@@JonathanQjapan1990 if it was once every so often I wouldn't mind, but this guy talks about it almost on a daily basis. I don't even watch his show anymore if I see Switch 2 mentioned in the title
That puts it at the same price or around the same price as a ps5 digital system. I just don't see them saying hey buy our switch two its the price of a ps5.
@@writer8706 exactly. Somehow he left that point out of the video. Not sure how he missed the most obvious comparison. Ps5 specs Vs Switch 2. That’s the whole story. The other half of the story is Nintendo is way more family friendly in getting parents to buy their console. Why would they want to ruin that. This is why Nintendo gets cheap hardware so it can stay a cheap console.
My sentiments exactly. If it does everything we think it does based on rumours, then $400. If it happens to have an OLED screen right away and maybe have a bit more than 256gb storage and some other killer feature; then $450. But make no mistake; I'm getting this thing no matter what; it's just that maybe the number of games I get with it; are subject to change.
@@writer8706 Switch is significantly different than PS5 just like og switch was. May I also remind you OG switch was $299 and that was the SAME PRICE as PS4 at the time? Look it up. I remember MANY people thinking Switch was DOA at $299 because a PS4/XBOX base models were the same price.
Depending if it's actually a good upgrade from the standard Switch, I think it might be better to release it at 400 because if they can't market it that well or really show people why they should upgrade from the Switch 1 right away, they're gonna end up having to reduce the price after a while, and that'll look bad.
The price isn't what killed the WiiU. The lack of marketing (most people had no idea what it was), the fact that it was effectively a side grade of the Wii with that obnoxious controller tablet monstrosity and that there were no exclusive games that compelled buying it over a Wii. That stated, $400+ will absolutely kill the Switch2 unless it is an absolutely giant upgrade over the switch, which I just don't see happening. You cannot compare it against something like the steamdeck or anything else really.
That's true. There are however many people like myself who really wanted a wii u and knew exactly what it was but just thought it's too much for the console.
@@nnamditube6477 problem is they'll still be selling the switch and switch OLED, and we know that Nintendo from the switch generation onward wouldn't dream of cutting prices. So they'll probably sell it for 449-499 so that the prices will indicate "this is a substantial upgrade for enthusiasts and the switch 1 is a budget system for families"
I am in the same boat as you. I’m hoping it is priced at $399 but with the price of the ps5 pro and Xbox series x I’m expecting Nintendo to reach the $499 price point on the Nintendo switch successor. Only time will tell but no matter what it is priced at I’m looking forward to moving on from the OG switch it has been long over due. I’ll definitely be picking up one day 1 if I can get my hands on one.
I have a hard time believing Nintendo wants to go above $399 for this system. It’s not impossible that $449 could end up being the price point, but I feel like given that we know they’re abandoning the OLED screen in favor of an LCD one, it stands to reason that they would want to avoid putting a 4 at the front of the price tag as much as possible.
400$ is still too much for those specs, it has the power of a ps4/xbox one and you can get one of those for less than half that, heck the ps5 sold for less than that these holidays.
Honestly they should price it at $350-$400 and take a loss on the hardware. If you look at it the cost of the switch one with the surrounding context, it was priced so that they made profit on the hardware. The switch 2 however is going to have to convince that 100 million user base that to switch over. I think if Nintendo releases a $450 system, They would be flying a little too close to the sun there. What 12-year-old kid would be able to save up almost $500 for a video game console that mostly plays games on a significantly cheaper console?
Pretty much, it's a hard sell to the install base, £400 is probably the limit of what I would be willing to pay, the OLED is already not selling that well anymore here and people just buy the OG with a bundled game, obviously it will still sell regardless but it will sell a lot better if they can hit that price point
@@rokko_fable I'm not going to argue what these things cost to Nintendo because I can't itemize what they're packing in (neither can you) but Xbox and PlayStation generally sell at a loss to compete, and Nintendo is competing with their self
There are a select number of Switch games here in Europe that are 70 euro. Smash Bros Ultimate comes to mind, but I know there were more of them (BotW maybe), the rest is 60 or 50. Sony is charging 80 euro for a lot of their games on PS5, 70 during the PS4 gen, they were 60 before that. Chances are high all 3 of them are going to increase prices in the US as well next gen.
