EDITORS NOTE - The video incorrectly states that tile sealer must be used. You do not need to use tile sealer on porcelain tile.

My Lowe's tile guy provided a grout sealer to be mixed with the grout before applying. Yes, I have porcelain tile.

This is the correct way to install . Prep is not over kill this is the way and the correct way to have a long lasting tile job . This is how my company been doing it for 18 years and still going strong no call back perfect installation . Great video. Do it this way you'll never have grout cracking loose tiles . And installing this type of floor always grout seal the tile before grouting let it dry then grout clean then seal your grout .
What if you are installing over a concrete subfloor? And why not just seal the tile and the grout all at the same time?
Concrete subfloors don't require an underlayment. they have "crack isolation" products for settling slabs, in which case you can use a membrane or a mesh tape. I've always sealed the tile after everything is grouted, but with more times than not that wood plank has a texture to it which makes it a bit more tasking to clean during the grout process.
sealed grout still gets dirty. can"t acid clean after sealed
Lord bless me with the resources to buy and pay someone else to install my new floor😌

i'm researching tile installation as i'm getting ready to install the same size tile in one of my bedrooms. this video is great in that it offers a very thorough overview of the work to be done. that said, there's more to it than what this video covers, but again this is an awesome overview of the work to be done. in my research the most important thing is the prep work. my house is a bit of a "proving ground" for me. i do all my "firsts" on my house and learn from trial and error before i work on someone else's house. i'm very excited about this project. that DITRA in the video is a must in my opinion. its something you never see people doing. they just tile straight to the concrete floor. nope - not me. i want to get it right. i'm definitely using the the DITRA for my project.
I don't know why I'm watching this, I'm only 8... but the production of these videos are exceptional! Makes it fascinating and enjoyable. Liked!

I don’t know... you seem like you have a 12 year old’s grammar?
i know right... exceptional? and he apparently cares about 'production'
Trust me, this guy is definitely 8. I would know - I went to school with him. I am 8, too.

Thank you! This video convinced me NOT to do this type of installation. It's more than I can handle.
For real lol!!
Omg! You dumbest, you can get a professional and it will look beautiful and last for decades.
Back in my days we would get a tree trunk and stick it to the floor with our earwax
Beautiful and informative. Thank you
Doing my living room and dining room starting tomorrow. 400 square feet. It's very hard work and I totally understand why the labor costs so much money
How did it turn out? Worth the work? I am thinking of doing my covered patio with some wood looking tile.
socialdef3 it’s very hard work. I’ve tiled a small bathroom w mosaic tiles which were tricky but the large tiles are very heavy and even the mortar gets heavy digging it out bucket. Very physically taxing and I had help doing 80 square foot.
3 years later and still not finished.
Well I’ll be using this video to help guide me in this diy floor project!
step 12: pay someone to do it
Ryan R. Burns exactly the risk of messing this up would be very high
I agree. Hire.

Great video.
hairspray on the caulkline is boss lvl tip 😂😂
I've snapped about 20 miles of lines in 30 years in construction...If you're moving around so much that you wipe your lines, you need red chalk or need to know when to put down the chalk...
Caulk lines haha
You mean chalk lines bruh
this is worth learning about
What is the name of the particular tile used in this video? Love that color.
Yeah I wont be doing all this.
Got that right, I thought it installed the same as square ceramic tile. I definitely will not be doing this.

I think you forgot one very important recommendation when taking off old flooring. Especially vinyl flooring it might be a good idea to cover your face with the proper breathing apparatus due to asbestos
Awesome! Thanks For share.
I learned I will be contracting this out to a professional.
That counts, TitanBassMan. Be sure to check out lowes.com/install for help getting the job done.

A wonderful video
Excellent!
Did this through my whole first floor. Worked very similarly, but I used concrete backerboard instead of the thinner membrane. However, I had a terrible time with streaking in the grout. Turns out hand-mixing the grout maintains a much more uniform color.

