I'M DONE. I'M SO DONE. YOU WANT TO HEAR MY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL? *AHEM* HWOONK HWWWOOOONK HWONK HWONK *SQUEAAAAK* HWWWOOONK. THAT WAS HOT CROSS BUNS. I'M DONE.
At last, trumpets that don’t sound like a dying seal, synchronized trombones, flutes that you can hear, percussion that don’t go AA, and saxes and clarinets that blend the piece together
very few members in my band can play without music in front of them. I'm one of the few sadly, I'm one of the less talented players in my band yet I'm one of the few that can memorize the music
It makes the advanced band of my school sound like that too. These are what, 3-4 graders and professional. I just can't stand how perfect they sound and don't even have music in front of them
+Eric Che Don't feel like trash... they're approach to band is very different there. Notice the lack of music stands, this music has been practiced a LOT.
Cerb The Beast same, our teacher has to go back there to help them every few measures 😂 I wish kids in our band would be this disciplined. It seems like I'm the only one who wants to sound good 😂😂😂😂😂
Holy crap. This band is amazing. My school band doesn't even have French horns, oboes, bassoons, and other instruments that a band needs. These kids are really talented.
Just a completely different world over there. The drive and determination of parents and students to succeed is incredible. In America, you're lucky to find high school bands that play this well. It's all about what's expected and the attitude of the students and parents. Too much BS in America.
The reality is that its rarely that black-and-white. Sure a lot of us Asians succeed, but many of us have to deal with excessive amounts of abuse in the process. Fortunately, I wasn't subject to that kind of abuse, but there are plenty. Its not uncommon for parents to force kids to stay up late to study and punish harshly for even something like a B. And this extends to music education as well. Thats why suicide rates in countries like South Korea, China and Japan (especially in the younger ages) are so high.
there are these little kids that sound like ADULTS and im over here in 8th grade symphonic like FR GUYS THERE IS A REST THERE... OK YOU NO WHAT WE ARE TRASH!!!
Some of the comments here are so sad. These kids have fun and have a social life outside of band (some play sports in addition to band, some have other disciplines they engage in). The difference is that they are focused on being good at what they do, instead of worshipping the god of 'fun'. Entertainment is an idol in American culture and it has infected education to the point that kids don't want to learn if it's not 'fun'. Everything in life isn't about 'fun' - when some of you grow up, you'll hopefully have learned that there are some things you do that aren't 'fun' right now that eventually lead to you being successful and accomplished at other things. And when you reach that point, being 'good' or 'excellent' at what you do becomes more fun than you could dream of. A few American students I've met and taught get this (because their parents taught them) and understand delayed gratification. Some are doctors now, others are on band scholarship somewhere for whatever their major is, using band to get them through school for free. Asian students (all of them) breathe the same air you do and live in an even more electronics-filled culture than you do. The difference is personal discipline and their parents being parents (and not trying to be their BFF).
I completely agree with the part of your argument that states that there are things we need to do in life that is not fun however, we should do them in order to be successful. But, shouldn't we aim for what we love and what we deem fun? That doesn't mean that this route won't require work, but what's the point of living life doing something you don't enjoy for money? I am a child of foreigners and I have been taught that money buys happiness, thankfully I disagreed with this ideology and plan on going into something I love as a job. I know that I must work as hard as possible in order to be successful but I feel like if I had the same work ethic and became a doctor or lawyer I would not be as happy as I would be if I was to get a music major. I might live my whole life regretting not taking a chance. I am 16, young and ambitious and I feel like I should take a chance. I also think that these kids played beautifully for their level and I admire the amount of work they put in. For some of the people saying that they have no flavor in the music, that is a high level skill and is debatable among people with different tastes. The work these kids put in show they love what they do.
MrGilliardMusic Very true comment. Life is hard sometimes and not fun, but getting there and becoming better at your skill(s) is the best part of anything you desire for in life.
