It's almost a much when I run duty roulettes as I've saved many a run with the healer has died and with the recent buffs the damage output is quite good. My only real hope is that in 6.0 they make the job faster by allowing you to build meter at twice the rate to go into your melee combo much faster and to possible give you a multi-part melee aoe combo that ends in a powerful aoe finisher like the single-target version. I wouldn't even mind if the buttons change automatically like in PVP for each part of the combo as buttons already transform into other buttons now when you finish the melee combo. It'd be a very simple place to consolidate buttons.

Love that they are great with magicks AND weapons. In XIV, i'm not the biggest fan of positionals or having to stay in one spot (mainly because i also am dumb when it comes to boss mechanics) but with Red Mage, I have great mobility as well as multiple choices for both AOE's and single target skills. However, the best thing about Red Mage is how fashionable they are, how elegant and graceful their animations are, and just how flashy and over the top their spells and skills are. Absolute eye candy. I'm barely level 72, but one gripe is I do have is the job quest. I wish the job quest storyline was a bit more interesting or unique, but overall it's a minor and personal thing.
Same. I've even had some clutch moments where I single-handedly prevented a wipe. First one was in a Light Party instance (though I forget which one exactly) and in the last boss fight the healer went down, and then I managed to get the healer back up in time to prevent a TPK. And after we won, one of the other players remarked that when the healer went down they thought it was a wipe, and they were confused when the Healer was suddenly alive again....until they realized it was the RDM who got the healer back on their feet. My favorite one, however, was hands-down during the boss fight with Ultima at the end of Orbonne Monastery, we're in the "calm before the storm" where we are just about to begin the phase transition and start the "Ruination" part of the boss fight. Alliance B & C are mostly fine (each had, at most, one downed member that was quickly enough revived), but Alliance A (my Alliance) got demolished with only two survivors, that being myself (the sole RDM in Alliance A) and a BRD. Or Tank and both Healers were down, as were 3 of our DPS. In the 15-20 seconds available before the Ruination phase began, I was able to revive our Tank, both Healers, and two of our DPS (only DPS I wasn't able to revive in time was our NIN,but that was only because I ran out of MP getting the other 5 revived). And then while the Ruination phase is active, I'm able to slip a Dualcast-Verraise in to revive our NIN, while still helping to dish out enough DPS to complete the Ruination phase of the fight. Not long after Ruination was over, I saw comments like "Red Mage Best Job" and "I think you mean rez mage" popping up in Alliance chat. Made me feel so damn good to get that kind of praise and recognition.
I hate that you have to wait til lvl 50 for a lot of these jobs. Someone ingame told me I could play SAM at 30 and I really started working my Rogue, but then found out it's 50. The only thing caster-wise I have even close is my Black Mage at 41. Not changing that lol. I really like your vids Desperius. Thank you for making them.
I was playing Black Mage for awhile but I swapped to Red Mage main because I really like the versatility, I still love BLM but I would consider them my second fav job now. I think it took some levels for me to get happy and comfortable with RDM
I reaaaally want to see a Blue Mage one of these. I feel like so many people discount or ignore Blue Mage just because the class can't do a couple pieces of content. Even though the truth is, it can do the majority of the stuff in the game. You can farm mounts on Blue, you can run synced Dungeons, Trials and Raids on Blue (often solo). You can now play every role. The class is amazing and deserves more respect. So it can't do the latest Savage content, meh, that's not even relevant for the vast majority of players. Not to mention the Masked Carnivale, Blue Log, and Morbol mount, all of which are Blue Mage only content, and a darn good reason to play the class.
RDM has been my main ever since the Job became available, though I have been dabbling in GBR lately since it's a Tank that tends to play more like a DPS.
For awhile, I thought about dumping RDM because its simple rotation until I realized I had to do 15+ veraises per alliance raid minimum. I felt like orbonne monastery would never get finished in in DF
Red Mage is really fun and my main job, but ironically I did my best shot with my second favorite job: Gunbreaker, I was tanking for the first Time Sastasha (Hard) on the fight against the Kraken, the DPS didn't kill his arms and took the tornado who kill the 2 DPS and the Heal aroud 50% of the boss life but I didn't noticed at all (because on my layout the team vitals are on the other side of enmity) before my mates were hyped when it was at 1% and look their vitals who were all at 0. So gunbreaker is really a fun and good job with his good damage (for a tank), mitigation and self heal
really? why'd u switch? i kinda of switched from RDM to MCH hahahaha, i like the big burst dmg from spamming heat blast. Drill animation is pretty cool too! I switched cause i find it takes too long to build enough mana to jump into melee, although i really love how mobile RDM is.

