I just turned 29 and I feel like I'm so late to learn anything, graduated with a bachelors with a minor and n associates degree. I've been looking for opportunities like this. Trying to turn my life around and be happy with what I do for once. A friend of mine is a QA engineer and was once in my position. I'm located around Chicago land area. I just don't know where to start with no experience, and who will offer a great opportunity like this in 2023
I know how you feel man. Just focus on what you can control moving forward. I've meet so many people who made pivots in their 40's so or later, so you can definitely do it. Discovery Partners Institute (DPI) is based in IL and does some similar tech development programs. Check them out here: dpi.uillinois.edu/ Here's an example of a teacher who made the switch from teacher to scrum master after not having any previous experience in tech: ua-cam.com/video/2LYGOLrnMMI/v-deo.html
Hey Awotile, this specific program is ran by cccareers.org - I think they only work with people based in the US. I'm not familiar with apprenticeship programs outside of the US, but you may have luck by doing a Google search for "Tech Apprenticeship programs" + your country - apprenticeship programs are sometimes offered by big tech companies or non-profit organizations
I don't know of any at the moment. Every once in while, check out the link below: www.apprenticeship.gov/finder/listings You can find apprenticeships on there
This particular apprenticeship program can be found at cccareers.org Microsoft, Pinterest, Airbnbn and others offer similiar programs but you gotta do some digging to find them. Check out the link below for 7 other tech apprenticeship programs: www.bestcolleges.com/bootcamps/guides/companies-offer-tech-apprenticeship-programs/
This particular apprenticeship program is primarily based in San Diego, but I think they are planning to expand in the future. I dropped an interview recently that spotlights a different apprenticeship program that has done remote roles
I'm not sure on the specifics of this program - I would recommend reaching out to Mike Roberts at cccareers.org My guess is that it will depend on the client/employer that you get placed at after the program ends.
Yes but only in certain US cities. You can find the list of cities here: cccareers.org/faq/ Also, I just posted a video of a remote Tech Apprenticeship from AirBnB.