Good god, this is amazing. it sounds straight out of a movie. They sound 100x better than my middle school advanced band and even the high school marching band, they're doing this by freaking memory, and they're in elementary school. E L E M E N T A R Y
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. WHO TOOK A CHICAGO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA SOUNDTRACK AND PUT THIS VIDEO WITH IT?!?!?!?!? this makes me so depressed and feel useless.
Still they're extremely talented. The chops those brass players have not to mention the lead trumpet. Blows my mind. If they memorized the fingerlings and not the notes which I doubt then it's still an extremely impressive performance.
Great work! Of course, as elementary schoolers, they are still in the process of being able to "feel" and convey their music, but excellent work. A few people in the comment section seem to have mistaken this for a North Korean ensemble. This is in South Korea. I awe in how much work is put in for ensembles like this. Japan, Korea, China, etc., even the Philippines! Just a lot of these Asian countries have such dedicated music programs, with many children who start at a very young age! Thanks for uploading!
I'm in seventh grade, in advanced band, but god these children play amazing. Better than our beginning or... sad to say intermediate. These kids must have SO much dedication and are just fully committed being in band. They aren't even reading the music or have stands.. I wouldn't be able to memorize a whole song. Outstanding.
Probably not, The rhythm of hot cross buns maybe a little advanced for a band of this caliber. There are many high notes and the articulation is insane. They will get there one day
Wow, my eyes are literally welling up at such an amazing performance. I could play the recorder well at school from the age of about 6 or 7 and thought I'd done well but these instruments are another level. Well done to each and every one of them. Just a shame the same can't be said for whoever took most of this completely out of focus. :)
WOW! this band is literally amazing. I'm a 8th grader who plays trombone, and live in Missouri. Our band program really good but these elementary kids are just amazing!! Our school usually gets 1st for the state. But I just can't believe how amazing this band sounds!! I think they can play way better than our middle school band. #shocked
I would love to go to Korea and see this school and these kids learning from the beginning. Will need to put on bucket list to do as soon as COVID gets better here in states
Simply wonderful. I actually was looking for an inconsistency to confirm them. I heard it in the horn section... but for the consistency, dear God. These guys and gals should be getting paid. That was a quality pefformance, regardless to the structured nature of the ensemble. They are children, so I appreciate the emotion that was present.
Wow!!! very mature n only elementary age. thats what band is all about sounding sharp n in harmony. i like the way how they have the music in their head not looking at sheet music and thats what the conductor is for. their style is awesome!! LOVE FRom Hawaii. former band player.
i have been in a band for years. I am 13, and every year we are put in front of judges who well judge us. obviously you know nothing about music and need a lesson, if you are old enough to play the instrument, then you should be old enough to take some instructive criticism.
I am a musician, i study hard everyday. i know and hear all the imperfections on this performance, but i also know that many bands around the world doesnt make this kind of work, this kids just put all their talent in that performance. And i aplaud that. Keep studing and getting better, but never let go of humility
Jose RPG bands are applauded even if they get a 600, what i am saying is that the band is a B thats a complement for a elementary band. Band is all about figuring out how to make a piece better. And by the way "aplaud" APPLAUD.
what instrument do you play? There a timing issues in this piece. i am not saying they are not incredible. The grading system from the county i uses is quite different from normal grading scales, a 2/100 possible scores is terrific, it means almost no mistakes, get your stuff straight before you go off ranting. have a great day Mr.Hong.
This must be what happens when band students actually practice.
Brian Trauger Nah this is what happens when people start playing when they’re three
Nah this is what happens when ur actually good at playing your instrument
This is what happens when people just now how to finger and blow air into their instruments nicely.
Nah this is what happens when the students are actually inspired to play their instruments
Idol Antro or forced to
Meanwhile when in the U.S.A, kids are learning hot cross buns on the Recorder._.