Nintendo made more profit on Switch than all their other consoles and handhelds COMBINED. They have plenty of leeway to not have to squeeze out max profits.
They broke the record by being scummy. There’ll probably be a V2 with a more optimized chip, a lite and then an oled and then a “pro”. They’re not gonna go all out day one because they know there’s people who will buy a slightly better version in a year.
@@geminijinxies7258because the OLED screen is an excuse to do a refresh mid life cycle, also means they can fix any hardware exploits that are found etc, I don't see it happening at release
I bet they will price it $399,99 for a couple of reasons: 1. Like Sony, Nintendo can take a hit on console prices because they will probably sell a hundred million or more in the long run. 2. 399 is that sweet spot for average gamers and parents who go to stores and just look for the cheapest console available. (What Nintendo has been for years) 3. If it would perform like the steam deck or rog I would expect it to be more expensive but apparently it has pretty conservativee performance
Hard to believe it would take them that long to release an OLED version nowadays considering even mediocre phones come with AMOLED and some extra stuff like 3 cameras. I'm also almost confident they'll go for an OLED lite option too, people who ONLY play portable have a lot more to gain from OLED screens.
@@peidei2vezesThis is Nintendo we talking about. It took 4 years to release Switch OLED version. While PS Vita was released with OLED screen right from the start. Wake up!😓
I think what happens is, they casually (Twitter post) announce a price cut for the OLED and discontinue the lite and red box switch and sell through remaining inventory. Or...Nintendo comes out strong and ends their last generations by launching a regular switch 2 and switch 2 lite on day 1. Which would give them a lot more incentive to just end production of switch 1 sku's Pricing-wise though, I'm expecting $500 ($400 if they launch a lite), but would be pleasantly surprised if it's $400 ($300 for lite)
If it is $500 I would be shocked as they are price matching the PS5. Even with the value proposition as a handheld I would NOT want to make that argument, the comparisons of it to PS5 for graphics would plague it then. Nintendo will avoid this. Even if this is largely the same as the Switch 1 in the design I don't see a $500 pricepoint as a great sell when it has to be compared to the PS5 then. I think if Nintendo prices it at $500 it will end up like what happened with the 3DS, just less severe. Within' a year they will cut the price by $50 or even $70.
@NetflixForeign there is no scenario where they don't price match the PS5 since Sony has already had a sku at $400 (PS5 digital) for years now and is inevitably going to be compared to the competition anyway. I'm betting on it costing more than anyone is anticipating rather than it being the budget-friendly option this time around.
@@OhluhKayTall I consider this a false argument since for all purposes that was an incomplete system in that you didn't have a physical option at that pricepoint. I believe the Switch 2 will have a physical option across the board so $500 is the PS5 pricepoint it needs to be compared to. If Nintendo sells it at $500 it will end up like the 3DS situation, just less severe. They will price drop it within' a year by $50 or even $70. Yes I said it will be less severe but it will be severe enough they will want to price drop it. In the meantime many people will sit on their Switch's and wait for the price drop. There are plenty of good games on it so they can wait. I think this system will last a good 10 years, maybe more so charging $400 in the long run won't buy them considering all the software they will get. The system has enough legs that whatever compromises made to match up with PS5 and 6 games will be enough, especially considering the swingback we are about to get with AAA. I predict we will see a lot more AA games which will fit the Switch 2 quite nicely. I predict a number of $60 and $50 games launching regularly because they are budgeted accordingly.
@@NetflixForeign what? How would that be a false equivalence when Sony is a direct competitor offering multiple skus? By that logic, why on earth would people continue buying the current switch OLED ($350) when they could get an Xbox series S instead ($300) that? Because yes, while pricing is a big factor, it's definitely not the only reason someone buys one console over another.
I have a feeling that with donkey kong releasing this Thursday, at the earliest they'd reveal switch on Friday, but I don't get the feeling that's likely.
