no matter how many times i've watched this and have the jokes memorized, i still end up crying too much to be able to discreetly watch this episode in the corner of my screen while i'm at work. literally every SINGLE time i've tried to watch this episode at work it's fucking everyone screaming "Jefferson Starship?!" and then the moment of realization that there are no subtitles.. and then i start sobbing when Dave points out that they "really committed to this non-language bit"

Yay, a comment on this one! Haha, with all the traffic we've been getting it seems like every other episode gets love except this Holiday Special, and it's one of our favorite episodes we've ever made.
You guyz should do a Drunk The Wiz since it was notably mentioned in almost every Drunk Disney episodes

I like how it's a holiday special and it has absolutely nothing to do with the holidays lol
Not our holidays, i.e. Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa. But since STAR WARS takes place "a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away," of course they wouldn't celebrate any of our earthly holidays. Instead, they celebrate Life Day, which is what they're doing at the end, once Chewbacca gets back home to his family.
It was released on November 17th
I forgot to add that their Life Day was supposed to be the equivalent of our Christmas/Thanksgiving mixture.
Plus, it appears that Lumpy, the son, doesn't have homework to do, so we could take it to mean the school holidays.

I was expecting them to point out Bea Arrthur. I'd read about this special and that she made a guest appearance as the canteen owner, so I was anticipating her turn... but then, nothing. She was just called 'old.'I guess they don't know who she is. But in 1978, she was just fresh off her 6-season run of her hit TV sitcom MAUDE. She wouldn't do GOLDEN GIRLS till 7 years later, but it's the role most people identify her in.

This was one of my all time favorites. I've watched it multiple times today.
I remember watching this and barely being able to push through the 20+ minutes of subtitle-less Wookie dialogue, although the random cartoon with the dinosaur/whale creature who lived in the sea of Fanta with Boba Fett was pretty chill. Props to you guys for surviving the whole way through!
