🌞🌻ABOUT THE CHANNEL🌻🌞
Bored of the usual vanilla, ‘Pollyanna-esque’ allotment/gardening vlog formats that saturate UA-cam, we decided to start our own, unique channel in 2023. Follow the adventures of our family as we navigate life on two allotment plots based in Devon in the UK. The Allotment Family Diary offers a light-hearted, realistic and informative look at the daily running of two large allotment plots. Chocked with dry-wit and lovingly edited, we film hours of footage each month to bring you weekly episodes that document life at our allotment plots, and sometimes outside of them.
🌷🌻ABOUT THE ALLOTMENT FAMILY🌻🌷
Tilly and Nick have maintained their plot for almost ten years now, and Tom (their son), Han (Tom's wife), and Flo (Tom and Han's daughter) acquired theirs in May 2023, with a plot extension in Feb 2024. Look forward to seeing Alfie (an elderly lurcher) and Tor (a young Romanian rescue dog) joining us in our diaries, as well as our 6 chickens (new additions to the Allotment Family), and various stray cats and other wildlife that call the allotment their home.

Love to see Tilly’s plot. Looking forward to the winter projects.
Tysm for watching ☺️
Loverly plot, thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it and thnx for watching ☺️
a lovely tour ther and the plot is looking very well kept even in autum
Tysm ☺️
Fabulous plot, it looks so welcoming with little plants in every nook and cranny 😊
Thankyou so much, I’m a bit more wild and woolly than Tom!!!❤ Tilly
I'm with you there Tilly, nothing better than hot coffee, frosty plot and a good book.
Yes, 100% agree there! Ty for watching ☺️
I love my kindle and sometimes take it up with me! Tilly❤
I call cape gooseberries, ground cherries. We eat them after they drop off. They are very prolific, it's one of my husband's favourite treats. I am also busy tidying up for winter, it gets pretty cold here in Sask. So I just have a winter break, and dream about next year. Your plot is great, plus your hair is so cute like that.
Thankyou for your kind comments. It is absolutely pouring down with rain just now and really high winds. Hopefully will clear a bit so we can sort our plots before the real dark nights set in. It is so lovely to hear from you. ❤Tilly
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
@@elizabethfarrell23 Thankyou so much for your thumbs up. We do appreciate it. Tilly🐱
Good to see you Tilley and wow a tshirt 😮 it’s too cold here now 😂. Great water thingy majig 😅. Lots of amazing harvest and still so much to come. Yes I grew horseradish in a bed once and only once and then it took me 3 years to get rid of it 🤦♀️. Lovely update I hope it’s still as sunny as this video, Ali ☔️🌞🇨🇦
Thankyou. I’ve just read up that I can harvest the horseradish at the end of October/November. It’s quite chilly today so no more T Shirts!!! Tilly ❤
to freeze your apples Tilly peel and slice into salted water drain do not rinse pat dry and bag up they will not taste salty and will stay nice and white i am 77 years old and been doing this for years love the family and vlogs very best wishes from Judy xx
Thankyou, I will try that as I usually put lemon juice over the peeled apples but still get some ‘browning’, especially if I cook the fruit before I freeze. Thankyou so much for your tip.❤ Tilly
Lovely video and informative. So much great produce. I only grow in my back garden, so less space. Quick question. Have you checked if those pallets are chemical free? As I’ve heard others mention not to use blue pallets.
Tysm for watching! Yes, Any blue pallet marked with MB should be avoided as they contain Methyl Bromide which is highly toxic. Ours have all been checked and do not have the marking ☺️
Spectacular looking plot you have there Tilly. I have not heard of a thornless blackberry before. How do they taste?? Brilliant content as always. Cannot wait until the next one 🥰
Much like regular blackberries but without the danger of thorns! Ty for watching ☺️
Someone on our site has one and recommended it to me. I’ll try and find the variety. It fruits with huge sweet blackberries . The bush is about 4 years old now. Thank you so much for your comment. Tilly ❤
Thanks for sharing your garden with us. You have alot of great things growing in your garden. Happy gardening
Tysm for watching ☺️
I see you’re growing beans for drying. I have black turtle beans which are starting to dry on the plants but the pods have some mould starting, probably because the weather has been so wet. Do you know if they’ll be okay to store after shelling if the pods had mould on them? Love seeing your chickens, they are such characters!
If the beans inside the pods look a bit iffy I wouldn’t use them. Mine are the same so not sure if they will be very successful this year. I think the rain has caught them unawares again!
Thankyou for your comment,❤ Tilly
Haha give your chicken your beetroot peelings after cooking them. Chicken’s love it and it looks like there wearing lipstick 😂😂😂
Tilly and I laughed reading this comment, and are totally going to try this! The ladies will look fantastic with beet beaks! Tysm for watching ☺️
Your corn looks great! Mine didn't do so well but hope it's better next year. Love the bird bath water. My bees like to drink from things like that. I know the wind was a bother, I enjoyed the naturalness of it. Truly enjoyed the video. Chicken drama is the best drama! What are the dimensions of Tilly's plot? There is so much going on!
Yes! We love chicken antics and will certainly do more in the future. Sorry to hear about your corn, here’s hoping for a better harvest next year. Glad you enjoyed the natural sounds, and ty for watching ☺️
I will check with Tilly about the dimensions of her plot also and reply later.
Request please a chicken video feeding collecting eggs cleaning coop ect I have 6 ooo and breed names please as always happy gardening Richardx
We will certainly do a chicken video in the future, and Ty for suggesting this. In the meantime do check out this vlog when we first got the hens and we tell their names and breeds: ua-cam.com/video/7hd_TkYjuWA/v-deo.htmlsi=JN7h33Uvkozt9GDA Tysm for watching ☺️
@@AllotmentFamilyDiary your run looks a bit like mine but I have a small shed thank you for link I got permission in 2022 to keep chickens and researched spoke to lots of farmers, vets and owners best book was hynes manual of chicken keeping as always happy gardening Richardx
Yes of course. We are getting the coup and run ready for winter soon so will do a vlog at the same time. Thankyou for commenting, I really appreciate it. Tilly ❤

Hi i don't know if you No but I was watching a Another allotment Blogger And they have chickens on their plot too and she was saying from the 1st of October you now have to register them
Yes, ty for the advice! Ours are all registered but certainly good to make others aware just in case. Ty for watching ☺️
