Another fun video Goomba vs Koopa 2 is my favourite fight this year. This is the best DBX batch with the voting formula. Only Sans vs Ness was truly weak and Naruto vs Ryu just needed a better ending. I wouldn't mind Apocalypse vs Black Adam if they can get creative enough with the former's morphing powers. Palpatine vs Xehanort is short but it looks so pretty and the banter. Short but sweet Zuko vs Roy is somehow the best Avatar fight I really wanted Ami to win...
That was a fantastic review for a great season of DBX. As a fan of DBX, I can safely say that season 6 was the best season by far. When DBX got analysis segments, I was...disappointed. What made DBX unique was that there were no rules meaning that the animators could do...well, whatever they wanted. Unfortunately, it seems that not many people understood the phrase "no rules, only bloodshed" and would proceed to complain how "inaccurate" the outcome was, because apparently things like "no research, just entertainment" were far too sophisticated for those people to understand. It didn't matter if the episode was Cloud vs Guts level of good or Sajura vs Rin Tohsaka level of bad, all those people seemed to care about was whether the outcome was research-wise accurate or not. Then, season 4 came and DBX got analysis segments and the outcome was fan-voted and those things didn't sit right with me. They didn't feel like a creative decision, but rather a response to stupid dump critisism, and that took away a part of DBX's charm. Seriously, in some episodes they would explain for far too long their abilities in what is supposed to be a non-research show and the fact that Ringmaster literally screams "NO RESEARCH!!!" at the start of every episode didn't help a lot. I didn't give up on DBX, in fact season 4 was good, but obviously the hype for each episode just wasn't the same. Then season 6 happened. Season 6 of DBX did the unthinkable; it took a concept that messed with my enjoyment of the show and used it in such a way to make me feel hyped for the next episode. Things like the different co-host per episode, the interactions between Ringmaster and the co-hosts, the continuity among the episodes and even Death Battle (seeing Wiz's cyborg goose return made me happy), the focus more on the characters themselves and less on their abilities, the usage of highly-requested matchups, getting more chances to explore the potential of Death Battle's hosts and the actually good animation in the analysis segments were exactly the kind of things I needed to not only find my old hype for the series, but find it even bigger than before. Even if the animation wasn't the best, the analysis segments would be entertaining enough to make the episode good in my eyes. Add to that the consistently good animation quality, characters acting more like actual characters in the fight animation and a season finale that feels like a love letter to the channel's history (seeing Jocelyn again felt so good) and...need I say more? Season 6 of DBX was awesome and I am hyped for the season 7 of DBX, your review of the Red vs Blue Death Battle and, of course, the second half of season 8 of Death Battle!

When my biggest criticism for the death of my favorite RWBY girl is “it wasn’t violent enough” something is VERY wrong. Also, Blake’s blood was red in the DBX episode but purple in the Death Battle episode…….. hmmmmmm

Ok, now to be nice on these videos for a change, I’ll say my favorite DBX episode was probably Billy vs Sailor Mercury. This is mostly my bias talking since I’m more of a Power Rangers fan than a Sailor Moon, but I don’t care because I actually really liked the fight choreography in this episode. This isn’t a fight a character punches another character the opponent gets launched somewhere immediately after said punch, instead it feels a bit more like classic death battle where a character gets punched and the punch is counter and parried by another punch and that punch is countered and parried by a punch and it’s just visually pleasing to me. Ok I’ll admit that description was incredibly sloppy and terrible but still, while I think Koopa vs Goomba was the best DBX episode overall, Billy vs Sailor Mercury is definitely my favorite.

I’ll probably be called nuts for saying this, but the best of dbx s6 for me is a major tossup between Zuko vs Roy and Goomba vs Koopa 2. They’re both animated really well, they both have climaxes that look just glorious, they both have 2 brutal and amazing deaths and they’re both backed up by some of the best music I’ve heard period. With both of them only having one noticeable flaw, those being zuko’s front view fire flying and the koopa’s inconsistent sprite changing. So, how do I choose? I think it comes down to my personal connection on the characters. Zuko vs Roy may have characters i at least heard of, but I grew up with both Goomba and Koopa and I enjoyed killing them in the Mario games for years. It was a close match. It really was, but it comes as no surprise that Goomba vs Koopa 2 is my favorite episode of dbx season 6. The main surprise that it had a brief competition with Zuko vs Roy. In my opinion anyway.
