    Progress to an advanced level of guitar playing - bulletproofguitarplayer.com Learn more about the Romeo by Eastman Guitars:
    www.eastmanguitars.com/romeo_new
    Today we’re taking a look at a new offering in the market of semi-hollow, thinline electrics. Eastman Guitars are a brand seeking to change the perception of guitars built in the east. When you build guitars using high-grade components like Gotoh hardware, Lollar pickups and Switchcraft electronics, it’s hard to imagine the end result being a poor quality instrument.
    The only place where the guitar could fall short would be in the craftsmanship itself - so how does a brand like Eastman manage to deliver boutique, ‘custom shop’ quality at a sub $2k price point?
    Eastman have a team of luthiers crafting their instruments by hand in their very own workshop. Not a factory - a workshop. One where the workers build Eastman instruments and nothing else.
    Big manufacturers often outsource their production to Asian factories where multiple brands are built under the same roof. Of course, good quality guitars can be and are made everyday in such factories, but sometimes the attention to detail required for building a top-grade guitar is missed out on a production line.
    Romeo is the latest addition to the Eastman Guitars family, and after having played this guitar for a week or so, I can attest to the high quality of craftsmanship on offer from their Beijing workshop.

    In Brazil we do also have some great luthiers. The handcrafeted guitars here are built using brazilian wood, which is usually very expensive out there, cause it's considered exotic or something like that.

      I agree Shawn!! I love Eastmans story too... no CNC... fully hand carved .... factory is virtually quiet cuz there are no machines... building world class violins with tools only available in the time of Stradivarius himself... now building world class guitars with the same luthiers theyve had for decades... what a gift to the world of musicians... an asian company worthy of respect and support ! I now own an Eastman myself and its feel and playability are epic.. not a thing needs upgrading ! It would out perform instruments two to three times what it cost !! One of the best guitars ive played in 30 plus years...

    I was looking for a 335 style guitar two years ago when these first came out and I almost bought one. I wish I had. I ended up with an Eastman T184MX, which is a great guitar as well, but I think the Romeo might be a tad bit sweeter.

    • @jdotte
      @jdotte 2 роки тому

      That’s interesting. I have a T386 and I’m thinking about upgrading it to either a T185 or the romeo. What do you think Romeo might have that you’re 184 doesn’t? Not having played either of them it’s so hard to know which one to choose.

    • @JimmyRadloff
      @JimmyRadloff 2 роки тому

      @@jdotte it's just a little cooler looking guitar. My 184 sounds awesome and I love how light it is, but that Romeo is just a sick looking axe. A Romeo with Loller pickups might sound a little sweeter too.

    • @jdotte
      @jdotte 2 роки тому

      @@JimmyRadloff agreed! I really dig the look of the Romeo. Love the simple controls too. I’ll hopefully report back to you soon! There’s a Lollar Romeo several hours from me I hope to try. The lower output of Imperials sound amazingly versatile. I think I’ll like the smaller, lighter size. Just not sure if I’ll live the 1.72 nut as much as I do the 1.75 of my 386???

  • @JeffAulich

    What’s your thoughts on this vs the D’Angelico? I’m looking for a semi hollow body in the distant future.

    • @RossCampbellGuitarist
      @RossCampbellGuitarist  4 роки тому +1

      Hmm good question.
      I'd say they're both great guitars with different strengths. The D'Angelico has more of a classic semi-hollow, 335-style tone which I prefer. The Eastman to my ears, had more of a focused, less resonant tone. Closer to a solid-body. It also felt like an easier guitar to play due to the thinner neck profile. I'd imagine that you would feel more comfortable on the Eastman since the neck on your Veritas feels relatively thin.
      The Eastman costs more than double what the D'Angelico does, but it feels the way that an expensive guitar should - better hardware, pickups etc. If I was to get one for myself I'd swap the pickups for something a bit hotter.

    • @JeffAulich
      @JeffAulich 4 роки тому

      Ross Campbell thanks dude! Yeah I have those same pickups in my veritas. They are super dark and super “polite”. I can’t wait to swap them out, lol. But cool man! Thanks for the input! Always appreciated!

    Don’t know about resale value but I can’t get hold of any used ones, whereas Gibson 335s etc no problem. My guess is once you have got one of those you really don’t sell it. It’s scarcity (plus they’re probably not made in anywhere near the quantity the big boys do) will probably keep its price up. For this quality a hand built semi, you’d be lucky to get a US equivalent for less than $5-6000. By the way loved the playing, one of the best for this guitar I’ve yet seen.

To be honest the AM153 was every it as good as the Romeo. The 153 design may not be as beautiful. Eyes of the beholder but the sounds, playability and quality of build are on par. AM153 new $999, Romeo $2,499. Thought this might help someone make a decision.

      So you have "read about the millions of imprisoned muslims in western China", but have your ever been to western China to see if it is truth? I have traveled Xinjiang in various ocasions through 2 decades, and I can assure you that the uyghur muslims are just fine and live a much better life than the muslims in Central Asia or Middle East. That's to say, you don't necessarily need to worry about Xinjiang muslims when deciding to buy or not a guitar made by a TOTALLY PRIVATE COMPANY in China. If so, you may also worry about the hundreds of millions of muslims bombarded by the US Air Force, whose country fabricates Gibson and Fender.