I'd love to believe that the Switch2 will be 399.99 but more realistic price would be 449.99 or 499.99 especially since we have inflation on everything around us, games went from 59 to 69 even 79 like COD BO6 in Europe, plus Sony was able to sell their PS5 Pro for 699.. with no stand.. no disc drive might i say.. Nintendo might release a cheaper model for 299 later with less features like they did with the Switch Lite.
$300 just like the the original switch; with us way past the pandemic and the PlayStation five and Xbox series X not having any new systems anytime soon; there should be like plenty out as long as it doesn’t launch in the holiday season
Best comment. So many people don’t get this and are just thinking about themselves (knowing they are going to buy it). You don’t want parents going: nah, I would have bought this for you kiddo but too expensive.
@@xKillZone99 Nintendo considers their first party intellectual properties to be premium… and they aren’t wrong about that. There’s a reason that Nintendo franchise are the strongest in the industry and have been for the past 5 decades and part of that is the protectionist tactics they use to prevent their titles from filling the bargain bin. While Sony/Microsoft franchises come and go.. Nintendo keeps their titles strong and ever green. It’s smart business that’s good for Nintendo, good for the industry and good for gamers that love their products.
I predict that the Switch 2 will be $400 dollars. The only way I see it being more than that is if it comes with an OLED screen and a good amount of internal storage.
$399 - $449 was what I was figuring. It depends how many OLED models they plan on continuing to sell. I think they have a nice pricing ladder in place if the current models are still on the shelf. With the Lite at $199, Red Box at $299, OLED at $349, you have the option for a $100 mark up for the new system from your previous offering. I have a feeling at $399 keeps the Switch from feeling un-prohibitive to most families/customers. Nintendo also needs to sell multiple to a single household again to have the success they did last gen.
Remember when the 3DS launched at $250 and then Nintendo slashed the price by 47% to $170 six months after release? Switch 2 cannot be priced higher than $400 at launch. Switch 2 would sell best at $350 LCD and $400 OLED. Nintendo has lots of ways to make a premium above the base model, I give it 99% chance the base model Switch 2 is $350, and heck that 1% extra chance can say we have a sliver of hope of Nintendo subsidizing hardware and selling Switch 2 at $300 even.
If it's indeed using Samsung 8nm process node, I doubt it would be $400. If it was TSMC 5nm, sure, but if Nintendo went to 8nm it means they got an insane deal on them. Probably $350, maybe $380. The fact it doesn't have an OLED screen also suggests a relatively cheap price.
@@SatwrDigital Foundry has suggested it is an 8nm node based on the leaked board and comparing die size to the suspected T239 (?) chip that the Switch 2 will be using. So 8 nm is more likely than 5 nm so far….. although no one actually knows.
@@Satwr I hope it's not 8nm but I am not knowledgeable enough to have a proper opinion. I trust Digital Foundry more than some reddit posts even if they can be wrong. That's why my post starts with an "if".
@@MK73DS based on the evidence so far I would say it’s 90-95% likely it is an 8nm node. Additionally it being an 8nm node does not mean that Nintendo won’t charge 400+$ as Nintendo likes to make profit on their hardware, which would line up with using a 5 year old chip and still pricing according to market trends. However this does not mean that the Switch 2 won’t have great games. It just means keep the expectations in check and expect a better and more powerful Switch instead of comparing it to a Steam deck, ROG Ally, Series S or PS4 Pro. It can still be great despite being less powerful than those other machines :)
$500 would cause too much sticker shock. PS & Xbox users may be used to that price, but not Nintendo users. Plus, if it really is gonna be as strong as a PS4, then it should be the same price as the PS4 was back when it first came out, which was $400.
If it’s going to be the equivalent to a ps4 power wise it shouldn’t be any more than 299.99 at this point in time. Otherwise price vs performance will be laughable.
@zenvultra you are completely forgetting that switch 2 is a handheld, so having a handheld with the power of the ps4 that you can take anywhere is amazing, why do you think all of the pc handhelds are expensive that come close to the ps4 graphics performance, just think a little bit, use that noodle of yours.
