Omg I would love to have that original tile in my bathroom. I love it better than the new. I'm thinking about doing retro floor tiles in my bathroom.
Very helpful video. Thanks!

The bathroom was beautiful before you even started. I would love a bathroom like that.
Thinset Removal Bit on Amazon makes demo easy

I fell asleep during this video lool
So sad... the original tile was classic and beautiful.
Yes I love the original tiles too
That was very clean original tile. I can promise you the new tile will not last neatly half as long. what a shame.
Unless you have access to the plumbing from underneath, this tile job is a waste of time. That bathroom is at least from the 1950's based on the color of the tile and fixtures. 98% of the bathrooms i have ripped out that were that old had lead drain lines and or galvanized water lines. They should all be changed out, or you run the risk of ripping up a new floor when they leak down the road. To do that, the tile and wetbed all need to be removed.
why am i watching this?
don't use yellow stuff just design to spend more money
Did you mean the Schluter-DITRA tile membrane? If so, we're going to respectfully disagree. The membrane allows for expansion under the tile and protects the subfloor - always a worthwhile step when you're dealing with a wet environment. Thanks for watching.
That's my thinking. It only serves to raise the height of the floor so that it won't be level with the next room.
NEVER EVER DESTROY A 50's STYLE BATHROOM!!!!!! But if you really must renovate PLEAS PLEASE remove everything with care, so nothing gets broken and give it to or sell it to someone who is doing a retro renovation!!!!!!!!
Brue Dragon .

Sharon Ide What does vacuums have to do with I was talking about?
Why use new technology in a house that had old technology that already worked that Orange Kerdi roll is pricy and unnecessary in my opinion if the original tile hasn’t cracked the new one won’t
Use a rotary hammer to remove the tile. No way would I do this by hand

I successfully installed tile over tile. To remove existing well laid tile is may be unnessary.
A tutorial on how to destroy an awesome vintage bathroom in perfectly good shape. Why have personality or character or even anything INTERESTING in your home, when you can turn it into generic, hgtv-d colorless pablum crap.
To each their own, Krishna Stacey :)
Because, Krishna, there are lots of really shitty looking bathrooms with lots of 'character' out there. Until you've had to live with a salmon-pink nightmare of a bathroom, you haven't lived!
Krishna Stacey That bathroom may have character but it's hideous. I have a 1960 bathroom and it has pink wall and shower tiles. Guess what. Is getting painted white.
Totally agree, It looked great before.
