Thank you, Grandfather Wally. I agree 100% about the responsibility of the elders to teach. That is not just the Dine, but all humans. Sadly, the wisdom of the elders is all too often scorned. What a terrible fate. I see everyday the twisting of words by certain persons in positions of power and influence. And so today, we have our lives controlled by greed and associated lies. Blessings be yours and all the Dine.

But there is also the flipside: A society that lets their elders deteriorate, thus you cannot trust all elders of such a society to be wise teachers.
Especially an intellectually decaying society might experience a crisis there in the near future, when a completely mentally screwed generation comes into either entrenched positions of power and/or is relied on for guidance. The US culture in its imperial decline phase is a prime driver of this, and countries like Germany are severely affected.

That's because truth is boring...lies are more entertaining...and sadly a lot of people are not teaching their children the tools in life and how to be happy...people complain about their lives but they insist to be miserable 😔. It's a very sad thing.
Fortunately, I try to be a light worker and as my experience there are people who rather resist help. I stumbled on this channel by accident. But I was told we're did have Indian ancestry in our Smith line. So, I've always been interested in learning, and the teachings of the universe and mother Earth is all me. Yes, since learning to meditate and learning new ways I have been able to improve life.

Some of my first memories are of toddling FOUR DOORS DOWN to the retirement home of our chief of police, plopping myself at his feet, and begging him to tell me stories. I have long since learned that I can learn from anyone of any age, because their life experiences are not mine. I don’t claim to be wise, though others claim it of me; I say only that I have studied at the feet of my elders and tried to learn wisdom from them.

@@mgmassey174 I've found the internet just gives more of what a person is seeking, but always evolving. It is our focus that determines how we experience our lives. At least in my experience.
      🕊️
Edit to make it more clear: it's what we focus on, not our focus as in determination.

I always enjoyed talking with older people rather than people my age, or to young ones who haven't been tainted by junk in the world. Children can have great wisdom, too. Somehow we forget some of that wisdom and have to regain it through mistakes and life lessons in young adulthood.

    The four stages…
    The wisdom of elder years…
    Walk in beauty…listen.
Even the childless and individuals without children can teach relatives and walk the medicine wheel.
My heart breaks for moms and dads left in
    Senior “rest “ homes.
    The Native teachings are good.

My grandparents both passed away and I still look to them for guidance. Sometimes they visit me in my dreams. I’m not Native American not am I really religious, but I do believe in the heavens and calling on our ancestors for guidance. I also believe the moon, sun and stars direct us as well, if we only listen.
I hope the younger generations will learn and keep the language and teaching and continue the customs. It’s so important to know where you came from. Our society has become so technological and we forget ton honor and appreciate the earth and what it has to offer. Life has become so complicated that we don’t spend enough time with loved ones. I visited my grandmother almost every day until she was 93 and cherish the memories of her. I would spend my lunch hour with her between jobs and visit every Sunday.
    Peace and love. 🌸

I was raised by my grandmother and grandfather (Mamaw and Pawpaw)
I miss them so much 🥺. I became a carer(caretaker) and usually for individuals.
However when Mr Dave had to go to assisted living we (all his carersthere were 3 of us taking shifts) went with him. His son knew that as beautiful as the staff took care of them, it's difficult when there's not enough people. But I digress, we got very attached to everyone at this place. I still remember how Miss j takes her coffee.
When someone would pass they wheeled them slow out the FRONT DOOR and made an announcement,... We lined the hallways, staff, residents, and caretakers so Everyone got a chance to say goodbye, AND to acknowledge the beautiful friend going to the next place. They would say in the announcement, that "Mr or Ms (fill in the name), graduated, let's send them of right"
Always liked that! Other places I've seen take them out the back, and don't say anything about it. They say we don't want to upset them. ..... THAT UPSET THEM.
They never think maybe (some) of the cause of them being cantankerous is that
NO ONE LISTENS, and there's a difference between being kind and speaking to an elder, and cooing to a baby. Speaking Honestly....... Also, Listening Honestly
Would change so much. Many of our Youth are angry
For being ignored ..... Anger unexpressed
Turns to hate. Many of our Elders are being ignored, this should not be. These Elders have enough wisdom to impart to these children, vice versa. Thanks 🙏, I'll get off my soapbox Love y'all ❣️

I remember like it was yesterday when I had the realization that I always got sage advice from my father. Parents are your primary channel of God’s infinite grace for steering your “ship” in the right direction. This is why I tell people that it’s nonsense this idea that at 18 you’re an “adult” and don’t need to listen to your parents.
Regardless of how old you are (or your parents) you should honor them by seeking their counsel. My parents passed from this life 17 years ago but I’m still living by the tenets that they laid down in my soul from an early age.

Thank you, Wally. I am an Elder, no grandchildren at all... I find myself teaching individuals that come in my path many things, many times. I enjoy sharing my knowledge, listening to their woes, dilemmas and misdirection. My favorite quote is from the Great Buddha: "When the Student is Ready, The Teacher will appear. I am sure you can relate, and have a wise Navajo saying that is similar. I am so thankful for your resilience through all that the Navajo Nation has been through, known and unknown.
I have not seen my daughter in decades. So I adopt children as I go through life, when I see a need. Albeit it does not last, things change, people move on, etc. But the reward is the sharing of my experiences, wisdom, and talents I have learned. I have done many things, mastered many skills, and learned other languages.
You are so correct, Listening is key, we have been given one mouth, and two ears to listen and learn from all that we have gone through individualy. At 77 I know whereof I speak. God Bless.