Well duh it's an elementary school. An AMERICAN elementary school. They do things different in Korea.
At last, trumpets that don’t sound like a dying seal, synchronized trombones, flutes that you can hear, percussion that don’t go AA, and saxes and clarinets that blend the piece together
😭 that's what I need from my school band. THIS
Halfway through the performance I realized they memorized the piece._.
Welcome to the world of marching band, memorizing 50+ sets while memorizing 13+ minutes of music, while having impeccable technique.
+XxTrumpetCheerxX Your shows are 13 minutes long?
+Grape Johnson not always but in some cases yes they can be
+patrick neault ????
Destiny Gonzales OMG yes
my band couldn't play this WITH music
Same, m8 DX
very few members in my band can play without music in front of them. I'm one of the few sadly, I'm one of the less talented players in my band yet I'm one of the few that can memorize the music
+Patrick Anderson im in percussion and i dont need music ... i just go on memory
+Michael Shortz Sup Mike itz Adam again LOLOL

I'm like.....ashamed to be in band now.
5 years later but, yeah, I feel unworthy of touching an instrument lol
1. How are they playing that good?
2. How can they memorize that song and still sound good?
discipline
u47tube *practice
MinionGamer oo
marching bands do it all the time
they have been playing it for 6 months straight.
Holy crap this makes our high school marching band sound like shit.
+BretbertMC Same
It makes the advanced band of my school sound like that too. These are what, 3-4 graders and professional. I just can't stand how perfect they sound and don't even have music in front of them
I didn't even notice that they didn't have music in front of them. Goddammit.
+mpmcd81 they're still perfect
+Eric Che Don't feel like trash... they're approach to band is very different there. Notice the lack of music stands, this music has been practiced a LOT.
Meanwhile I have percussion players who can't count, you know how that turns out
Oh God...
Cerb The Beast same, our teacher has to go back there to help them every few measures 😂 I wish kids in our band would be this disciplined. It seems like I'm the only one who wants to sound good 😂😂😂😂😂
Cerb The Beast I know
Welp get new percussion players
Cerb The Beast Luckily we have three really good drummers who can play really well.
Holy crap. This band is amazing. My school band doesn't even have French horns, oboes, bassoons, and other instruments that a band needs. These kids are really talented.
My band has only brass instruments
My MS band has everything but bassoon
i'm the only oboe in my band
I'm three weeks late, but oh well.
I had to switch my trumpet to a French horn because we need one
Most surprising to me was that there were NO clarinet squeaks! Absolutely fantastic
:(
Mean while in the studio the U.S.A is learning how to play hot cross buns *7th grade we learn jingle bells rock*
+DroidXGam3z FR!!!!!!! IM LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT LETS TAKE THIS VIDEO PLAY IT IN A SPEAKER AND PRETEND WERE PLAYING XD (my caps lock broke)

Absolutely incredible! The level of discipline in those children is far higher than that of some adult musicians I know. Keep it up, kids!

Parents: Good job, now do even better

TRDOAndyRocks i dont even think my Jr high band can do this..
+Joblox!0 i dont think 99 percent of high school bands can do it that good
Hello. Can we trade some trumpet players lol
+Guy Ramsey IKR?
Hahaha we got 8 of them who can't count 4 Beats measure
Mason Echols We have 6 that can't count. It drives me insane on trumpet fanfares.

Our band has 16 of them
Damn this makes me look at my band and say " Guys! we sound like SHIT"

Omg same!
Ikr same. My band that I'm in could never do this!
smae
This puts my middle school band to shame. -_-
LaCheekyWolf 365 this puts every non-Asian middle school to shame
This puts my high school band to shame
This puts every band not in Korea to shane
This puts you and your Shit to shame
this is what happens when u practice 40 hours a day, such beauty
this is a certified "aMaZiNg!" moment
"their parents would disown them if they played poorly" guys this is south Korea, not China or ancient Japan
The Tiny Gamer but they are still Asian lmao
@@ariana7332 and you're still racist

Jxymike he probably quit
THIS IS AN ELEMENTARY BAND?!?!!! HOLY CRAP.
The french horns are amazing, they sound like a studio orchestra for the oscars...i mean really gotdamn
Perfect blending, nailing those high notes, no sheet music, such a grand sound.
This is what a band should strive for.

