Great to see another upload. It's been too long. One driver I'd be happy to lend my car to. Safe as houses, analytical and respectful of others and their motors. A dream drive(r). More?
Great to see a video and you back. That I30n didnt do bad to keep a small gap! The car is brilliant and a credit to AReeve seen it at a few track days and it amazes me each time.
More of the same please Dale. When you have a setup like this with copious amounts of Torque, it shows that you don't need to thrash the bollox off it to achieve epic results. Awesome driving Dale, loved it. Vielen Dank fur den Upload Dale. Machs gut.
The tune on this car is honestly ridiculous. So easy to keep up with 'better' cars, like GT3s, etc... because it's got decent response and PLENTY of power. It's easy to forget the kerb weight...
@@BTGDale I ran into him at Ring Garage after, said he did his best lap in the i30 on Monday (7:45 ish IIRC) He also has a signal yellow 718 GT4 that he did a 7:2x with previously, pretty amazing considering he goes from the driving seat straight into his wheelchair and his alcantara wheel is worn down on the side where his hand controls are. Top bloke.
So this is a basic function of many Bosch (and Tewes and... and.. ) systems for about 20 years. They have extraordinary maps (tables) that look at lateral G, throttle position, steering angle, etc... and then just before you reach the limit of what the car can do, they actually tap the outside front brake. Sounds weird, but it makes the car understeer as it pitches forward and outside of the turn. This is to prevent the back axle slipping first. Nowadays these limits can be 'learnt' and the tables have modifiers including temperature, and even 'learned' grip levels (Ferrari did that a while ago!). It's interesting stuff, and I just got to peek through the glass at it, without learning enough, when I was doing some test driver stuff. Would love to learn more!

@@BTGDalethe only UA-camr that I know capable of explaining such things
I’m still debating whether I should go for a manual G87 with similar mods or just get a GTS manual. I already own a GT4 RS and a 2.0 Cayman, and I’m very conflicted. I’d like to try something different, but I don’t want to spend 30k on a new G87 only to regret it later. The car seems pretty raw, and that’s exactly what I’m looking for. How does this car compare to a stock G87?
Well, truth be told, I'm not a big F87 or G87 fanboy, they're cool, but i never catch myself wanting to own one - and when compared to a GT4RS they're heavy tanks with compromised suspension (let's not talk about the Macpherson's in the GT4RS, or we'd be here all day). They do have raw torque, and bad behaviour, and weight, which can all be a nice counter-point to a 718 chassis, so I get the attraction. But F87 GTS, or G87? The G87 is faster out the box, for sure. But the 4RS is better than both, at the cost of comfort and space etc... tough choices, I have no worthwhile opinions.
Thanks for the input. I have the chance to get a 2020 13k miles, never damaged, full carbon panels(inc doors) f87, gt4 m4 suspension parts, intrax suspension and lots of other goodies, (80k in parts alone) Owner tracked the car for 10 days. Asking 60k… i hope it will drive more like a Porsche. Will check the car next weekend. To good to pass
Yeah! Easy sub-8 guy in a DCT Hyundai! Mr JC Viggen says it's on hand-controls too, so definitely want to know more. I edited the video so you could see he kept catching me :)
@@BTGDale awesome, went with the taxi hyundai and was impressed. off topic: are you still doing the motor trackday help for next year for non german speakers? i want in!
I love your videos, but please invest in some microphones. To be able to hear the specs of the M2 from the owner, I had to turn up the volume, but then you came up too loud.
I drove an M2 CSL on track in the USA. Honestly? Terrible, in fact one of the worst chassis I've ever experienced. Zero ability to competently accelerate off corner. Brakes, equally terrible, zero feel with the electric brake by wire. Engine is fantastic, BMWs chassis engineers are out to lunch.
I guess you mean a CS? I think the CSL was a one-off concept car? Anyways... yeah, stock chassis the BMWs I've driven are all great up until 90% when it all goes badly wrong. They're setup with a mission; not to kill the average 24-year-old inner-city hero the first time they take a junction too fast. This car has completely different geometry, rose-joints, etc... you're looking at big caster changes, lots of camber ( -4.something up front which seems to be very well behaved, all things considered!)
I think you got it all wrong. Dale was driving (proper driving, not trying to pretend to drive!) and filming on the Nurburgring when Misha still couldn´t vote... I follow dale since the old days when he had the blue Mx-5 Turbo. Misha who?!
1st Comment. Winning
Confirmed, and pinned! Won!
It's refreshing to see a competent driver with a comprehensive opinion of a car again! We need more Dale!

Great and respectful driving accompanied by your thoughts on the car, best Nrb video I've seen in a long time.

Good video Dale - showing other UA-camrs how to drive respectably on the ring 👍 looking forward to more content.
That thing is brutal! And so is the car..
This car is insane. To think it was ‘only’ on 580bhp, seems more than enough!
Smoothly driven❤!
Looking forward to watching this. Godfather of UA-cam!
I love your feedback, always really interesting
Sick smooth as silk drive, cool car, driving setup camera + audio was amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks buddy!
What a beast! I would love to see a onboard video like this when you're running the full power map

Thats a cool explanation of how the M mode works when it senses oversteer. Does that also apply to all bmw M cars with M/MDM mode?