For me, the most important factor in my decision to get a Switch 2 will be the game lineup at launch. At this point, my Switch has been collecting dust for over a year now. I'm currently playing games on my PC, PS5 and Xbox Serie X, so a new Nintendo console that support 4K and has 256 GB of storage is not that exciting to me. A new 3D Mario or Zelda game could bring me back to Nintendo.
if you look at the screen and the storage €399 makes the most sense, because it's not an OLED screen and 256 GB is not enough for a Xbox series S (if the specs are comparable) they will sell you the storage (512GB micro SD Express) for about €90 and then the console will be €489 for a complete experience. I have no doubt nintendo is going to capitalize on micro SD Express because 256GB is way to little for long term use.
It's a really tough one for Nintendo, too expensive and they lose their core markets of pre teens getting their first console which probably equates to a guaranteed 12m sales a year. But if its not a big step up in performance on the original then existing owners won't upgrade. Personally I can't see many existing owners upgrading anyway maybe older gamers with a soft spot for Nintendo or pokemon fans once the first switch 2 release comes out but definitely not the casual gamers who just bought for animal crossing or ring fit etc. Can't really see want they can do with mario kart 9 to get casuals to buy a whole new system again?
I expect it'll be actually less than the OLED. Simply because affordability is one of the biggest reasons they are selling so many, and they are producing a ridiculous number of units straight out of the gate. US tariffs might take it to $350, maximum. In the UK I think £320 maximum but quite possibly only £300. Just look at the Wii, DS and OG sales. They'll just discount and sell through the old stock, keeping only the Lite until a new one arrives, maybe revise the OG.
Doesn't matter what it costs, we'll all buy it, it shapes up to be probably the best system of all time with the biggest and most diverse catalogue of games that any console ever had 💪💪
I'm hoping the Switch's successor will only be one SKU at launch (with future variants coming in down the road) and the MSRP will be 365 USD. However, I wouldn't be shocked if it gets into $400 territory at minimum or $450 territory. However, I think Nintendo's going to have a difficult time selling to the non-core Nintendo fans on the idea of spending $450 in particular when they can get a more powerful system in the form of a Steam Deck for around the same price point or PS5/Xbox Series.
I wouldn't be surprised by $500 launch price if they take too long to get this out. There could be higher import taxes with the next administration threatening to raise tariffs. If it's only a 10% additional tariff over previous, then a $450 is raised to $495. (Edit to fix typos.)
i think you are forgetting, the switch is meant for children - do you think a parent will spend $450 on a switch for an 8 year old? maybe, but most parents won’t. specially since the OLES still looks great and many kids got one for Christmas!
Lol no its not, what they're saying is it's targeted *primarily* towards children, and it's still not. saying the switch is for children is pretty out of touch sorry to say to the op.@danielcraig9666
@@danielcraig9666 Nintendo's brand is the most child-friendly compared to PlayStation and Xbox. They need to keep their prices in check to keep up their most vital (not necessarily largest) market.
450 would be an absolute high end, although difference between this and the ROG ally etc is that there is no real way for those devices to earn extra income from game sales whereas Nintendo is selling entry to an ecosystem I think if nintendo really want to get people to upgrade en-masse I think they will have to hit the 400 mark because people are going to need a new SD card with SD express The higher they push the price the harder of a sell this is to people because once you hit the 450 mark you're looking at getting on to PS5 prices and it's not going to be able to compete with those despite the upgrades
I reckon, switch 2 will be sold dockless at $300-$350, and they'll sell a wireless dock at about $150-200 with a normal dock either priced as it is now, or maybe goes up in price to $100 to make margins, but still keep it at a low price.
But the OLED came out 5 years into the generation. They could have easily sold the og Switch for $250, and $280, or $300 for the OLED. Pricing it at $350 was a marketing strategy. And it was a good one, because it told them the market was willing to pay 350 for the same system, which means people will be willing to pay $400 for a new more powerful one.
It'll look better than the oled's screen due to it simply having a better resolution. It's basically he same thing as when people compare the steam deck oled's screen to the rog ally x's screen as the ally x's looks much better simply due to it being a 1080p screen compared to the steam deck oled's 800p resolution.
Nah, I'll take 800p OLED over 1080p LCD. It's just that much better, especially if they need upscaling to get there anyway. @@jaydenphilbertmunipals9089

Are we talking about Nintendo and nvidia here? Be ready for a $499 just one sku, no games. If playstation is selling the ps5 pro, there is no incentive for Nintendo to go lower.
