I called Kwikset 3 times and got no help... was told to call a handyman or have someone break the lock off and buy another one.... frustrating! Even though this is not the same lock that I have it is very similar in this video help me to do what I needed to do in order to get the lock fixed. My handle was loose and I simply needed to tighten it ....as a woman we might not know a whole lot but we can be taught very easily (-; I am very appreciative of this video thanks a lot for posting(-:

I have the same handle and wondering how to drill the hole for the screw holding the bottom of the handle, just eyeballing it?
Charlie Charlie Charlie Charlie the hole for the bottom screw should be 3/8”. It should be located 8 1/2” down. This is the typical Center to Center measurement for handle sets. Double check by measuring your handle set first. Also, when drilling the hole, Mark each side and drill from each side meeting halfway. This will help keep it straight and clean. Hopefully that helps 👍

Charlie Charlie Charlie Charlie understandable. Did it not come with a template? They are a life saver when it comes to saving you from measuring!
Every video I have found are replacing pre handlesets. Trying to find a video on how to line up the bottom drill hole through the door to line up center with the door knob itself
Blueberry Mustard the offset for both the bottom hole and the door knob should be the same distance. Making sure you measure twice before you start drilling.
you may want to consider replacing the door too!
James Hochstetler it actually has been replaced now. Thought it was a good teaching moment with an old cracked door 👍
my 5 yr old entry set broke, the inside handle broke off. Tried to get a replacement from Gatehouse but there is no contact number , and they don’t answer emails .. So my next one will be weiser . What I am interested in is the distance from the large hole and the small hole below it.... is this distance predetermined, by all manufacturers... I hope I don’t have to by a Gatehouse lock set again , just because the holes will not line up for other brands...
RICK J sorry to hear about that. I can only speak to the ones I have dealt with. But they have all been an 8 1/2” distance between the handle and base, Center to Center. I would like to think that all manufacturers would follow the same sort of dimensioning or else they wouldn’t sell much of their product. I would certainly recommend Weiser. I’ve never had problems with them or their customer service. Good luck with it and thanks for watching!!
