    • Firewire Sweet Potato ...
It Just arrived at the shop, the Firewire Sweet Potato in all sizes! Perfect for junk days, this board is the ultimate solution for those who want to catch more waves and have more fun. Don't get frustrated because your friends are getting all the waves, get the Sweet Potato and have fun again.
The new and improved Sweet Potato from Firewire and Dan Mann is the result of years of shaping experience and innovation. Dan Mann, a master shaper, has updated his popular Sweet Potato model with a new swallowtail and refined bottom contours to make the board even more responsive and user-friendly, without sacrificing any of its speed while paddling and flying down the line.
The new Sweet Potato comes stock with five fin boxes, providing the option to ride it just about any way you please-as a thruster, twin, quad, and even quad+nubster. Built for weak to average waves in the one- to four-foot (face) range, the Sweet Potato comes in Firewire's patented Helium construction, which is ultra-light and fast, but without sacrificing speed, strength, or durability. The semi-stepped deck provides increased volume while still keeping the rails thin for responsive maneuverability, while the full volume in the nose allows you to ride a super short board without sacrificing speed on even the fattest of sections.
As winter peters out and we look forward to the long lulls between summer south swells, the new, updated Sweet Potato is the obvious answer.
Stop thinking of “groveling” as a bad word, and instead prepare to have fun no matter what the conditions look like. And the best part? We have all sizes in stock NOW! Don't miss out, come in and grab your new Sweet Potato today!"

@@hawaiiansouthshore, thanks for the quick reply David! What fins do you guys recommend? I tried it as 2+1 today and it didn't have any drive. I've been using the AM2 techflex in quad setup and that works well, but still looking for a quad setup that's a bit more speed generating, or alternatively a good thruster setup. Would love to hear your thoughts!

About how much does the 5’6 sweet potato weigh?

      Hmm, that's a great question!
This is actually the first time someone has asked us about the weight.
I'm curious and interested in learning what you're board brand and model you're currently riding. Also the construction and the weight

@@hawaiiansouthshore yeah it’s typically not a question I’d ask but I have the 5’6 sweet potato in helium and unfortunately had to repair a ding recently on the rail. I was paranoid that it felt a bit heavier than when I bought it so just wanted to compare its weight to what it is new. After the repair my board weighed in at about 6.5lbs.

      @@devinchaganis8017
Sorry I don't have a scale to weigh it, but the fins and deck pad make the surfboard a bit heavier.
When you ding an EPS board, you need to dry it out.
In the past, a former Hawaii rep for Firewire told us to put the damaged part of the surfboard facing down in the car, and place a paper towel underneath it. Then we close the windows and let it sit for a few hours. The paper towel helps us see if any water comes out, and it absorbs the water so it doesn't get into the car's carpet.
After the surfboard is completely dry, repair it.
It's not good to leave saltwater inside the foam because it can make the surfboard weak from the inside. If that happens, the layers of the surfboard can come apart or "delaminate.

@@hawaiiansouthshore I appreciate the response. Board is definitely still really light for its size but there was just that bit of paranoia after getting a new board haha.