The pro isn't selling well though that's the thing, just because they lost it that doesn't mean people are buying, it's not really worth the extra money to most gamers
Over $400 seems risky for a broad mainstream Nintendo system. Given that they didn't drop the price of Wii U or Switch hardware, they can afford to lose some upfront since it'll stay at $400 for the rest of its life for the dockable version.
It’s literally impossible for Nintendo to price the Super Switch at $449.99 I know based on everything so far, that the solid price will be $399.99 & not a dime more. A solid position for Nintendo to keep selling the OLED Switch & drop the Base Switch/ Lite. I’m thinking they’ll also replace the Lite, Sooner rather than later to get more people onto the new platform. It all makes perfect business sense. Though they could also start at $349.99 to completely replace the Switch OLED but with the popularity, I’d say they have no need.
they will not discontinue the og switch immediately, the customer base is simply too large. there will be a transition period with both switch generations active. during that period, i suspect that the og switch will be discontinued and then the og switch will surpass the ps2.
I predict $399 for standard switch 2, $249-$279 for lite and $499 for Oled or upscale model. If the standard Switch 2 is over $400 it will be a hard sell for families and it won't be a runaway success like the Switch 1.
I don’t see a lot of discussion about potential tariffs and their impact on hardware for the gaming and PC/PC Handheld communities. I keep looking at refurbished Steam Decks and I have been holding off on making a purchase for something upgraded next year. I have a kid and a second on the way, so I’m very cost conscious at the moment. I hope I don’t regret waiting.
I’ve been saying it’ll cost $500 for some time now. The Yen has been tanking for some time now with no signs of improving. They’ll have to pass the loss in purchasing power to the consumer.
It's the other way around... Weak Yen is good for exports. The same dollars now are worth more Yen, but their engineers/developers are probably still paid more or less the same amount of Yen as before.
@@chorbo0100yes, it typically is better for exporters but a good portion of their business is domestic. Regardless, their current situation is that the Switches sales have seen on a downturn along with the Yen and they have to pay for development and manufacturing upfront, that’s the initial squeeze that they face when their purchasing power is at a low point and their revenue stream is likely below their typical average. Plus, there’s always an uncertainty when launching a new product because there’s no guarantee of success and Nintendo knows that better than anyone.
I think they could do either $400 or $450 (or somewhere in between), but I can't see them going any lower than that. What we've seen of the chip set is that they are using the older 8nm process, so it's still very possible they can get it down to $400. That may be the reason they've waited so long to launch the new hardware: if they could launch in 2025 at $400 rather than earlier at a higher price point. All speculation, but it matches the rumors.
Anything over 400 will be a problem. It’s launching near the end of console cycle and would be their most expensive console ever, inflation notwithstanding. In the mind of the “average shopper” you can buy an Xbox for 300 and PS5 for 400. It doesn’t matter that they don’t have discs as phones acclimated everyone to digital purchases.
Nobody likes the idea of rights being taken away so I don't know why y'all like the idea of options being taken away thanks to digital sales being much more than physical
I think they'll follow a similar plan they did with the Switch. They'll probably do $399 for a base Switch 2 and in a few years, release an updated OLED version for $449. Which seems fair and aligns with Nintendo's views of how they've always wanted to bring their stuff into homes for cheaper than the competition.
@ Sony reduces their game prices after launch and also puts their games on PC Nintendo is very "everything we make is always worth our original asking price" and "you will use our products in the exact way we originally intended them to be used or you will not use our products at all" Both of those are very apple things
I think the Switch 2 annoucement will come either this Tuesday or Wednesday. I also think a slightly higher price tag will communicate quality, and will better appeal to the hardcore gamer as well as casual.
