Glad You Did A Fantastic & Thorough Review On This Because I'm So Intrigued By The Slipcase Alone & The Trailer Compelled Me As Well. Going To Pick This Puppy Up!
This film’s original title was Captain Clegg. It features some great actors including Oliver Reed in an early role. Hammer are one of Britain’s greatest film companies. It produce brilliant gothic and other diverse films. If you want to catch up on more Hammer films - Indicator have great box sets. Issue was not that booze was illegal but that they were not paying duty - the authorities trying to catch Captain Clegg are HM Customs and excise men. The film featured an actor called Michael Ripper playing undertaker - I met him a few times in the 80s - he was a great guy.
Captain Clegg (Night Creatures) is one of my favorite in Hammer's catalog, which I did a deep dive in to a couple years back. If you're looking for a starting point, check out my ranked Letterboxd list! boxd.it/8MR8G
I didn't care for this one. I wouldn't classify it as horror. It's more adventure/mystery. If you want a much better movie with Oliver Reed, check out Paranoiac.

I have a hoodie with an image from this movie and have been curious to watch it
I don't think I've ever heard of this movie before Ken and it was made back in the 1960s cool review I should check this movie out
I agree Ken I feel that same interest about movies in the 60s that have to do with like pirates and that whole age back then.
I'll watch anything with Peter Cushing in It.
If you want horror, watch Oliver Reed in Burnt Offerings!