I think it’s crazy that you think Red mage is the best easiest. Honestly I can’t say much because I haven’t played any other caster, but when I first started red mage immediately felt like it could be the most complex. I only started red mage a day ago and I’m already feeling like a pro lol. Once you know the base of the class it’s simple, but it did a really good job at hiding that for the first little bit.
@@DesperiusFFXIV well, Red Mage has my attention at the moment. I like the idea of summoner, but I don’t like dot classes much. I can never get them down
From personal experience and watching others on UA-cam, the best jobs for soloing difficult dungeons, trials, raids? Red mage, blue mage, paladin, warrior... sometimes healers too, if meeting DPS checks aren't a problem... level 80 dps jobs can solo certain content because they can deal enough damage to kill the boss before the boss can kill them, such as a dancer soloing the old ARR level 50 raids, the Coils of Bahamut (Normal), a samurai or a summoner killing Nael in T9 (Normal) in less than a minute... level 80 ninjas soloing the level 60 Heavensward dungeon Baelsar's Wall in several minutes... one wonders adversely affected blue mages will be in soloing content in Endwalker, though, if they will be capped at level 80... I've seen on UA-cam level 70 blue mages solo the level 70 Stormblood dungeons The Burn and The Ghimlyt Dark, the level 70 Stormblood trial Castrum Fluminis, and the level 60 Heavensward raid Alexander 12 (Savage)... a level 70 blue mage mimicking a healer, with Basic Instinct and Mighty Guard on, can solo a lot of multiplayer content... a level 80 red mage has soloed Alexander 5 (Savage)...
I'm probably gonna get in to ff 14 when the new expansion comes out and I'm thinking of maining red mage. We'll have to see if I like other classes better, but it seems the most interesting and fun to me.
I would recommend at least starting the game since most content is locked behind the main story and not character level. ARR takes a decent amount of time (especially post main story) to get through so playing through that is probably the best way you’ll experience the game when end walker comes out.
I just got into FF14 after years and years of envy watching from afar. Trying to find a good community and good class to get started. I hate story and leveling so purchased MSQ skip to stormbringers & a couple of job level skips. RDM and DNC seem to be right up my alley but given I have no one that plays the game, it seems as usual that dps is overloaded. Any tips in general for me to get caught up and ready for endwalkers?
Always had big issues with the saying that RDM is a good solo class. When you're not blatlantly overpowered for the content, it's not that good. Yesterday I just fought a rank three mechanical hand in Bozja and died. There was just too much damage to heal. I retried after that and hard casted vercure to dual cast dps spells. Things went better but you just have the dps of a tank now with the squishiness of a dps. Meanwhile with paladin, those mobs don't cause any trouble.
I think it's the difference between "solo content" and "soloing content." One would imply current, or at least single-player content, and the other implies older stuff that was/would be group content. The two best jobs for soloing content are definitely Paladin and Red Mage (with Dragoon definitely behind for those for the more infrequent bouts of damage in old content, but you need the damage and defense to make up for the lack of healing) but that's not to say it'll always go smooth. Going into current/near current content caster is a 50/50 chance of success I find, however.
@@Valanway That's a good opinion. I soloed unsynchronized all the dungeon during my msq progression from heavenwards up to the castle dungeon in stormblood (with few exceptions). I found that if you're not at least 100 ilevel above the dungeon with RDM you're going to have big troubles clearing it. While SCH and PLD do it far more easily. Starting at around 50 ilevel above, SCH is no more capable, but PLD still do it. At 15 or less ilevel above, PLD start getting big trouble. After that, soloing dungeons is near impossible.
I dont know if it is only me but I noticed that when you run as a Red Mage with your weapon drawn you run a little faster than normal. In other jobs you cant do that. Is it a thing?? or am i just imagining stuff??