There's no way it's going to be $350, but $399.99 is the absolute max Nintendo ought to price it. Anything over $400 would be a severe mistake. I hope they haven't gotten too cocky, like they had after the DS's humongous success and the 3DS launch debacle after that... 🙄
I personally know probably close to a dozen people who want a Switch but don't have one due to it being out of their price range. These people are in their early-late 20s. A $450 Switch 2 will be a big ask from Nintendo, and I can see it doing more harm than good. Personally, I'm buying it regardless. But, my point is I see $450 being too much for a lot of Nintendo's audience AND especially their potential audience. If we do see a $450 Switch 2, then that means Nintendo really backed themselves into a corner with their current Switch lineup and pricing and had little other choice. As for its announcement and release date, I'm with you Jon, in that I believe we'll get a trailer the last week of this month, then a press release/tweet announcing a direct a week to two weeks maximum later which will go into further detail about its features, pricing, and availability. The direct could be in March, but I think the first week or two of Feb is more likely. I also expect it to be $400, not $450; leaks show Nintendo is saving cost everywhere it can with its vendors.
Seriously, 2 things: 1) Nintendo wants to wait until after Jan. 20th, to see what the tariffs are going to be, to hit their target price. 2) They postponed the N64 due to the launch game not being ready. There's possibly a game delaying the Switch 2 and both #1 and #2 here will co-froth, for a Switch 2 release by Valentine's Day.
Pairing a piece of software with the hardware seems like the best way to incentivize purchases of higher priced consoles. Nintendo sometimes does this but not always.
I remember everyone was expecting the original Switch to be $250 and was saying that everybody would buy a PS4 instead if it is $300 or more. I can see the same happening with the Switch 2, everybody is expecting $400 but it might end up being $450 and people will say "just buy a PS5 instead" but it'll end up outselling everything anyway lol
Id argue that dock and detachable controllers cost a significant amount, just by builtin controllers in the same board and dicking the dock, they were able to sell for 2/3 of the price. So I wonder if they can sell the regular switch 2 for 400$, they could also sell a lite for 300$. So, I think the ideal would be option for everyone: - 300$ Switch 2 lite: 128gb, LCD screen, no dock, built in controllers. - 400$ Switch 2: 256 gb, LCD screen, dock, joy-con, grip. - 500$ Switch 2 Oled: 512 gb, oled screen, dock, joy-con, chargeable grip. Maybe even the 500$ could provide a larger cut than the 400$ SKU. And many would get this version instead (as we see now more people getting the 350$ oled switch 1 than the regular 300$ for quite a long time now), but the 400$ must be an option, specially for families.
$500 is my guess. Saves them from cutting the switch price and Nintendo fans will pay anything. Especially with nvidia in it and the gold nvidia thinks their stuff is
My biggest wish for the Switch 2 is current gen upgrades for Nintendo’s exclusives like Tears, Xenoblade, Bayonetta 3, Scarlet/Violet, and others. My other wish that I don’t feel is as likely but still possible would be the addition of a GameCube emulator added to NSO
I'll personally get it at most of the rumored price points. Hard to say what it will be, with inflation and the Japanese Yen exchange rate being what they are. It's also one of those things that rumors often don't seem to get accurate. So it's probably one of the least interesting things about the system, at least for me.
Looking at previous patterns Nintendo like to do directs in February and September, specifically on Wednesdays. My guess is a direct revealing switch 2 on the 12th or 19th of February.
Well they have an investors meeting at the beginning of February. It would be insane for them to go into the meeting still having not revealed the Switch 2.
I understand that Nintendo has to go for the casual market the parents with kids and they need to target a price that’s going to be appealing for them but honestly looking around the landscape seeing a steam deck for $650 the ROG ally for seven to $800and $500 for Microsoft and Sony’s main consoles at minimum I really don’t see a problem with the switch being even as much as $500 it’s still going to look attractive at that price
Wish they also made a 3ds 2. Imagine a more powerful duel screen clamshell handheld that can be put in your pocket and has 2 of those sliding joysticks.

$449.99 only makes sense if there's a 2nd, more advanced/Deluxe SKU.
Like an OLED screen model or a model with Twice the amount of internal storage.
No way dude. That is a pre inflation price!
I think it would be $400 as well. The Switch OLED was $349 in its debut.

No chance@@nnamditube6477
@@nnamditube6477 $300 seems so unlikely. I don't think ithey would sell a simgle unit less if they sell it for $450-500
I have a hard time believing Nintendo wants to go above $399 for this system.
