@@OdaSwifteye I don't remember the exact timeline but I do recall there was a demo sometime before release. It consisted of all of the ruins, ending after the Toriel battle. Maybe the tweets were meant to be for those coming back after playing that?
Won't lie, I think the Undertale community is one of the few communities that actually got BETTER as the years went by. In the beginning it was SO BAADD. But overtime, in my experiences with it recently, it's gotten so much better and the toxicity isn't as bad or prevalent as it was before. Of course you still got the bad sides. Every community always has its bad apples and sides to it. But a lot of us grew up and realized that the stuff we supported back then was just really damn weird and g r o s s. Me included. The community had me think a lot of things were okay when I was younger when they really weren't. Some of the comics, ships and characters? JESUS CHRIST. I'm still glad I'm in the fandom though because I met a lot of amazing and wonderful people and friends
YOU'RE SO RIGHT THO! As the years pass, more people are starting to understand the meaning of undertale more and the characters! I've also noticed a spike in better fangames... (UTyellow and TS!underswap) I'm honestly so proud of how this community has grown and matured

Here's my motto: The world is cruel, there is nothing you can do to change it, so just try your best to live a normal life. Every fandom has it's issues. Nothing is ever perfect. R34 content, parent x child shippers, sibling x sibling shippers, and p*dophiles will always exist. There is *nothing* you can do to change it. So just ignore that side of the fandom. You don't have to leave a fandom because of those people. Just enjoy the good side and have fun. Talk to people who are on the same side as you, make good fanart, play the games, and watch the animations. Saying "The Undertale community as a whole is horrible" is rude to the people who are actually on the good side. The bad side of a fandom can go kiss an on-coming train. Let yourself love what you love. And don't let anyone take it away from you.
Yet some of this people like The Coffin of Andy and Leyley. They can deal with the incest in that game because it's Fiction and there are worse things in there, but here they're strictly against it. In short, hypocrisy.

I was in the undertale fandom from 2017 to around 2020 when fandom started to quiet down. It is still amazing that 3 years after the release i was able to joint a very active fandom. As a 11year old then i was so obsessed with the game and now it feels really nostalgic
same here, I left in 2018 or 2019 due to toxicity like god why do people disrespect emotions so damn much? people doing that to me is a major turn off and a pet peeve to me
i was in it at the same time at the same age! i only got “out of it” because i started getting into a lot of other things and my adhd makes me just forget about stuff, but coming back to the fandom after about 4 years of non-involvement, the nostalgia was incredible and my headcanons have certainly changed DRASTICALLY
The Undertale community was so fucked up istg 😭 Remember when it was a "trend" to ship Sans and Frisk ? Yeah... But *despite everything* i love that game so deeply. It CHANGED my life. The good side of the fandom is AWESOME. The fangames, the AUs lore (exept the weird ass shits 😭), the memes (certainly NOT the ships.), the theories, the fan music (TO THE BONE 🎶), the covers (i used to listen to a LOT of "Spider Dance" covers).. i love it. Ignoring the toxic people, this fandom is so funny. I mean, our man won the SEXYMAN TRUMBRL TOURNAMENT. The fandom got a big glow up, and i'm here for it. Reminder that the weird ass comics were likely made YEARS ago 😭 (I never considered toxic fans as actual fans of the show so i don't really care 💀)
My gosh, I remember this stuff when I was a kid. I used to ship Frans because i projected myself onto frisk because I had a crush on sans and thought the stuff rouge’s made was normal, (since it was treated as such and displayed as well). I’m so glad I grew up and realize how terrible these things were. Seriously though, the undertale fandom was so sexual. Being exposed to these kind of things as a kid really messed me up. Age gaps, pedo and other stuff were exposed to me through that fandom, the way people in the fandom normalized that stuff.. it just puts me in a place of disbelief. Just a little side note. As a depressed/suicidal kid back then, reading that part about Geno made me feel guilty and ignore my mental health issues. I don’t want to get into it. Growing up, reading that part now makes me angry. I’m in a better place, and my mental health is improving more, I lost 20 pounds and I am currently taking classes to become a professional, character artist. I love undertale but the fandom gave me a lot of lingering mental health issues.
The idea that Frans was simply an elaborate reader x Sans ship in proxy through Frisk makes it a lot of sense. As Frisk is (imo) suppose to be a self-insert to some extent of the player, people (especially preteen girls) would ships themselves with Sans _through_ Frisk. I guess Sans was the "childhood crush" for a lot of girls.

