Brah, just getting back into spear fishing after a couple decades of hiatus. Your channel is just what I was looking for. I got an Evolve 8’ three prong and been getting back in the water. Thank you for putting out these videos! Mahalo braddah, ova hea on da Big Island, Hilo side.
Good beginner pole spear for people in Hawaii. The only thing you could reliably harvest in Florida with that is lionfish and some sheepshead. I’d recommend a slip tip or at least a beefier three-prong for east coast guys
I'm new to spearing. I have looked over the DLNR website and other sources. I know the regulated fish that are able to be taken. I see a lot of different fish that aren't listed there. Can you maybe show some fish that are good to eat, but aren't listed there? Thanks bro!
Bro your videos are so sickkkk! Always check in to watch um before crashing.just got into the sport,my question is,is there anything I can do to give my polespear some more power? I got a 8ft one I got from JHara on big island.hit plenty of fish but I see it not go all the way through so they wiggle off.i load um all the way and even sharpend prongs more.mahola! Keep it up brotha!
Make sure you are rotating the band as you are loading it. This gives you a more accurate shot as well as extra power because you're utilizing the most of the band! Hope this helps! Mahalo for the support 🤙🏽
@@FishandDiveHawaii Thanks for tge reply! I have been rotating it though probably 3 times till I reach the front fully loaded...maybe thats to much? I was thinking maybe different kind of band? Thicker or stiffer? I might also just be outside range.trying to work alot on bottom time so im dive bombing and taking longer shots.
Hey Justin, love your clips. I have that exact spear but I prefer using a gun. I find it easier for a beginner. One quesfion. When shooting with a gun do you aim with one eye closed? That’s how I’ve been shooting and I’ve been successful but I want to learn the right way.
Love this channel and Would like to Begin Spearfishing But What if you have no one to go with? Can you go by yourself if you swim less than 15 to 20 feet closure to shore?
If u were to do this I would recommend slowly going farther and farther out each time increasing your confidence lvl. I would not recommend doing it anywhere there is strong current and if u can’t have someone go with u it’s nice to at least have someone watch from shore
Hey brotha quick question..I’m Spearfishing on the island, I noticed a lot of really big eels and I don’t know if they are aggressive or if I should be worried about poking my head into caves with them around. Any experiences with eels or do you not worry about them?? Shoots 🤙🏼

How about dive gloves? Which do you recommend?
Neoprene work/garden gloves work good plus they're cheap. Otherwise Hatch/Hammerhead/etc sells high quality gloves as well.

You can dive alone bro, but it's not advised in case of an emergency but as long as you stick to your limits you'll be fine

I don't worry about eels to much. But they can be dangerous! Best advice is to steer clear and not bother them. Aloha!