How much does tiling a ?? bathroom 7X9 ft cost
@@stephaniewiggins9316 An arm & a leg.
Amazing color ! What is the name of the particular tile used in this video?
I’ve done two tile jobs, one Saltillo through living room, entry hall and guest bath. Did one porcelain square tiles living room, hallway, and bath. I did a shower on my previous home. This is the first for rectangular tile. I’m just getting an idea of how to start. I did a couple laminate wood floors in the bedrooms but forgot to stagger. They’re small rooms so they don’t look bad.
What is best material that won't pop up or break
Thanks
I still use this underlayment on concrete every chance I get. It is a crack isolation membrane and allows for the concrete to equalize its moisture with in its self. They surprised me on getting this video pretty acutely. When setting tile it’s 1/4” back and forth movement to lay over the notches and expel the air. And to water proof a room you also tape up onto the walls. I stay away from the silicone idea and leave it blank. Silicone is only good for 7 years and if it hardens it would be the same as hard packing.
I worked with floor guys for like 4 years. And all we do is use the thin set, to level out. Then just Mortar, tile the grout. Then finished. You do let have to use all this. But it helps longevity past like 6-8 years.
Nanocean 13 english?
Vic da G I guess you don't understand the terminology, what I'm trying to say is.
You don't need to do any of this. Just get your floor down to concrete. And use mortar. Then grout.
I remodel houses for a living. All those things are a waste of money
I understand you, but in NY where it can gget quite cold Oct - March, something like DRIcore OSB is necessary to raise the floor temperature about 5degrees C. www.lowes.com/pd/DRIcore-7-8-x-2-x-2-OSB-Sheathing/3603370?cm_mmc=SCE_PLA-_-LumberAndBuildingMaterials-_-Osb-_-3603370:DRIcore&CAWELAID=&kpid=3603370&CAGPSPN=pla&store_code=1624&k_clickID=72fe4f55-04cd-43c7-aeab-b7b469cd595f&gclid=CjwKCAjw6ZLOBRALEiwAxzyCWw1Ar-MYhtkCEyWa0HvzYkBC97Ye4r5pTIe597e8osVTVOYDDOEBGRoCwg0QAvD_BwE They didn't use it here, but I intend to keep using.
I never realized its that easy .
what about installing on slab foundation? Do you have videos for that?
Sooo.... hire someone to do it for you. Got it! Thanks.
Holy cow. I wish I could do that.
I have a question I am about to use high end vinyl floor planking on a concrete slab the room is like couple feet below grade. Now existing are 9x9 anyway some are missing what would be best way to even floor.
What is the brand and color of the tile used in the video?
How/where do you start laying the tiles? How about the second row? Is there a minimum width of a tile at the end? They just kind of glanced over that info.
repin the dewalt rockwell...one of the greatest tool ever
I really learned more from you good job indeed.I want to know that Metal you used on the doorway I need a name
Do you recommend this floor type for a bedroom?
Seems Easy enough.. lol Let's get started
good
its ok to put metal balustrade post direct to this type tile? it wort crack?
Nice
Why am i watching this @ 12:42 a.m?? lol
what is available to repair grout where it is coming loose from the seams between the tile planks
Thanks for the video. If you have a concrete floor do you still need to put down the membrane/plastic sheet?
No you can apply thin set directly to the floor
@@benjaminlyons5261 Many thanks for the reply.
Are there any pros and cons on using the membrane when installing this flooring directly on concrete? Also, if installing the flooring prior to any baseboards being installed, do you still leave 1/4" gap along the walls for expansion w/o the membrane?
Allen Jones u still need the spacing.
No matter what you’ll need a expansion gap for the title so it never buckle due to weather causing the house to expand and shrink but if your titling concrete you usually don’t need that as concrete already has moisture in it so there’s no point. that’s why you use a pre treated sill plates for framing
What's the thinnest grout line that can be used with these tiles?
Did my whole house easy project 👍 just need a 2nd person
What is the actual model/color tile in this video?
I will buy the same as advertised 🙏
Im super glad theres no diy in title... because nobody in their right mind would do this.
Super
I like the tile in the video a lot, what brand/shade is it?
If you’re installing on top of a cement foundation, do you need all of those layers such as underlayment and wood?
No
It's that easy guys lol!
I have this tile at my house 😎
balderoine was this tile expensive??
How to stagger the tile? How do I start it and the pattern?
Can anyone link to the actual tile used in this video?
Good company Betty professionals
and no trees had to die for that floor, 10/10 would install in my kitchen again
question: how do you call this new way of method tiling the floor? because in our country we still used the old fashioned way like manually putting cement underneath the tiles.
nobert garcia this is pretty much the standard tile floor installation - maybe the uncoupling membrane is throwing you off? You'll find step by step project details here: low.es/1PzNbJA. Thanks for watching.
How long it takes all this process
Could this be installed on stairs?
Step 1: Become a certified tile installer
first you’re gonna wanna use a high quality liquid magma and place it in perfect 27.5 degree angles spacing each line out 5.7 centimeters from each other and then youre gonna wanna find an elderly woman named Deborah and lay her knitted baby quilts along the surface
Oh please no maths for my fragile brain cells. That's why I'm a cartoon artist 😂😂😂
Lo Chalchaleros
Can you please share a website link for this exact tile.
Anything?
There is no tiler in the world that goes through these steps. Guaranteed the just eye everything.
Can someone tell me what tile and color was used in this install!?!?
Can you tell me the color and make of tile used in this video?
We used Style Selections Wood Natural floor tile; you can find it on Lowes.com here: low.es/2bM0cRQ or by searching item #576702. Thanks for watching.
Is there a short cut?
What’s the name of the tile used in the video
What color grout is that ?
Help What is the orange layer mat. A few years ago Lowes just removed the laminate to concrete slab and thin set the tile to slab. Now is the orange layer mat required or is it necessary. Seems to be a lot of extra work..
Extra shit you don't need lol
what off set did you use in the installation of this tile? I've been reading on this, and every thing says to use a 1/3 off set? but in this video is not really in any kind of set pattern.
Hi, Albert. Manufacturer recommends 33% offset maximum for this type of tile. Might be tough to see in the video but that's what we used. Thanks for watching.
Lowe's don't lie that was all random
Is all this needed for concrete subfloor?
Nope, skip 80% of it.
I will learn how to do this in 10 years.
I tiled my kitchen in my last house, but didn’t tile under the dishwasher or stove. It looked fine. I did tile under the fridge because it gets moved regularly. Why do you tile under the appliances. I also applied the tile straight to the slab. No issues with cracking. If I am applying straight to the slab, why do I need layers of other materials? I’m probably doing the floors in the house we’re building, so, I need to know the why for these things. I want to do it right.
So if the tiles are staggered how do i start in the middle?
The only thing this video showed me is that I shouldn't complain nor question why someone charges me whatever they charge me whatever number they say. They deserve their fair pay.
I have a test tomorrow
"Replace everything in your kitchen"
I just wanted to change out my tiles....
Do you take the cabinets out?
Zulik Kowalski always
How much beer will i need to convince my friends to help me do this? lol Can i use these tiles for a whole floor and if so would you use the backer board in areas outside of the kitchen or just use the waterproof throughout?
Now this video convince not for DIY but hire professional
Could you install over the original tile?
You can, but you need to make sure it's in good, solid shape. Here's more info on prepping for tile: www.lowes.com/projects/bed-and-bath/prep-tile-floor/project