@@nevaehhamilton3493 this feels a bit dramatic. undertale was a wild experience, sure, but i think people forget every popular fandom has notoriety like this. like homestuck, for example. put a shit ton of people in one community and things will go wrong. thats the long and the short of it. every fandom has its awful toxic side, you just dont hear about it nearly as often in tiny fandoms because theres less people. i been here since 2016, and while i have seen some shit, ive also met wonderful people and made irreplaceable memories. very few communities out there are completely toxic. dont get me wrong, if a community is harming your mental health then youre 100% free to leave if thats whats best for you. you can absolutely enjoy something without interacting with the fandom. but its not impossible to find like-minded people to surround yourself with within it. there were good people in this community back in 2016 and there still are now.

Something ironic for me is that I looked up "stronger than you" to relive some childhood memories and get hit with the nostalgia of a song I haven't heard in a long time and it's how I got introduced to undertale. Somebody did mention it to me in middle school but I didn't really care for or understand it then.
Regarding the stronger than you comments about it copying the parody cover of it, I'm 90% convinced that the majority of those were just saying it sarcastically because of how popular the parody cover was compared to the original (but then again it's hard to be sure considering how many of the old videos with the original song had their comments either disabled intentionally, or it got flagged as being YT kids and disabled automatically)

There were many people who actually thought Steven Universe copied Undertale fans because they had only seen the Undertale one and the several parodies of it. It makes sense at least to me that if something gets a parody, it’s likely the original but in this case the Undertale version spawned parodies of a parody.
The more I watch these kinds of videos, the more I realize how lucky I was to have a mostly positive experience within the Undertale fandom. Oh I'm also a french person who learned english thanks to the Undertale community. The french swearing made me laugh ^^'

Frans was absolutely everywhere for a certain period of time. I’m someone who formerly didn’t have a problem with a ship, but after joining the larger community, that’s when I generally stopped looking at comics of the ship and supporting it. These comics do still exist, although they’re acknowledged way less compared to before they died out now, you have to actively look for them nowadays.

God okay so I really do love UnderVerse, but the community is sooooo bad. Jakei does livestreams sometimes where she will animate live, and the chat is nothing but people yelling at her for not releasing a new episode fast enough??? And comments on every video her or Nyx make where they’re doing anything that isn’t related to UnderVerse are just filled with people being like “why aren’t you working on UnderVerse blah blah blah”. I’ve never even tried to join the discord because I’m so scared. I watch the stuff when it comes out but that’s it
I wrote a very long comment describing my experience as a veteran fan of this game. I grew up alongside the era you’re giving insight on but I’ll keep the details to myself, they left deep rooted trauma on me. I just wanted to say thank you for pushing on and enduring all of that. Not everyone can do it.
I Disagree, the modern fandom is just as if not worse than the old fandom solely because of how intolerant they've gotten to views/headcannons/theories/ideas that do not fit what the general conceptus is.

I described it as: if you ever wished to play undertale for the first time all over again… that's undertale yellow. the CHARACTERS, the HUMOR, the MUSIC, the ANIMATIONS, the LORE… everything is spot on! Andd… by the end of it you won't ever see the word ‘justice’ the same again (similar to determination lol)

This video made me realize I was in the TRENCHES as a kid. The Undertale fandom went so far away from the actual game that it's genuinely insane to me. This game meant so much to me for so long, even though I only got the game physically three years ago. It shaped who I was, and I still love it and Deltarune. I was in the good parts of the Fandom as well as the absolute worst parts. Thank you, Undertale Fandom, as horrible as you were sometimes, you made my childhood.

I think the Community has gotten a lot better over the years, or at least better enough so that the worst things I encountered when I firstly played Undertale in 2020 were frans, sanscest, and fontcest which isn't great, but there wasn't creepy age stuff in it (mostly) or the atrocities that are in Rouge's art, and there were very few encounters of the bad stuff between a bunch of good and wholesome artpieces. Plus I didn't experience nearly as much toxicity as when the fandom was in it's full bloom. It was actually rather welcoming, and somehow less toxic than the fandom I was in before.

It was just while seeing the Streamline Workshop video that it clicked on my head "Wait, you're right! That IS a crime/wrong" even thought it was obvious, growing up surrounded by people who'd normalize such behaviors didn't help me at all, it's crazy to me how i once thought S/A, sexual harassment, emotional blackmail and all of that shit between lovers was okay, seriously, what did the internet do to me????

