"Obviously this evidence is illegal, but now it has coloured the judge's perspective" aaaand thats called a mistrial. Let's start over with Canadian Judge!
"oh nooooo don't enlist your hot sister ghost to help you haunt me forever if we lose the trial oh no"--Phoenix if he was me
😭
Mia in Pearl's body is cursed😭
Happy pride to Angel and everyone else who looked at the second photo and went "her EYES look different."
When the judge says von Karma will get a penalty, they should bring out a different-coloured health bar that takes damage and then never make any reference to it ever again.
Her eyes AND the fact that the bloodstains appear to be on the inner robe, not the outer robe that was already submitted as evidence!
Oh my gosh the idea of the prosecutors having their own health bar is hilarious 😂
@@poky4669 It would be really funny if that's how you won a case, by flabbergasting the prosecutor into making too many leaps of judgment/errors of judgment. Kinda reminds me how the jury system works in GAA
NGL I busted up when they was like "Her eyes look CRAZY"
@@GogglesVonAwesome Angel uses they/them pronouns, actually!
There’s something really funny about all three Phoenixes saying a sentence that ends in “altogether” all together.
It's Phoenix's fusion...Phoenix!
As a consequence of this case, it's now an objectively-established fact in Japanifornia's legal system that spirit channeling is real, leading to supernatural changes to a human's body as they're possessed by the dead.
You'd think this would have some kind of long-term implications on the setting, or at least on Phoenix's future law career. You'd think.
God I love Steve’s Lotta so much 😂❤ but also I can’t hate her when she’s got lines likes “That’s not fine! That’s a whip!”
Also them saying the phoenix line altogether reminded me of ygo bbt, I love it
"hoowwwwdee hoooooh!"- Lotta
17:48 Angel's reaction to seeing Pearl channel Mia was so hilarious. I forgot how wild that is at first.
As someone from the south, I'd like to say I've never heard someone say reckgiven.
Thank you for testifying to that. I strongly suspected Lotta was bs-ing us about that but it’s good to have a source to support that
Ace Attorney Fun Fact!
The symbol on Ini Miney's sweater is a stylised om - a syllable that is regarded as sacred and mystical in Hinduism and Buddhism, and is used in prayer and meditation.
It is a symbol representing a sacred sound, syllable, mantra, and an invocation in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. Its written representation is the most important symbol of Hinduism. It is the essence of the supreme Absolute, consciousness, Ātman, Brahman, or the cosmic world. In Indic traditions, Om serves as a sonic representation of the divine, a standard of Vedic authority and a central aspect of soteriological doctrines and practices.
@@caiden3396 thank you so much for the additional context of the symbol.
You know, it's a _very_ funny image to picture Franziska sneaking around the corner to take that picture, at that particular angle.
You know, maybe Phoenix should bring a gun to court.
Like...just threaten people whenever court isn't going his way. Apparently that's all legal.
Von Karma's got the upper hand here. Her german technology allows her to take color photographs! Amazing!
it's so mean when they linger the health bar just to make you nervous
Just imagine Maya here: it's the first time she's seen her sister in over a year since her passing, but because court is in session, they can't talk to each other. Maya just sees Mia appear out of the aether through Pearl, just out of reach, fully in Protective Big Sister Lawyer mode to save her. And just when court lets out for the day, Maya goes to the lobby, and Mia's already gone. That's...gotta be one wild emotional rollercoaster.
“They really just let them do whatever” Angel, that is literally the role of the prosecutors from here on out …. Trust us on this
Alright. According to legal precedent, the practices of Kurain Channeling Technique is accepted as the truth in the court of law now. That's great. I do have one counterargument to make though.
If Maya was channeling Mimi and thus taken on her physical form, then what the fuck were her fingerprints doing on the gun? What, her size, face, and figure changed, but her fingerprints of all things stayed the same?
The proper argument to make here, in my opinion, is that Maya is blatantly being framed because fingerprints that should not be there are.
Plus, it's time to make the argument that she did not actually channel Mimi because she had a dream (as valid as the joke our trio made of it was) and because Mimi's fingerprints were not found anywhere.
Lotta brings the perjury count up to 15. Granted, Franziska was behind it, but only Lotta was under oath and willfully concealed the truth.
I live for how much SungWon resents the recurring comic relief characters in Ace Attorney. Larry, Lotta or Oldbag open their big fat mouths and his mood is immediately ruined.
How has no one noticed Mia suddenly appearing in court? Especially after Von Karma showed that photo?
Too polite to bring it up.
"This isn't Mia, this is Mia's cousin, Pearl..."
"Oh ok, that makes sense."
"...who is 8 years old."
"🤨"
@@StevenUlyssesPerhero tbf I think the Judge does at one point ask about Pearl looking different in this game, but Mia says "it's just your imagination"
I'm so glad that my previous comment wanting Phoenix to escort poor Pearly home was in fact answered by him doing that in this one, poor kiddo.