MrGilliardMusic you know, these korean kids worked hard, really hard, they should be credited, not sympathized.
If you like band than practicing is fun
MrGilliardMusic Very true comment. Life is hard sometimes and not fun, but getting there and becoming better at your skill(s) is the best part of anything you desire for in life.
thank you for reminding me, their are some days that I do nothing because its not fun so thank you
Just one of their trumpets is louder than my bands entire trumpet section
Why did this come up when I literally searched “terrible wind ensemble”?
Good god, this is amazing. it sounds straight out of a movie. They sound 100x better than my middle school advanced band and even the high school marching band, they're doing this by freaking memory, and they're in elementary school. E L E M E N T A R Y
Those red uniforms are ridiculously cute!
I've heard high school bands that aren't this good
The Trash Man search the world's worst marching band it's so bad lmao
Daniel Shao Let's be honest, the blares there are HILARIOUS 😂😂😂😂😂
I’ve heard adult bands that aren’t this good
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. WHO TOOK A CHICAGO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA SOUNDTRACK AND PUT THIS VIDEO WITH IT?!?!?!?!? this makes me so depressed and feel useless.
Listening to shit like this makes me so mad. I've spent 5 to 6 years of my life to be this good. top 20 in my state. and they have this within 2 to 3.
+Takeo Masaki I guess some people just got it
+AustinTheDino what?
LOL look at all these nonsense comments.
"Looks like they are forced to smile" HAHAHAHAHA its south korea, not north
감동입니다.
어린이들이 이런 정도의 연주를 하다니..
지도하신 선생님도 존경 스럽습니다.
Good, This is amazing but i want to see their sight reading. Then will I be truly impressed.
Kids in Korea, Japan, China, etc practice one song like rly intense bit then their style of learning does not improve sight readin at all. It's weird.
The Anonymous Snapper what if they really can't read music and just memorized the fingerings
Daniel Shao that was the point of my comment
Still they're extremely talented. The chops those brass players have not to mention the lead trumpet. Blows my mind. If they memorized the fingerlings and not the notes which I doubt then it's still an extremely impressive performance.
Yall must be dumb if u think they memorized fingerings..
It was almost six years ago...I want to play once again if I could go back...
SONG: PORTRAIT OF FREEDOM
YOURE WELCOME
thank you very much!!
They sound AMAZING! The lead trumpet is so good!!!!
What a marvellous performance! Congratulations!
Jami Garner if a junior high's advanced band is better than this band then that band is an amazing junior high band
bro, they sound better than my high school’s wind symphony (2nd highest band)
I also noticed the trombones were out of tune at certain times, but for young people like them they did amazing.
andyyy yeah im glad im better than all of them
Man, the sound was so good the quality of the video just dipped
Every single one of them are amazing. Perfectly on point!
Okay, but can they play hot cross buns?
My favorite comment yet!
Probably not, The rhythm of hot cross buns maybe a little advanced for a band of this caliber. There are many high notes and the articulation is insane.
They will get there one day
They're so in sync
Even when they *m o v e*
Loved the 1st trumpet player, she sounded amazing!!❤
Absolutely Amazing!
These kids have more talent in a single eyelash than I do in my entire body
Well, my band just got blown out of the water
The horns are so good while my high school horn players have been playing for years and still are squeaky and goofy sounding a lot of the time
I thought this was gonna be another band concert fail because I've been getting alot of those on my feed but my ears were blessed instead.
Anyone know the name to this piece?
This shows you how Asians can beat you at anything, even in childhood.
Wow, not what I expected at all! This is great!
WOW! this band is literally amazing. I'm a 8th grader who plays trombone, and live in Missouri. Our band program really good but these elementary kids are just amazing!! Our school usually gets 1st for the state. But I just can't believe how amazing this band sounds!! I think they can play way better than our middle school band. #shocked