I Joined the community quite late (post DR chapter 2) and I would say it’s gotten better since the early days. Like every fandom it’s got its downsides but as long as you stick in somewhat ok communities it’s not that bad. This fandom means a lot to me and it’s how I’ve made a lot of friends. :)
I’ve noticed some parallels between the old UnderTale fandom and the new Hazbin fandom. Mostly in the sense of really gross, weird sexual shit being normalized and consumed by kids/young teens. It’s really worrying honestly.
The way I understand all of this cuz I consumed it constantly up until 2018, no joke. Wild times. I remember and know everything all very well that even the usernames/yt channels/fan animations, songs and art showed in this video were like whiplash to when I was a kid in 2015 (n so on)…
Kinda of something that will sound like i'm making it up, but i had a old OC during my Undertale fandom time that was inspired by Frisk, and it's name was CLOVER, waaaayyyy before Undertale Yellow was a thing.

I was young too when I was pulled into the fandom. I love Undertale. I love Deltarune. And I just finished a Pacifist play-through of Undertale Yellow with my dad. I love the fandom’s creativity too! But there is a reason I stick to the fringes, aside from the fact that I don’t have the typical teenage socials. I vaguely remember PJ’s Daycare, but I remember being fully aware that what I was seeing was not ok and didn’t go searching for dubs after the whole Geno thing. I remember watching toxic fandom stories and hearing about terrible things people would do. I remember the discourse that occurred at my elementary’s recess. I was lucky in that I wasn’t exposed to too many things back then, as my parents made it clear what to avoid and I knew what I wanted to see. But it still effects how I interact with the fandom. For example: I’ve been working on an AU of my own-nothing too different from the game, just some lore add-ons, mainly in the human department-that I’ve been calling Battle Scars, after a song I heard that matches the vibe to a T, and I’m terrified to post the work I have for it. I’m gonna to anyway, but I can’t help worrying about potential backlash even though the reception to the snippets I’ve told on UA-cam have been positive…
Also, did anyone else know how Frisk’s skin color appears in fanworks is a heated debate? Because I didn’t until two weeks ago. It’s WILD. Why are we fighting about that, of all things?!
Me and my little brother play undertale/deltarune/yellow and all kind of fan games,the only thing that matters is that the games make us better persons and that we have fun with our loved ones.
honestly the depths of controversy was a lot worse than i was expecting i fell out of the fandom around the time people were making kids of unrelated fanmade characters, only keeping tabs on some really cool stuff like Yellow and Underverse while watching the video i thought the worst it was going to get was a creator or two saying that they didn't want their au sans to be reduced to shipping fodder and the fandom hivemind deciding to say "nuh uh" and take charge of the character, acting like the original owner didn't exist if i had known what was actually brewing around that time i'd probably have been sprinting out of the fandom instead of just slowly walking out with my belongings bundled up on the end of a stick

I usually like to think of the sans aus thingy as something super apart from the undertale fandom in general, because literally the same thing happens as with the oncelers, where it almost doesn't have anything related to the original game. They ship the character with one of their thousands of counterparts bc they can- They are- like- Isolated from the rest of the fandom, you can perfectly exist in the undertale fandom without even knowing that all of this exists if you don't get too involved in everything they do with sans-
I adore Undertale so much, i basically grew up with it haha. The community is horrifying though unfortunately, save for the music side of it. Which why i stay clear of most of it if it isn’t the musical part of the community 💀

I’d get so many comments either saying I was a girl and couldn’t sing as Frisk, tell me my choice of lyricism was incorrect, or just straight up be rude in my comments in super toxic fandom fashion. I wanted to create so much more for that fandom. But I didn’t, because although many people were nice, the dark parts of the fandom were so rude and obnoxious, I wasn’t willing to put myself through any more of it. Its hard to believe this is what I grew up watching... And I still love this community. Its been a joy to grow up alongside Undertale, watching it shed its edgy preteen parts and truly become the great respected piece of media it deserves to be. Despite how a lot of them were very... weird... I miss a lot of the old aus and still occasionally watch stuff about them. Getting together with the boys to watch the newest episode of Underverse is always a treat.
While I unfortunately did come across some Frans and Fontcest when Undertale was incredibly popular on the internet (I saw Frisk and Sans as friends/found family anyway, and was shocked to find out people wanted family to have a romantic relationship besides parents), I saw a lot more good from the fandom. Yes, it was no one’s place to decide how anyone plays the game, if every single playthough was the same, I wouldn’t be as interested in watching them/playing the game myself! Overall I love Undertale to this day and still revisit fan content like the flipnotes and played and enjoyed Undertale Yellow! No fandom is perfect but I yearn to make the most out of each experience I have with one. Very informative and entertaining video! I especially loved the editing and all of the ‘bear with me’s.

