@@ulisesorizaga I'm 63 and people routinely think I'm no older than 50. I stayed out of the sun and wore sunscreen regularly, so that's probably why I look younger than most people my age. I just started using Retin-A nightly a few months ago, so no visible effects yet. It takes 6 to 12 months of regular use to see results.
@@ulisesorizaga they probably didn't see your question but I'm 43. Acne has been the bane of my existence so I've used tretinoin since forever. It's been 2 years with tretinoin cream; about 6 months ago I started putting it right under my left eye to try to erase a dark spot freckle type of thing. The spot is GONE and my left eye looks 10 years younger than the right one, it's so weird but I didn't really notice until someone pointed it out. It's an accidental perfect control sample in a mini experiment; tretinoin under the eye does *wonders*
I’ve been using tret around my entire eye without issues for over three years now. Like I don’t make a point of applying it to my eye lid the same way I do along the orbital bone, but some of the cream is definitely getting onto my eyelid as I rub it in everywhere else along my eye socket. I haven’t experienced any sensitivity or side effects there. The only part of my face that I’ve ever gotten sensitive from tret use has actually been my forehead, and I assume that that’s just because that’s the part of my face that’s always been the most dry. I can even apply straight to neck (which Dr. Idris has mentioned she has issues with) without any problem. As far as my neck’s concerned, it may as well be just another layer on moisturizer.
Foolishly, I did. I have very sensitive Fitzpatrick phototype 1 skin; I applied a Strong retinol hoping to eventually "blur" the fine lines/ crepey skin around my eyes. It burned my skin- became bright red by the morning and looked like I had aged twenty years; and then, my under eye area began to peel... I had to wash the area with unscented baby wash and apply just a thin layer of Vaseline for the next week & a half. Lesson learned. 😞
I was told many years ago by a dermatologist that tretinoin on my eyelids was fine as long as it didn’t irritate. It doesn’t so I use it. No eye problems so far, I look much younger than my age, but I’m concerned by these warnings so will scale back and see if I notice any difference
I used my 0.025% tretinoin three times per week and had no issues. I'd apply it under my eyes and on the bone just under my eyebrows. Like you say, *never* on the actual lids. I'm on 0.05% now and haven't used it there yet, but eventually I will.
I learned the hard way NOT to put tret on my eyes and I wasn't even intentionally putting it there 😂. It happened because I would put it on the bridge of my nose and then wear glasses before bed (I need glasses cuz I'm blind as a bat without them). I guess the glasses made it easier for the tret to transfer onto my eyelids and I had dry, scaly patches on the inner corners of my eyelids for months until i figured out what i was doing wrong 🙃 My eyelids have thankfully gone back to normal since i stopped applying tret on my nose bridge.
i use adapalene on my eyelids and under eye - no issues (I've very sensitive skin). I apply adapalene on my cheeks, forehead nose and chin and with the same hand then go over the eye lids and under eyes and the neck area.
Since 1985 I’ve been using a tiny drop of retina A 0.1% under my eyes only. Top it with whatever eye cream I was using. Results are I’m 72 yrs old and I look old. No way to beat the clock and win. Not for me anyway! I still use some makeup and skincare! Some habits both good and bad are tough to break imho! Have a Happy and safe 4th of July weekend Dr and everyone!🥰🇺🇸
The problem is creams can migrate to the Meibomian Glands so it's important to keep lash area clear of cream or even apply a light eye cream first under the lashes to prevent the migration of retinol.
The only time retinol eye cream seems to dehydrate the skin on my eyes (I use it on the upper eyelid as well) is when I top it with vaseline. Let me tell you, vaseline intensifies retinol's effect SO MUCH for me.
Idk this so I have used it around my eyes since I started using retinol. Luckily, I never had an issue I guess. I am careful when applying anything around my eyes thou and I never get too close to the lash because I am terrified of getting stuff in my eyes especially product that could burn.