So I'm lvl 61 now with my RDM and I want to become a better healer. I use tha PS4 controller 🎮 so I'm having a hard time trying to help heal when I should be healing. Now I kno how to heal myself, but I have no idea how to heal players fast! I need that muscle memory heeling TIPS bro 💯
easier way to learn is by doing potd or hoh or by playing as a healer, thats what i did and i used whm class to help u get in the habit of switching though fellow players also it could be ur setup, cycle through players use the d-pad up and down to cycle through who to heal. but like u said it comes with muscle memory another thing u can try is if u are apart of a fc go through potd or hoh with them so the pressure to heal fast right away is not as great.
Looked to me like the Exarchic gear - the third crafted set in Shadowbringers - but dyed red in some cases, while the other was that Scion Traveler's chestpiece, also dyed red. We have a theme.
Came back from a long break recently and started leveling a RDM. At 70 right now and I'm finding it quite fun. All the spells feel nearly identical though which might get old....
Kinda new to the game and I was really looking forward to playing RDM.. and so far I have only heard bad things about them, from being weaker than the other two casters, to being downright boring, and finally -- when I mention Savage progression, I get laughed at. :( You give me some hope, so you think this job is fine for Savage? Also, my second favorite is Summoner, and here's hoping I can share gear between the two. (I *think* both require crit first)
From what I’ve heard the damage differences between the classes is like 2-3%. I’m also a beginner but I was told every class in the game is viable for all content, so it’s weird you’d hear that about savage progression.
I just picked the red mage because of the melee/casting but as I am playing it over the last few days. You rarely get to do melee combat until you get those white and blue bars up.
14 certainly has a unique take on RDM that I can appreciate, however it's far from my favorite iteration (that lofty title goes to 11) While I doubt they will ever create an actual support category (where RDM belongs) I do hope that Endwalker expands on their utility a bit more so RDM is a bit less of a DPS and more of a flex support like it should be. Oh how I miss my enhancing and enfeebling magic from Vana'diel. The swordplay is top notch though
I love maining RDM - not only do we yeet ourselves off platforms, but we do it with STYLE. =)

You really sold me on this holy shit
i recently moved over to rdm as i was burnt out of playing tanks this expansion and sort of adopted it as my new main
@Crust i thought ur profile pic was a hair on my screen. You sir like to watch the world burn.
Yo I need the details of that glamour looks awesome!
Yes. It’s 🔥
I was getting ready to try it for the first time but now it seems daunting.
I love red mageeeee so satisfying to get my melee burst rotation online!!
Just switched from MCH to RDM now I got to level 80, finding RDM confusing to MCH's instant pew pew.
really? why'd u switch? i kinda of switched from RDM to MCH hahahaha, i like the big burst dmg from spamming heat blast. Drill animation is pretty cool too! I switched cause i find it takes too long to build enough mana to jump into melee, although i really love how mobile RDM is.
@@merrilllee4878 max levelled my mch. And needing a caster dps for the Shadowbringers role quests. I job potioned it to 70 a while back while I decided what to use for the last expansion. Ended up running Shb with my gnb and ast instead. I prefer MCH after two days of RDM now lv 74 slowly getting hang of it, until I lose track of my rotation and procs while avoiding AOEs and boss mechanics.
The other very serious con RDM has: dualcasting sprint
At least they fixed it with lucid dream
been dual maining red mage and monk for a little over a year. lol its good fun and im rly enjoying the update they got. but now i see red mages and monks EVERYWHERE. where was that energy before 5.4? xD
Nothing feels as good as backsliding out of an AoE into Verholy
Also I would mention that Vercure is super useful in solo content and world encounters
lol.now i actually wanna play it😂havent touched the rdm after unlocking
thumbnail got me watching
RDM is a triumph of class design.
rdms can regularly out dps drgs, mch and nin in a lot of savage content ....but people still think rdm is one of the weaker dps jobs
Okay, the video just started but: That outfit. I must know the glam.
Edit: All of them.
Then you will have fun on the Summoner 😅👍
What's that scarf you have on your character? Looks great!
1:23 she said "are u hard casting rez instead of"... What? Idk what she's saying. Can u explain what happened? Because she was hella amazed bro.
I think she said "Instead of dualcasting", the trait that would make it instant-cast.
