your own style
Your gorgeous sketchbook art and descriptions of your interesting experiences are always inspiring. Thanks Koosje!💐
Glad you like it!
All the pages are amazing .❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
Adding the collage in is really lovely. I'm going to copy you when I'm able to do art again!
I think using collage like that totally suits you. I hope you get back to arting soon. 🤗
Your sketchbooks are always so playful, and it seems like they get even more colourful each time. Thank you for the tour. 😊
Thank you! My style is definitely changing over time.
The timing is so perfect, I'm on a train now, going to the seaside to visit my family, and I've already gotten one train drawing down! Thank you for the inspiration for the whole week 💐
Enjoy your trip and family visit!
@@KoosjeKoene aw thank you so much Koosje!
Your sketchbooks are always a treat and this one is even more striking. I absolutely love the collaged pages etc.
Thank you!!
Wow! this is an amazing sketchbook, you're so good at drawing people from life 😮
It takes a lot of practice to get relaxed and confident about it and then it’s just so much fun!
Awesome sketches, Koosje! ❤
Thank you!
Recently I broke my hand and I can’t draw for while so I am going to go straight to sketching after my cast comes off.
Hi ! Try using your non-dominant hand ! A few years ago while I attended adult art classes I got challenged by my tutor to do just that and guess what ?! I managed to do some really fun and quirky sketches that my tutor hung on the wall as proof that a good sketch can still happen even with your non dominant hand ! Try it ! At least it will lift up your spirts ! Wish you a speedy recovery dear friend ! Warmest regards…Lorraine 🎨🤗
Thanks I will try just that😊
@@explosivestudios1463 🙏🏻🤗🥰
Love it love it love it. What is that thing that keeps changing colour as you draw?? You’ve used it many times in your sketchbooks. Looks lovely.
It’s a rainbow pencil, also known as the magic pencil. It has different colors in one lead. Koh-I-Noor has them but there are more brands out there.
