Hey man cheers for the video, I moved to Atalanta from the U.K. where these waters and issues don’t really exist so this is hugely appreciated. Should you want to go fishing at some point and have someone tag along get in touch man I’d love to meet other fly guys in this city 👍
Thank you. Very informative. I am a Florida saltwater fly fisherman, and visit the Atlanta GA area periodically throughout the year. I am absorbing local freshwater fly fishing information for the Jones Bridge location, and now understand all of the variables to consider. This video was clear and concise. Thank you for posting. I can now plan a fishing day without the fear of drowning. Catching something would be a bonus!
Love this! I've stuck to mountain streams up north for the majority of my fly fishing shenanigans and have really been wanting to give the bigger (closer) water a go. This is super helpful! Going out with a group at Jones next week and was looking for some visual ideas of what I was getting into, and found this video. Thanks!
Thanks! Haha is that how it's done over there? There's a horn at Buford Dam too, but you can't hear it if you're many miles down river so you gotta know the schedule!
Great video. Here's some of my tips. For Jones Bridge the gage height, feet has to be below 2.0. Even if its falling I still wait till below 2.0. From the Fulton county side park, you should be able to see dry rocks at the head of the island. I hate fishing the Gwinnett side even though I live 5 minutes away. And I now plan on 4 hours for the water to get to JB, "the schedule can change with hydropower demand". Use the dry rocks as a reference. If they are no longer dry then run. Winter is bad because the dam is always generating. Also bad is when Lake Lanier is above full pool. You might get a break on weekends and holidays but best bet is a week with no rain. Also sign up for the trout stocking report. They usually stock on the same day of the week. JB gets a lot of pressure from bank fishing and they always keep. And the best secret fly for JB is
This is great info! Thanks for adding the additional context, especially about the gauge needing to be below 2.0 at JB. hopefully people will see that. ...and I think your comment about the "best secret fly" was cutoff!! or was that on purpose :p ?
Great video, excited to get out and really give the hooch a try this year and your video has everything I need.
You definitely should! It's got a lot to offer. best of luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Great video! Much better than Taney where you wait until the whistle blows and then run like hell.