I dnno they might go higher than $399, maybe $400 even
£350 is the max I’d go for one, which is just over $400.
Makes sense they’ll kill the OLED model and push backwards compatibility for the switch 2
They don't even have to kill the OLED, they can kill the base model, drop the OLED down a price tier and then slot the switch 2 in
@@shanematthews1985 i think they meant the base switch 2 being lcd over oled lol
You think $350 - $400 would be a loss on hardware? Nintendo doesn’t use the latest processors etc … there is no way they’d take a loss at $350
@@rokko_fable I'm not going to argue what these things cost to Nintendo because I can't itemize what they're packing in (neither can you) but Xbox and PlayStation generally sell at a loss to compete, and Nintendo is competing with their self

What 12 year olds are saving up money these days? Itll be their parents buying it...
i’m guessing $399 USD with a price increase on carts to $70 to make up the difference
That’s BS for a Nintendo game though. Honestly it’s bad enough they’re 60. This isn’t cutting edge tech so why so much?
Lot of their games are not $60 worthy. Zelda Echoes, Mario Party and Animal Crossing to name a few.@whitediggity
@@whitediggityWhat the hell makes a Nintendo game not worth $60?
Nintendo made more profit on Switch than all their other consoles and handhelds COMBINED. They have plenty of leeway to not have to squeeze out max profits.

@@oxycircuit OLED is OLD and quite cheap tech by now. I can't see why they would wait that long to introduced it.
They broke the record by being scummy. There’ll probably be a V2 with a more optimized chip, a lite and then an oled and then a “pro”. They’re not gonna go all out day one because they know there’s people who will buy a slightly better version in a year.

They'll charge as much as they feel they can get away with, full stop.
I bet they will price it $399,99 for a couple of reasons:
1. Like Sony, Nintendo can take a hit on console prices because they will probably sell a hundred million or more in the long run.
2. 399 is that sweet spot for average gamers and parents who go to stores and just look for the cheapest console available. (What Nintendo has been for years)

I was gonna get a switch 2 but if they do this I'm not gonna get a switch 2.
If S2 doesn’t have OLED at launch, that’s a big L
@@peidei2vezesThis is Nintendo we talking about. It took 4 years to release Switch OLED version. While PS Vita was released with OLED screen right from the start. Wake up!😓
I think what happens is, they casually (Twitter post) announce a price cut for the OLED and discontinue the lite and red box switch and sell through remaining inventory.
Or...Nintendo comes out strong and ends their last generations by launching a regular switch 2 and switch 2 lite on day 1. Which would give them a lot more incentive to just end production of switch 1 sku's
Pricing-wise though, I'm expecting $500 ($400 if they launch a lite), but would be pleasantly surprised if it's $400 ($300 for lite)
@@OhluhKayTall Correction meant to say false equivalence.

The fact it doesn't have an OLED screen also suggests a relatively cheap price.
the only "source" ever saying its 8nm was a Doompost of a Twitter News Account.. Everyone else says its 5nm when comparying it to other Chips...
@@SatwrDigital Foundry has suggested it is an 8nm node based on the leaked board and comparing die size to the suspected T239 (?) chip that the Switch 2 will be using. So 8 nm is more likely than 5 nm so far….. although no one actually knows.

However this does not mean that the Switch 2 won’t have great games. It just means keep the expectations in check and expect a better and more powerful Switch instead of comparing it to a Steam deck, ROG Ally, Series S or PS4 Pro. It can still be great despite being less powerful than those other machines :)
349.99 looks better from a pr perspective, I think. But it gonna be 399.99.
$500 would cause too much sticker shock. PS & Xbox users may be used to that price, but not Nintendo users. Plus, if it really is gonna be as strong as a PS4, then it should be the same price as the PS4 was back when it first came out, which was $400.
$400 from when PS4 launched in 2013 is over $540 in today's money.
If it’s as powerful as PS4 then it should cost $200 because PS4 is 12 year old technology, and it was outdated when it came out
If it’s going to be the equivalent to a ps4 power wise it shouldn’t be any more than 299.99 at this point in time. Otherwise price vs performance will be laughable.