I use tritinion.025 on my eye lids because I have hyper pigmentation. I initially started to use it for a couple of hours and then increased the frequency. In fact I have started to see the results
I guess we all react differently to certain medication but like others here I was left with scarly patches in the inner corners of my eyelids still 12+ months on 😢 they are very sensitive now and itchy and sore. I believe I may of used a tad to much or it just doesn’t agree with my skin Retinols. I used a well know brand too. only used it bcs a older lady from work kept telling me I looked ropy for a girl my age not quite 20. I had slight puffiness to start with and dark circles from childhood due lack of sleep. I barely wear makeup too as my skin is Amazing on my face apart from the panda eyes. Wish I never tried 😭
I use a retinal around my eyes, both eyelids and under and have no problems (and I actually have pretty sensitive skin overall) 🤷♀️ Go figure. I only use it every other night currently, though.
I have no problem using tret around my eyes. Of course I’m careful not to get it IN my eyes or near the water-line. Fore me there is no ‘explosion’ whatsoever. HOWEVER, the same cannot be said for my neck. My neck HATES retinoids with a passion. No tret for my neck or I pay a very high and painful price.
I worked my way up to it, during my first year of Tretinoin I avoided my under eye area. It’s been almost 3-years now and I now use under my eyes. Avoiding my lower lash line. BUT I DONT APPLY TO MY EYELIDS.
I use tret on my whole face and my neck area and I use a specific retinol for the under eyes the roc retinol eye cream and then on most days I use the roc retinol vitamin c balm under my eyes and it has lightened my dark under eyes immensely I love it!
I have really dry eyes and I rub them a lot so unfortunately this won't work out for me 😭 this is also why I have to wash my hands after applying Tretinoin and the moisturiser afterwards because I don't want to risk any damage to my eyes when I touch them. And lmao this is also the reason I stopped using it because it honestly was a hassle.
I have tried several times but it causes severe irritation under my eyes and sides of my nose. Tried so many different moisturisers as a base but my skin can’t take it! 💔
I use .1% Tretinoin cream around my eyes and on my eyelids with Shisedo eye cream and it works great! I get peeling and my eyelids look almost lifted after about a year of doing this. I did use retinol products on my eyes for years before this though, so I’m sure that’s helped prime my eyes for the intensity of straight Tretinoin.
I had a serious allergic reaction to retinol, my eyelids became swollen and itchy. After this incident, I had one sagging eyelid, it took a year to recover and tighten it up.
This is very helpful. May i ask what do you do for dry eyelashes? I had eyelash glue from professional lash extensions get on my lash at the base- the folical. Ive lost that lash and always had dryness their for multiple years now. Approx 2 years

Use an eye balm over the retinol. You'll thank me. I use intensive eye balm by equilibrium hourglass. It's the best purchase I've ever made. All their stuff is freaking amazing.
I have used both Geek and Gorgeous Retinal 0.1% and YTTP Retinal+Niacinamide serum at 0.15% everywhere, eyes, lids and lips with almost no irritation. very very rarely I Will get a small amount of dryness on corners of my mouth, but taking a couple days off fixes it np
Do you put it on your upper eyelids?
I use it on mine: 0.1% Retin-A mixed with moisturizer. I started with 0.05% and worked up to 0.1%
You should be careful mixing it directly with the moisturiser tho, it can separate into patchy bits and leave large amounts of retinol in some spots. (I use retinaldehyde too tho lol, it's very gentle)
I have a question bc I do something similar, and I hope it’s not rude, but what’s ur age? And do you see improvement?
Can you, please, give a short and clear answer ? Yes or Not , and why. Merci d'avance. Tout le cinéma ...nous n'avons pas besoin !
I have always used retina around my eyes, thank goodness. I am 72 years old and have used retina for years. Barely any wrinkles!
My derm told me use tret under my eyes but to mix it 1:1 with my moisturizer first. No issues so far.
Geez Suzanne that must’ve hurt 😢
Is it okay to use if your eyelid skin tolerates it well?
My god the editing on this ....the subs are hilarious 😂
I was told many years ago by a dermatologist that tretinoin on my eyelids was fine as long as it didn’t irritate. It doesn’t so I use it. No eye problems so far, I look much younger than my age, but I’m concerned by these warnings so will scale back and see if I notice any difference
I used my 0.025% tretinoin three times per week and had no issues. I'd apply it under my eyes and on the bone just under my eyebrows. Like you say, *never* on the actual lids. I'm on 0.05% now and haven't used it there yet, but eventually I will.