I'm from the south and love Lotta Hart as a character. I can't defend reckon course or reckgiven.
Gotta say I adore Sungwons Franziska
A fifty-minute episode? This will be a blast
Holy shit I didn’t even notice until around 40 minutes in lmao
As much as I love Franziska, she does _not_ catch enough flack for that stunt she pulls with the photo.
The fact she was able to get away with "Oopsie poopsie I'm not _actually_ presenting this illegal photo I purposely showed you, teehee!" is so unfair.
SPOILERS BELOW
Especially when you have poor Phoenix who lost his badge when he unknowingly presented forged evidence.
Yeah, that moment is right up there on my "That's bullshit, c'mon game" scale, along with that point in Turnabout Sisters where Edgeworth was like "I say you can't call the bellboy as a witness, unless you agree to accept a Guilty verdict if nothing he says turns out to be sus." Every time I go through that case, I find myself wishing Phoenix would say "Your Honor, Edgeworth doesn't have the authority to set that condition, does he?"
the losing his badge thing was so dumb. ah well, I still like the game
(more mild AA AJ spoilers)
I think Fran can get away w it because at some point in Apollo Justice, Phoenix ALSO pulls out a piece of 'evidence' without actually ~presenting~ it (and like he isn't a lawyer so it'd be Apollo's responsibility but he didn't get in trouble either)
That said it's definitely v much bullshit, just trying to think about in Ace Attorney Rules which can be Extremely silly
@@StevenUlyssesPerhero honestly it seems like Edgeworth was baiting Phoenix with that, since he said "fool, you fell right into my trap". It's definitely weird that Phoenix never called it out because...yeah that's not legally binding whatsoever
Damn Mia's was really roasting Phoenix, here.
He needed it a little to be honest.
whenever i hear "5.1" my brain just starts playing the sound of all the balls bouncing and the asmr voice that says "a-l-l a-r-o-u-n-d y-o-u-"
This ep left us on a good segue! This ep didn't feel like 51 mins! My theories were (mostly?) incorrect, lol. But I'm curious about how it really happened!
SPOILER maybe?
I still think Ini did it. Maybe there's an UNDERGROUND TUNNEL between the Channeling Room & the Side Room! :0
steve's lotta is carrying this entire playthrough
If this case actually took place in America then the judge would have declared a mistrial as soon as she said the picture was stuck in his mind.
I never understood why Phoenix never argued that since Maya was supposedly in the middle of channeling, she shouldn't be held responsible. Because if spirit channeling was accepted as fact by the court, that should include the fact that someone else's soul is in the medium's body, so it wouldn't be Maya doing the murder.
I think it has to do with how in this setting, accidental killing is pretty much considered just as bad as any other type of killing. So while it would have been the spirit, and not Maya directly, that killed the victim, Maya would still be considered "responsible" because she "allowed" it to happen when the spirit took over her body. (I don't agree with that, but that's what's been established as the social/legal norm in Ace Attorney so far.)
@@CassetteVCR but even then, the charge in that case should be manslaughter, not murder. You said this there is no distinction in the AA universe, but out of curiosity, what cases are you basing that off of?
@@AE86FTSi think it's related to tb goodbyes yanni yogi being socially shunned for an insanity/accidental manslaughter plea
@@tjnymoon Well he wasn't shunned because of that. It's that since he was ruled insane, he had to keep up the facade of having lost his memory. Nothing to do with the plea itself. And even then, socially outcasted or not, that doesn't change the fact that even if the channeled spirit did kill Grey, Maya should be held guilty of murder
@@AE86FTSI was specifically thinking of a moment in Turnabout Goodbyes (you can find it in episode 32 of the first AA game playthrough on this channel, 18 minutes and 56 seconds in) where Grossberg says, "Even accidental murder is murder," referring to how, if Miles Edgeworth had killed his own father by throwing the gun to him, Miles would be considered guilty of murder, even though killing his father had not been his intent. And that's why you have to prove that Miles throwing the gun is NOT what killed Gregory Edgeworth, rather than insisting that Miles is innocent because the gun going off when he threw it was an accident. But Maya's situation IS somewhat different than that, so I can't say for certain that the same logic would still apply.
it is so funny to hear them complaining about Lotta in this trial when we get to go to the circus for the next trial. Poor Angel has no idea how bad it's going to get
The Brady rule isn't a thing in Japanifornia apparently.
The legal system in phoenix wright games is objectively insane.
As far as I can tell, there IS no discovery phase in Ace Attorney trials. (Unless you count what the defense team “discovers” on their own after somehow gaining access to the crime scene.)
@@Keyanna64 probably because iirc discovery isn't a thing in Japanese law (or at least wasn't when this game was first made)