dawg are you graduated now?
Small world, I'm a euphonium player in Missouri! Senior right now.
I can't even... I quit
These children sound like they’ve mastered double tounging at like age 7-9 meanwhile I can’t triple tongue for 2 seconds.
Just realized they played this with their eyes closed and they are REALLY good👏
The fact that they sound better than my high & middle schools💀👏
Where's their music? 😱😱😱😱
+Megan Ding #asians
+sonicvortex99 Lol I'm Asian but I can remember shit lol
+Bi Sen To I'm Asian too and I can NOT remember my music at all! This makes me feel stupid.
+Emily Dobbs I can barley remember my choral
+Bi Sen To can't*
I would love to go to Korea and see this school and these kids learning from the beginning. Will need to put on bucket list to do as soon as COVID gets better here in states
An Exceptional Performance! Their dedication to their musical studies shows.
Man, the trumpet girl is almost better then me. ALMOST.
i bet shes better >.>
Kurt Tumbagahan I bet she is
I love how the cymbal player flashes his cymbals after clashing then
Thanks
thats how your supposed to do it
It projects the sound better.
What Do You Mean? (Song by J.B.)
Wow, simply inspiring. they play at such a very high musical level. Sight unseen one would think it was a college orchestra. Simply Incredible!
Yes, I was so disappointed their horn section wasn't on the same standard! I agree.
Comments type
87%: compliment
7%: comparing themselves
6%:horrible north Korea joke & Asian stereotype & bad joke from jealous
This sounds like a symphonic band at a high school, not a middle school band.
Great job! Especially trumpets!
They don't even have music! They're memorizing this...
What is this song?
Their parents are probably like “no they very bad”
Don't let this make you want to quit. Make it inspire you to be the best musician you can.
The little trumpet girl is so good!! THEY ARE ALL AMAZINGGG!!!
of course the asian elementary bands outclass the fricken hihschool bands in America
*takes off glasses* Mother of elementary students!
It is a brilliant performance.
I understand that a lot of breath training was necessary to create this sound.
you know what's amazing, those people play without any music paper and remember the music on their own.
im 100% completely fucking done -.- wow theyre amazing
oh my damn they are better than my county's high school honor band
Just wonderful young musicianship. Obviously take private lessons & take PRACTICE seriously. I am enthralled.
first of all, this is elementary and it sounds better than a high school band. second of all, they memorized the piece without any sheet music
My high school would have trouble playing this..... WTF MAN!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! AND they don;t have music in front of them.
I was too focused listening to the music that I didn't realize they were playing without music sheets until like 4:36
+Geeks Unite trust me your not alone ...I have my 6th grade band concert and I thought we sounded good..... :(
ispeak4detrees didn't notice at all cause it ain't real
Wow!!! very mature n only elementary age. thats what band is all about sounding sharp n in harmony. i like the way how they have the music in their head not looking at sheet music and thats what the conductor is for. their style is awesome!! LOVE FRom Hawaii. former band player.
They are amazing!!!!! WOW
5:02 O dam I swear that flutist is better than our flutes
excuuuUUUUUUUuuuuuuUUUUUUSSE ME?!
yah I think she is
Tbh I didn't see the vid but I'll bet that he/she is better than us
Tbh I think you should skip to 5:02 and listen for yourself
+daniel coffin o for fucks sake fuck off, out of key my ass
this band would earn a very high 2 or B in musical terms. The band speeds up, and needs more accents. but nice performance.
they are kids dude
i have been in a band for years. I am 13, and every year we are put in front of judges who well judge us. obviously you know nothing about music and need a lesson, if you are old enough to play the instrument, then you should be old enough to take some instructive criticism.

My god, It's beautiful. I can really appreciate a good band!
they are so good for elementry kids!! im in 7th grade band and we dont even sound as good as that whoaa
