You could glue the Velcro to the rug, but it could devalue the rug. With hand knotted rugs, repairs or additions are likewise sewn by hand as a general rule

I am trying to sew into carpet it is EXTREMELY difficult I don't see any info on how people are getting the needle through without going through the whole thing?!

On this rug, we are “catching” the foundation yarns that the rug is knotted on. Other rugs may have very tight construction and yes it is at times very difficult! You can also use clips to mount with. Woodworkers can fabricate a clamping system that runs the length to hold the rug securely

@@Rochestercarpetcare thank you for replying (: I ended up sewing a thick muslin tube for curtain rod style, and attached it using a thick curved needle and pliers, going through the whole rug and making sure you couldn't see from the front by pulling up the fibers around the thread that was visible.

@@wanderingintime awesome! Lots of different solutions. Some people will hang tackless strip for installing wall to wall carpeting on the wall, and then carefully hang the rug on the small pins. But you have to be very careful, as the pins could cause damage.

Nice idea. I wonder if I can use this method for heavier carpets? Thanks.

Thank you for this video. THe Velcro idea is great...I hadn't thought about sewing a Velcro strip to it. Is there a video for how I place the velcro on the wall? I see you have a strip of wood and a strip of Velcro on the wood...is that right?

Yes that’s right! We staple the Velcro onto a strip of hardwood and then it can be screwed to the wall, hitting the studs. If you can’t find the studs, most of the rugs we hang are small to medium sized, and drywall anchors will suffice. Thanks for watching!

Turkic peoples, arabs, persian, people of the caucasus all hang rugs on their walls. I think it helps with insulation.

Русские тоже. В бывшем СССР всё вешали ковры на стены. Для шумоизоляции, для теплоизоляции, для красоты!!!

We did that in Poland. Sadly that tradition is dying
