Can you do a video showing the correct way to open, convert and manipulate the pdf to send back to them? What I've done in the past works, but I know it's not correct. Thx. Bowtie.
the best way to manipulate the pdf would be to directly open this in illustrator assuming it hasn't been flattened. All depends what you need to do in terms of manipulation.

What if you select the direct selection tool (A) then select the text faces?

How do I make the long cylinders instead of the short small ones
From what I can remember you need to change the extrude depth when adding the 3D extrude.