I need that crew neck though. You look stunning in it
Dr. You are so beautiful 😍
I always wondered. What can we use. Thank you so much for telling us.
Honestly anything with Vaseline as a barrier clutch/buffer is interesting to work with. :)
Love you videos ❤
I love that top so much 😍
I learned the hard way NOT to put tret on my eyes and I wasn't even intentionally putting it there 😂. It happened because I would put it on the bridge of my nose and then wear glasses before bed (I need glasses cuz I'm blind as a bat without them). I guess the glasses made it easier for the tret to transfer onto my eyelids and I had dry, scaly patches on the inner corners of my eyelids for months until i figured out what i was doing wrong 🙃
My eyelids have thankfully gone back to normal since i stopped applying tret on my nose bridge.
That's not what she's talking about, but good point.
i use adapalene on my eyelids and under eye - no issues (I've very sensitive skin). I apply adapalene on my cheeks, forehead nose and chin and with the same hand then go over the eye lids and under eyes and the neck area.
Tretinoin spreads anyway so there’s actually no reason to heap it on especially around the eyes. I just spread it there with whatever is left
I use my eye cream around my eyes and face, then put on my Retin A under and one the side of my eyes. No problem.
I use it for years, didnt explode yet but kinda excited to see that one now.
The problem is creams can migrate to the Meibomian Glands so it's important to keep lash area clear of cream or even apply a light eye cream first under the lashes to prevent the migration of retinol.
I never had a problem with any type of retinoid around my eyes & i've been using retinoids for 5+ years now.
You may live to regret this 😊
I’ve used it sparingly under my eyes. It doesn’t sting or hurt. It seems to make the skin firmer. I use an eye cream too.
Worked for me . Thankfully.
I have used it around the eyes for years and no irritation there at all ❤
Love the picture
That pic was an amazing example
I put moisturizer on and around my eyelids and lip area before puting my retinol on. Stops me getting all red and flaky.
The only time retinol eye cream seems to dehydrate the skin on my eyes (I use it on the upper eyelid as well) is when I top it with vaseline. Let me tell you, vaseline intensifies retinol's effect SO MUCH for me.
I do - because that’s where I need it! No issues.
Very beautiful picture
Thanks for responding to my comment 🥰 but where’s the rest of the video 😩
I’ve been using it aaaaall over my face chin and neck for over 5 years and all is good
Ur so smart ❤.. I noticed a big change when I put on eye cream with the residue from the Tretinoin cream on my lids/eye area.. and no irritation
I use a retinal around my eyes, both eyelids and under and have no problems (and I actually have pretty sensitive skin overall) 🤷♀️ Go figure. I only use it every other night currently, though.
I kinda use the CeraVe (blue bottle) retinol under the eye using the moisture sandwich method and have observed no issues for my skin.
I’ve always used it around my eyes and it’s never caused any issues with mine at all.
Loved the picture
I’ve been using it on my eyelids and honestly no issues whatsoever
I use encapsulated retinol on my lids and under eyelid area and haven't encountered dry eyes.
Thank God I checked the comments, I was about to give a call to my Lasik surgeon.
I only put it on lower outer corner, never on eyelid and I have no irritation there luckily 😊
I just tap whatever I have left on the tips of my fingers around my eyes and eyelids then a moisturiser on top. It works just fine.
You have, by far, the most unhelpful shorts in the history of youtube. Congrats.
Can we use castor oil on eyelashes for growth?? Does it helps in lash growth?
I don’t use it around my eyes. Actually surprised so many people do.
I had a serious allergic reaction to retinol, my eyelids became swollen and itchy. After this incident, I had one sagging eyelid, it took a year to recover and tighten it up.
This video isn't really helpful because it cuts off with no conclusive opinion or answers? Clickbait...
I put it over moisturizer around my eyes, neck and chest
This is very helpful. May i ask what do you do for dry eyelashes? I had eyelash glue from professional lash extensions get on my lash at the base- the folical. Ive lost that lash and always had dryness their for multiple years now. Approx 2 years
