Shame Piet Schrijver didnt play in the finale. He looked verg strong as a goalie, and Jongbloed didnt in the finale.
Is that so? To me Schrijvers always looked slightly overweight.
The Dutch shouldn't have lost their second final, though. Fantastic team in the 70s.

Holanda fue el mejor equipo de los 70 y q tuvo al mejor fútbolista de la década por lejos, debió ganar este mundial del 78 al igual q en Alemania 74, fue muy superior a los locales durante ambos campeonatos, a los q la Localia los ayudó bastante .
Holanda clasifico en los grupos por diferencia de gol en el 78. Despues mejoro el juego, pero tampoco era la aplanadora del 74 y en la final ganó bien argentina.
Always had great players the Dutch . A great team to watch . Always liked the Netherlands team .
Peculiar game really. Austria were great in their first two matches; ok and great in their final two but just stopped playing in this one.

The way Holland destroyed Italy and Austria was incredible. The old second stage league in 1978 and 82 saw some amazing matches. Only Germany faced up to Holland well, but they lost to Austria.
In 2010 also, Holland played very well throughout but lost to Spain with a late goal. Unlucky really.
That game was a turnaround. First round wasn't good, resulting in a narrow escape against Scotland. A couple of personal changes were made in the second round and paid off well in this match and lead to the final and the bar prevented victory.
Seen this one live on our brand new colour telly. Auch, I’m old.

Holanda del 74 quizas para muchos fue la mejor ,pero esta holanda del 78 marco TREMENDO GOLAZOS.
Too bad Cruijff en Van Hanegem (2 best players) refused to go to this World Cup because of dictatorship in Argentina. With them I think we would have become World Champion!
It was not because of dictatorship in Argentina:
Van Hanergem refused to go after Ernst Happel the manager, refused to guarantee him a spot in the first 11 players' line up.
Cruyff revealed years later that because of a kidnapping attempt on his family in Spain, he wanted to stay with his family.
In case of Cruyff, the Dutch FA could easily have provided him the choice to travel to Argentina with his family and ask the Argentine Gov extra security protection.
