This is my first time on the channel, I'm 53 and was wondering if I'm too old for this opportunity, I don't believe I am but I know the kind of world we live in
Welcome to the channel, Sandi! It's never too late. Honestly, a lot of times these apprenticeship programs and bootcamps are full with experienced professionals who are making a career change... One of my friends made the pivot into tech after being a teacher for years, you check out his interview here: ua-cam.com/video/2LYGOLrnMMI/v-deo.html
I have almost zero experience, but a BSc in a hard engineering. I can’t imagine having to compete against those with BsCS or bootcamp skills pre-applying to this apprenticeship. Thank you, nonetheless!
I'm sure it can be intimidating, but if you have coding knowledge, throw your name in the hat... you never know what can happen. Here are a few other programs that don't require you to have previous work experience: ua-cam.com/video/-KtjpId143Y/v-deo.html
I signed up for "Techtonica", and I am now waiting for an email from them. But the home depot and the SmoothStack programs are not even allowing me to continue with the application.😒
Did you hear back from Techtonica? Let me know how it pans out. Yeah most of these positions are old. Here is a NY-based opportunity with Spotify you may want to check out: fellowship.spotify.com/ These are old positions, but I'll keep posting about new ones. Also Im starting a newsletter this summer, put your name/email in the link below and I'll be sure to send you similar opportunities on a regular basis i5218d4ud3u.typeform.com/to/HWyu5Zgx
@@cuSTEMJourneys Oh wow!!! Thank you for for sharing another opportunity. I ended up forgetting about them so I have to go check my email but I don’t think they sent anything 😢
HI! I signed up for the newsletter! Thank you again for the information about the Spotify fellowship. I applied today before the due date thank God and I almost forgot about it. Also, I almost did not submit my application because they were already asking for skills I do not have at all, unfortunately. And I have been rejected before by similar programs just because they wanted someone who was already in the field "they said"😒. But I completed the application anyway to see. So I am hoping at least.😓

@@cuSTEMJourneys Hi dear, I want to thank you first for sharing the newsletter email with me. I was so delighted when I saw the newsletter email that I ended up applying for the "Accenture Entry Level Tech Apprenticeship Program" that was on the job list. Unfortunately, but not to my surprise my application has already been rejected. I am honestly getting sick and tired at this point because they're claiming false advertisements with their apprenticeship program. They claim experience does not matter to be accepted yet they will still reject. I am getting to a point where I will stop applying for any of these types of jobs or apprenticeship programs. No matter how positive one can be, that doesn't change the reality of them rejecting people for fun. They want the "PERFECT CANDIDATE" and will not stop rejecting until they get that "perfect inexperienced yet "HIGHLY QUALIFIED experienced" candidate. UA-cam even recommended a video here in which they were explaining why they're making it so difficult for applicants. SIGH!!!!! 😒
Okay supporting low income women too nice think I'm going to sign up 😁😁😁 Should we learn coding first before signing up though? So we don't look too stupid
I think it helps show that you are serious about learning the material BUT don't let "not knowing how to code" stop you from applying. These apprenticeship programs are specifically for people who aren't already in tech or didn't go to college for it
I don't know if these specific opportunities offer sponsorships. If I'm not mistaken, the Home Depot role will ask if you require sponsorship... I get the sponsorship question a lot, so I'll work on creating a video for non-US citizens in the future
