I totally agree 100 %. My man on the drums is solid and in the groove. I really enjoyed those fills, and the hi hat pops were perfect. ❤ i love it. Those drag rolls on that lovely snare are sweet and clean. Great playing, awesome technique, and beautiful control. Thank you for my enjoyment. I've been drumming over 45 yrs, and i appreciate this kind of drumming and music. The bass player is excellent. I felt the rhythm in his playing, and i heard very, very nice stuff. Great blend with the drummer/ bass player. Thank you both. Peace and love.
I watch and listen to Dave’s drumming most nights. Without a doubt the best drummer I have heard. Man, you have just GOT it, beautiful feels, not a wasted note!
Fabulous performance by David Northrup and the entire band!!! I watched this three times in a row just to make sure this amazing groove seeped deep enough into my soul. It did.
Lovely. I am not a drummer but am loving these insights from the drummers perspective. Amazing how they keep the groove just bang on. AND then there is Bozzs falsetto and killer lyrics. Excellent stuff David.
64 yrs. old and been playing drums since I was 7. Playing less is always playing more, a drummer's job is to keep time, put fills where needed as well as put accents where needed they compliment the music, not compete other musicians during the song. Always keep it simple. This dude is doing just that and it's what good drummers do. Gotta love Boz's style, he puts out some smooth grooves.
I've heard this song nearly hundred times since I discovered the Bozz Scags live dvd version on YT 4 o 5 years ago. I've heard several live versions of Bozz since then. In The David Foster and Friend version the drummer is terrific too and I suspect that plays the GREAT Nathan East on bass. I think that everything is "in place" (besides the great musicians) because the arrengment are WRITTEN from the first take. By the way... Anyone knows if this drummer is the same drummer that plays in the Bozz dvd? Thank you.
Marvellous groove and pocket David. I'm sure you'll agree that this is another example of a terrific song made great by Jeff's drum part. He was able to do that on so many recordings.
This drummer is wonderful. Super tight groove, with slick drags and rolls on his awesome dounding snare drum. Just great playing from beginning to end. Perfect technique. I could watch him play all day.
Excellent hands and technique; love the movement and flow. He plays these as close to the studio versions as I have ever heard, Its just awesome. Well., thats a Pro. Great stuff. So relaxed and comfortable. Porcaro would be proud.. :)
Thank You, Thank You for you're very kind words! Porcaro was my hero and probably my biggest drumming influence. His parts were always so musically perfect I tried to emulate as close as possible on certain songs where it made sense. I felt like honoring those parts honored him and the music.... Again thanks for your kind words and for checking this out! ✌️❤️🥁
Fantastic. Being there live completes the full experience. Everyone held their own playing homage to Mr.Neil Peart. Every greatest artist in the world always takes a little something and adds it to their own. Imagine getting the call from Geddy Lee OC ( He has choose the 3 masters of entertainment for whatever reason Mr. Lee had. He evenly Respects the 3s Style.🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
@@DavidNorthrup I do not know the first thing about drumming but I do know Boz Skaggs music. You make him sound sooo good. Tell you the truth I'd rather watch your videos than listen to the originals. The test used to be was could you make the live performance sound as good as the record. Actually you make it the reverse.. you make the live performance sound better.
Making the music feel good and other musicians calling you because you lay down a comfortable rhythmic blanket for them to lay on that's what keeps a drummer working.
David i had never heard of you until i watched travis tritt and i researched your name then i saw you here with bozz! Totally impressed by your impeccable timing, and suttle attack, i have a new favorite drummer ☺ one question is that snare metal or wood it has a distinctive pop or it may be the guy hitting it!
Hi Tracy, thanks for your very kind words! That snare drum is actually a Gretsch 6.5x14 Bell Brass Snare Drum. One of my favorites these days and perfect for the Boz gig. Very versatile.
This folks is the best kind of drumming. No overplaying, no over accenting. I’ll take this guy every time. As a bass player, he makes my part easy.
Thanks!!
You sound great. I got no problem telling it.
I totally agree

Yeah, I am a drummer, and I can say it takes a lot of confidence to play this way (assuming one can actually play this silky smooth).
Yup
I've been watching this video for months, I've seen it at least 50 times and I still enjoy it like the first time.
@@jhonpirzz8018 thank you! I appreciate your kind words.

Lovely.

Boz is like close to seventy there- what-A- rocker!! I want the Dukes of september to come back. Now it'll be more like The Knights of November...

Watched this about 5 times. I dig the bare bones simplicity; everybody playing their part precisely without a lot of frills and extras.
Thanks, I appreciate your kind words!

Fun gig! I've said it before, but great drumming David! You Porcarco, Gadd, Erskine, Lawson & Ferrone are among the best groovers around!
Gives the term. Silk Degrees whole new meaning, the Boz just does not age, keep on jammin
I adore drumming like this, tight , simple, extremely groovy ❤️
Great groove! Thanks for the drum lesson. Tight and right! Space is the place. When there's no hole ..... there's no soul!
Thanks Mark

David Northrup i am using a ludwig crome over brass 14 x 8 ! I really thought your snare was wood. Sounds like heads are fairly loose ?