I'm probably gonna get in to ff 14 when the new expansion comes out and I'm thinking of maining red mage. We'll have to see if I like other classes better, but it seems the most interesting and fun to me.
reccomended to get in before the new expansion as you get to play new expansion content unless u r a minimum lvl of 80
I would recommend at least starting the game since most content is locked behind the main story and not character level. ARR takes a decent amount of time (especially post main story) to get through so playing through that is probably the best way you’ll experience the game when end walker comes out.
gear and weapon at 9:03?
0:25 - 0:45 King.
Lol the ultimate shame is getting caught hard casting raise on RDM. My soul hurt during that clip lol.
Honestly my favorite job to play. I just try to steer away from it because it feels like it's an overly congested job...
Any tips in general for me to get caught up and ready for endwalkers?
playing FFXIV and paying to skip the story is like buying a pie and paying extra for them to dump out the filling before they give it to you.
This series could be called "Why you shouls spend 100.000 hours leveling up all the jobs."
Does anyone know if their is a easy way to lock on to opponents in pvp ? N dungeons ?
Lovely guide but the problem is Pink guy can solo Bahamut with his chromosome magics.
Check out work to games controller guides if you need help targeting.
Healing really isn't your job as a Red Mage tho
Curious what glamour your using for your Red Mage? Cause it looks badass!
Looked to me like the Exarchic gear - the third crafted set in Shadowbringers - but dyed red in some cases, while the other was that Scion Traveler's chestpiece, also dyed red. We have a theme.
Currently got a level 35 and I’m grinding super super hard for the red mage. I currently use summoner so I’m hoping to ditch it soon
go scholar, heal dungeons (because you always get insta Q) lvl up to 50 in a couple of hours, switch to red mage and voila
What's the weapon shown in the beginning of the video?
Are you hard casting raise? AS A RED MAGE!?
What robe is your RDM wearing? :)
I love RDM because it's VERy VERsatile!!
I am a simple man. I see Pink Guy, I press "like."
(I *think* both require crit first)
Play what you like you’ll enjoy the game more I promise
From what I’ve heard the damage differences between the classes is like 2-3%. I’m also a beginner but I was told every class in the game is viable for all content, so it’s weird you’d hear that about savage progression.
Don't play with WoW mentality.
I just picked the red mage because of the melee/casting but as I am playing it over the last few days. You rarely get to do melee combat until you get those white and blue bars up.
What mic do you have its so clear. I need it lol
Its the Razer Seiren, the old big one. Kinda the same hardware as the Blue Yeti
Dont care what anyone says. The Murglies Anemos is the best RDM weapon glamour ever. Try to change my mind. He's flexing it hard.
It is indeed and yes, I am flexing it 🤭
Rapier of the Demon.
i think it's better and the red and white sprites that follow it fit the aesthetic of RDM really well
@@shinra6913 gonna have to look that up
Red Mage is the Ret Paladin of WoW??
basically if you threw Ret, fire mage, and boomkin into one spec
Just finished getting WAR to 80 and now I'm going to work on RDM :)
Can you do a why play PLD vid next? Lol
Next will be BLM but Paladin will be after it
The hats mean we win
Wonder what job I like?
My UA-cam name predates ff14. My love for the red mage class started back in ff1.
whenever I play FF1, I always have to have a red mage on my team. Sure, they don't get the most powerful spells, but they've got HEART.
Why you shouldn’t play RDM: It’s kinda basic. I feel like only SAM is more popular among DPS
14 certainly has a unique take on RDM that I can appreciate, however it's far from my favorite iteration (that lofty title goes to 11)
While I doubt they will ever create an actual support category (where RDM belongs) I do hope that Endwalker expands on their utility a bit more so RDM is a bit less of a DPS and more of a flex support like it should be.
Oh how I miss my enhancing and enfeebling magic from Vana'diel. The swordplay is top notch though

Any chance you could use non-story content for your videos?
I do, no MSQ was hurt during the filming of this video 😅
DRK please!
The best thing in this video? CRITICAL DISENGAGEMENT LMAO
Weird i suck ass at the red mage. Now ninja can do that better somehow
the only issue... the gears, they looks meh
He does a Z from Zorro bruh