The guy who watches the whole video is a hero
The real heroes are the ones who click on it, pause it, leave a comment about how dumb the video is, and then go on with their day.
if you look at the screen and the storage €399 makes the most sense, because it's not an OLED screen and 256 GB is not enough for a Xbox series S (if the specs are comparable) they will sell you the storage (512GB micro SD Express) for about €90 and then the console will be €489 for a complete experience.

I wouldn't be surprised by $500 launch price if they take too long to get this out. There could be higher import taxes with the next administration threatening to raise tariffs. If it's only a 10% additional tariff over previous, then a $450 is raised to $495.

I think if nintendo really want to get people to upgrade en-masse I think they will have to hit the 400 mark because people are going to need a new SD card with SD express
The higher they push the price the harder of a sell this is to people because once you hit the 450 mark you're looking at getting on to PS5 prices and it's not going to be able to compete with those despite the upgrades
Maybe they split it and make it $429.
I reckon, switch 2 will be sold dockless at $300-$350, and they'll sell a wireless dock at about $150-200 with a normal dock either priced as it is now, or maybe goes up in price to $100 to make margins, but still keep it at a low price.

Pricing it at $350 was a marketing strategy. And it was a good one, because it told them the market was willing to pay 350 for the same system, which means people will be willing to pay $400 for a new more powerful one.

Yup, digital console sales outnumber physical by a fair margin, so the target is the PS5 slim in terms of pricing
Modern Nintendo is like the apple of gaming. It'll be on the high end
Lol what? Have you heard about a small company called sony?
@ Sony reduces their game prices after launch and also puts their games on PC
Nintendo is very "everything we make is always worth our original asking price" and "you will use our products in the exact way we originally intended them to be used or you will not use our products at all"
Both of those are very apple things
I think the Switch 2 annoucement will come either this Tuesday or Wednesday. I also think a slightly higher price tag will communicate quality, and will better appeal to the hardcore gamer as well as casual.
There's no way it's going to be $350, but $399.99 is the absolute max Nintendo ought to price it. Anything over $400 would be a severe mistake. I hope they haven't gotten too cocky, like they had after the DS's humongous success and the 3DS launch debacle after that... 🙄
My thoughts are the same why would they be pushing it.
If it's over 400$ it's be rivaling the PS5 and XBSX
Finally, someone who mentions the tariffs!
So, I think the ideal would be option for everyone:
- 300$ Switch 2 lite: 128gb, LCD screen, no dock, built in controllers.
Especially with nvidia in it and the gold nvidia thinks their stuff is
I’m definitely not paying 500. So, at least some of us customers will be lost if they go that high.
@ it’s very possible it won’t be but the fact they still charge 300 to 350 for that old switch and people still buy it idk.
Now if there’s two switches one not bundled and the bundled one. Then I could see $399 and the bundled one $449
Whatever y'all think tack on $100 at least when tariffs kick in....
They make their supplies in Vietnam for this exact reason c;
People said the same thing in 2017 before the Switch's price was announced. It didn't happen then.
@@Dad_Shoes but the oraange man backed down then he will not this time
My biggest wish for the Switch 2 is current gen upgrades for Nintendo’s exclusives like Tears, Xenoblade, Bayonetta 3, Scarlet/Violet, and others. My other wish that I don’t feel is as likely but still possible would be the addition of a GameCube emulator added to NSO
To be honest, if they come out with an OLED model of the Switch 2 at launch, I'd pay 500 at launch.
It'll probably be $450 to make it a fair deal
@ unfortunately it won’t be oled
$400 is its happy place. Differentiates itself from the both switch 1 models, but not too close to full fledged home consoles
I'm ready for whatever. Still on my launch console.
I'll personally get it at most of the rumored price points. Hard to say what it will be, with inflation and the Japanese Yen exchange rate being what they are. It's also one of those things that rumors often don't seem to get accurate. So it's probably one of the least interesting things about the system, at least for me.
It will be between $450 and $500, and i will buy it on the first day.
I'm thinking $500. Nvidia gets $100 for their GPU, and Nintendo gets the $400