@@zelmo5683 I do agree that worse things have happened (and couldn't agree more on the account of Andy and Leyley), everyone has their own personal worst things alongside it all. What made Fontcest so bad to me was due to the fact that it was how I found out incest exists in the first place... Remembering it for a bit years later, the glowing everything is definitely more goofy and less off-putting than an initial (and accidental) view.

The Steven universe one is interesting as I remember being a fan of the show then. A lot of people hated it and derided it for no reason it could control, and misinformation. I remember seeing someone be corrected about where the song came from the person very angrily said Steven Universe wasn’t creative or quality enough for the song to have come from it. I don’t know if anyone convinced them otherwise but I remember grimacing at seeing that. This was during the “get rid of Connie, filler episodes are cringe” era. Glad we’re realizing the show is good now and the original song is a banger but man. That portion certainly awoke some memories
the video title is like, really misleading. the videos somewhat disjointed and unorganized, with a lot of "well get back to that later"... first couple minutes kinda work ("stronger than you" + markiplier are semi fair arguments) but it kinda just turns onto a drama summary that generalizes an entire community based off one persons horrible comic from years ago. the uty soundtrack argument doesnt even make sense, it was literally just some rich guy whining on twt and it was handeled well. it doesnt really show how the community is "foul", rather it shows that people are able to band together and make change when necessary. i get the arguments on fontcest and that weird comic, but a.) that represents probably less than a fifth of the community being generous, and b.) that stuff was only really "mainstream" around 2016~2019. its pretty disingenuous to generalize the entire community as being that when the majority is very against that stuff, and just enjoy creating content based off the game they love. theres much more toxic things that could have been brought up, the utc is far from perfect, but this video doesnt do the best job explaining whats wrong with the community now... it feels like this video was made in 2020 and just posted now. if the title is gonna be "undertale and its FOUL community", do more research into what makes it foul, instead of spending 30 of the 40 mins on a single persons shitty actions. id personally just rename the video "blogthegreatrouge and their TERRIBLE comic (+ misc undertale community shenanigans)" or something like that to better give viewers an understanding of what theyre watching. if the video was longer and expanded on more things in the community, the title would make much more sense.

The fact that PJ daycare actually had potential and was a cool idea but they decided to make it about shipping adult with child, hoke about pedophilia and racism or the suicide thing. It's just sad to see. But Rouge comics were my favourite when i was 11-12 which im glad i grew up now to see how messed up they were. Won't lie, I think the Undertale community is one of the few communities that actually got BETTER as the years went by. In the beginning it was SO BAADD. But overtime, in my experiences with it recently, it's gotten so much better and the toxicity isn't as bad or prevalent as it was before.
Of course you still got the bad sides. Every community always has its bad apples and sides to it. But a lot of us grew up and realized that the stuff we supported back then was just really damn weird and g r o s s. Me included. The community had me think a lot of things were okay when I was younger when they really weren't. Some of the comics, ships and characters? JESUS CHRIST.
I'm still glad I'm in the fandom though because I met a lot of amazing and wonderful people and friends

So just ignore that side of the fandom. You don't have to leave a fandom because of those people. Just enjoy the good side and have fun. Talk to people who are on the same side as you, make good fanart, play the games, and watch the animations. Saying "The Undertale community as a whole is horrible" is rude to the people who are actually on the good side. The bad side of a fandom can go kiss an on-coming train. Let yourself love what you love. And don't let anyone take it away from you.

I was in the undertale fandom from 2017 to around 2020 when fandom started to quiet down. It is still amazing that 3 years after the release i was able to joint a very active fandom. As a 11year old then i was so obsessed with the game and now it feels really nostalgic

My gosh, I remember this stuff when I was a kid. I used to ship Frans because i projected myself onto frisk because I had a crush on sans and thought the stuff rouge’s made was normal, (since it was treated as such and displayed as well). I’m so glad I grew up and realize how terrible these things were.
Seriously though, the undertale fandom was so sexual. Being exposed to these kind of things as a kid really messed me up. Age gaps, pedo and other stuff were exposed to me through that fandom, the way people in the fandom normalized that stuff.. it just puts me in a place of disbelief.
Just a little side note. As a depressed/suicidal kid back then, reading that part about Geno made me feel guilty and ignore my mental health issues. I don’t want to get into it. Growing up, reading that part now makes me angry. I’m in a better place, and my mental health is improving more, I lost 20 pounds and I am currently taking classes to become a professional, character artist.
I love undertale but the fandom gave me a lot of lingering mental health issues.
The idea that Frans was simply an elaborate reader x Sans ship in proxy through Frisk makes it a lot of sense. As Frisk is (imo) suppose to be a self-insert to some extent of the player, people (especially preteen girls) would ships themselves with Sans _through_ Frisk. I guess Sans was the "childhood crush" for a lot of girls.

