  • Buffalo vs. Beef: Which Protein is Better? - Thomas DeLauer… What is grass-fed beef v grain-fed beef? The way cows are fed can have a major effect on the nutrient composition of the beef that we consume. Fatty Acid Comparison: Grass-fed vs Grain-fed-
What a cow eats can have a major effect on the nutrient composition of the beef.
This is particularly evident when it comes to the fatty acid composition. Grass-fed beef tends to be much leaner than grain-fed beef, and as a result, lower in total fat. However, grass-fed beef can have 2-6x more “good” fats in the form of omega 3’s.
www.ThomasDeLau... for all your business, health, and fitness answers.
    Major Cons of Grain-fed:
-Higher Incidence of Bacteria Growth. Conventionally” raised cows carry a greater risk of spreading E. coli infection to humans due to the higher incidence of harmful bacteria growth in grain-fed animals, and fecal contamination in feedlots and on kill floors. “Conventionally” raised meats contain residues of everything the animal was exposed to, which includes veterinary drugs, heavy metal residues, and pesticides from their grain-based diet.
    Buffalo Meat:
Regulations and industry standards don’t allow the use of hormones or routine antibiotics, which are often given as growth promoters to cattle. According to the USDA, “antibiotics and growth hormones are not given to buffalo, they are allowed to roam freely most of their lives and are raised on the open range and eat hay or grass.” This means that any buffalo meat you eat won't be laced with growth hormones - should all technically be grass-fed buffalo.
All bison are grass-fed, though some may be "finished" on grains. “Finished” refers to the time that animals are fattened for the last few months before slaughter. Bison that have been exclusively grass-fed and grass-finished will typically be labeled as 100 percent grass-fed.
In addition, grass-fed buffalo meat nutrition includes higher levels of two
powerful antioxidants; beta-carotene and selenium than beef. It also has more iron than conventional beef. However, it has a lower amount of saturated fats.
    Buffalo v Grass-fed beef:
    - Buffalo contains higher levels of beta-carotene and selenium than beef
    - Buffalo has less calories and less fat than grass-fed beef - leaner cut of meat
    - Buffalo has less saturated fat than grass-fed beef - less omega 3’s

@@adamellistutorials No, that's a misconception people have. Bison and buffalo are two different species. Bison are what we have here in America and Buffalo are what they have in Africa. The Europeans came to America and named the bison buffalo because they thought they looked similar.

    Buffalo vs Beef
Our family has ate Buffalo for years! And if it is not cooked right it is not fit to eat! It is much harder to cook than beef. Bones are bigger in Buffalo and leaner also means tougher which is not what you want to hear when you are about to eat supper.
Even ground up like hamburger meat, Buffalo is still a tougher than ground beef.

You need to add more fat to the meat since buffalo is much leaner. That melt in the mouth feeling of beef is all fat

Mary's Free Range Organic chicken is very misleading. "Free Range" means their birds were given 1 sq ft of space each, and "organic" means they were fed corn & soybean that were organic (but its still corn & soybean, grains very high in Omega 6 and usually glyphosate). Don't be fooled by the marketing

Cows can eat grain and still be healthy. It just shouldn't be the majority of the diet. As a butcher I prefer grain added the last 100 days to the diet. This produces the most dense and healthy meat.

    • @katie3235
      @katie3235 7 років тому +1

Pastures have to be cultivated with fertilizer and sometimes resown. If this is not by organic standards, then the beef is not organic. If the label says organic, then you have to trust the manufacture or farmer that they have raised the animal accordingly.

If it costs more than you'll either eat it less often, or less less total weight each time. What's the point?
That's like buying free range chickens that cost $8.00 per pound even if they were raised in the same county that you live in.

To me this guy totally misses the point of which is better. When the hell did lean equal better? He seems to think for some unknown reason that no fat in a piece if beef makes it the best of all. I feel that he is doing his best to plate up and serve the viewing public a load of garbage. I agree with him that grass fed cattle and bison not "buffalo" is a healthier and better animal. I also prefer to eat these cattle. The reason I prefer to eat them however has nothing to do with the fat content of this beef. It simply and quite fantastically TASTES better. Imagine that, picking a meal because you prefer the FLAVOR. Just as cattle naturally like to eat grass and forage for tasty branches in the forest, human beings like to eat these animals because of the way that they taste. I also would like to comment on one of the video clips that he posted. It was at 2:45. These animals are DAIRY cows they do seem to be eating here and not giving milk. There are also issues in having cattle who eat things like silage and grain giving milk at the dairy. I would certainly prefer to have milk for my family that did not come from cattle who were fed in this way but it seems totally disingenuous and kind of like a lie that he is representing these DAIRY COWS as beef cattle. Hey man try something with a bit of fat on it and enjoy yourself and stop feeding slop like this to our eyes. PLEASE.