@@nevaehhamilton3493 this feels a bit dramatic. undertale was a wild experience, sure, but i think people forget every popular fandom has notoriety like this. like homestuck, for example. put a shit ton of people in one community and things will go wrong. thats the long and the short of it. every fandom has its awful toxic side, you just dont hear about it nearly as often in tiny fandoms because theres less people.
i been here since 2016, and while i have seen some shit, ive also met wonderful people and made irreplaceable memories. very few communities out there are completely toxic. dont get me wrong, if a community is harming your mental health then youre 100% free to leave if thats whats best for you. you can absolutely enjoy something without interacting with the fandom. but its not impossible to find like-minded people to surround yourself with within it. there were good people in this community back in 2016 and there still are now.

Something ironic for me is that I looked up "stronger than you" to relive some childhood memories and get hit with the nostalgia of a song I haven't heard in a long time and it's how I got introduced to undertale. Somebody did mention it to me in middle school but I didn't really care for or understand it then.

Regarding the stronger than you comments about it copying the parody cover of it, I'm 90% convinced that the majority of those were just saying it sarcastically because of how popular the parody cover was compared to the original (but then again it's hard to be sure considering how many of the old videos with the original song had their comments either disabled intentionally, or it got flagged as being YT kids and disabled automatically)

There were many people who actually thought Steven Universe copied Undertale fans because they had only seen the Undertale one and the several parodies of it. Frans was absolutely everywhere for a certain period of time. I’m someone who formerly didn’t have a problem with a ship, but after joining the larger community, that’s when I generally stopped looking at comics of the ship and supporting it.
These comics do still exist, although they’re acknowledged way less compared to before they died out now, you have to actively look for them nowadays.
The whole fanbase is less active

I wrote a very long comment describing my experience as a veteran fan of this game. I grew up alongside the era you’re giving insight on but I’ll keep the details to myself, they left deep rooted trauma on me. I just wanted to say thank you for pushing on and enduring all of that. Not everyone can do it.

This video made me realize I was in the TRENCHES as a kid. The Undertale fandom went so far away from the actual game that it's genuinely insane to me. This game meant so much to me for so long, even though I only got the game physically three years ago. It shaped who I was, and I still love it and Deltarune. I think the Community has gotten a lot better over the years,
or at least better enough so that the worst things I encountered when I firstly played Undertale in 2020 were frans, sanscest, and fontcest which isn't great, but there wasn't creepy age stuff in it (mostly) or the atrocities that are in Rouge's art,
and there were very few encounters of the bad stuff between a bunch of good and wholesome artpieces.

I was one of her victims, i didn't even know what tumblr was bc i was 5-8 yo, not kidding, i'd see censored comicdubs in youtube, i also thought the behaviors presented in BlogthegreatRouge's comic were normal, like the Errorink relationship you mentioned, Goth and Palette's comic, gosh even some of the P words.
It was just while seeing the Streamline Workshop video that it clicked on my head "Wait, you're right! That IS a crime/wrong" even thought it was obvious, growing up surrounded by people who'd normalize such behaviors didn't help me at all, it's crazy to me how i once thought S/A, sexual harassment, emotional blackmail and all of that shit between lovers was okay, seriously, what did the internet do to me????

I Joined the community quite late (post DR chapter 2) and I would say it’s gotten better since the early days. Like every fandom it’s got its downsides but as long as you stick in somewhat ok communities it’s not that bad. This fandom means a lot to me and it’s how I’ve made a lot of friends. :)
I’ve noticed some parallels between the old UnderTale fandom and the new Hazbin fandom. Mostly in the sense of really gross, weird sexual shit being normalized and consumed by kids/young teens. It’s really worrying honestly.
The way I understand all of this cuz I consumed it constantly up until 2018, no joke. Wild times. I remember and know everything all very well that even the usernames/yt channels/fan animations, songs and art showed in this video were like whiplash to when I was a kid in 2015 (n so on)…

Kinda of something that will sound like i'm making it up, but i had a old OC during my Undertale fandom time that was inspired by Frisk, and it's name was CLOVER, waaaayyyy before Undertale Yellow was a thing.
The moment you mentioned that one user name i immediately got goosebumps and started to roll on the ground because of the overwhelming guilt I feel for thinking that those stuff were how relationships worked and other more stuff that I wish I have never watched as a kid but you showing how many were the people that were in the same as me actually made me feel better that I’m not alone in this messed up thing thanks

I was young too when I was pulled into the fandom. I love Undertale. I love Deltarune. And I just finished a Pacifist play-through of Undertale Yellow with my dad. I love the fandom’s creativity too! But there is a reason I stick to the fringes, aside from the fact that I don’t have the typical teenage socials.
I vaguely remember PJ’s Daycare, but I remember being fully aware that what I was seeing was not ok and didn’t go searching for dubs after the whole Geno thing. I remember watching toxic fandom stories and hearing about terrible things people would do. I remember the discourse that occurred at my elementary’s recess. I was lucky in that I wasn’t exposed to too many things back then, as my parents made it clear what to avoid and I knew what I wanted to see. But it still effects how I interact with the fandom. For example: I’ve been working on an AU of my own-nothing too different from the game, just some lore add-ons, mainly in the human department-that I’ve been calling Battle Scars, after a song I heard that matches the vibe to a T, and I’m terrified to post the work I have for it. I’m gonna to anyway, but I can’t help worrying about potential backlash even though the reception to the snippets I’ve told on UA-cam have been positive…
Also, did anyone else know how Frisk’s skin color appears in fanworks is a heated debate?
Because I didn’t until two weeks ago. It’s WILD. Why are we fighting about that, of all things?!

i fell out of the fandom around the time people were making kids of unrelated fanmade characters, only keeping tabs on some really cool stuff like Yellow and Underverse
while watching the video i thought the worst it was going to get was a creator or two saying that they didn't want their au sans to be reduced to shipping fodder and the fandom hivemind deciding to say "nuh uh" and take charge of the character, acting like the original owner didn't exist
if i had known what was actually brewing around that time i'd probably have been sprinting out of the fandom instead of just slowly walking out with my belongings bundled up on the end of a stick

Dudeeee it was Insane at the start, I ended up leaving for two years back during Covid when I was in 8th grade, but was slowly pulled in again and it’s been one of the most nice and comforting communities I’ve been in now, the improvement is amazing. I feel like the community grew up along side me now that I’m an adult

I usually like to think of the sans aus thingy as something super apart from the undertale fandom in general, because literally the same thing happens as with the oncelers, where it almost doesn't have anything related to the original game. They ship the character with one of their thousands of counterparts bc they can-
They are- like- Isolated from the rest of the fandom, you can perfectly exist in the undertale fandom without even knowing that all of this exists if you don't get too involved in everything they do with sans-

I adore Undertale so much, i basically grew up with it haha. The community is horrifying though unfortunately, save for the music side of it. Which why i stay clear of most of it if it isn’t the musical part of the community 💀
Creator of the popular spin off video of Stronger Than You “Frisks Lament” here! Can confirm the fandom chased me off from even creating anything regarding this series. I’d get so many comments either saying I was a girl and couldn’t sing as Frisk, tell me my choice of lyricism was incorrect, or just straight up be rude in my comments in super toxic fandom fashion.
I wanted to create so much more for that fandom. But I didn’t, because although many people were nice, the dark parts of the fandom were so rude and obnoxious, I wasn’t willing to put myself through any more of it.

Its hard to believe this is what I grew up watching... And I still love this community. Its been a joy to grow up alongside Undertale, watching it shed its edgy preteen parts and truly become the great respected piece of media it deserves to be. Despite how a lot of them were very... weird... I miss a lot of the old aus and still occasionally watch stuff about them. Getting together with the boys to watch the newest episode of Underverse is always a treat.

While I unfortunately did come across some Frans and Fontcest when Undertale was incredibly popular on the internet (I saw Frisk and Sans as friends/found family anyway, and was shocked to find out people wanted family to have a romantic relationship besides parents), I saw a lot more good from the fandom.
Yes, it was no one’s place to decide how anyone plays the game, if every single playthough was the same, I wouldn’t be as interested in watching them/playing the game myself!
Overall I love Undertale to this day and still revisit fan content like the flipnotes and played and enjoyed Undertale Yellow! No fandom is perfect but I yearn to make the most out of each experience I have with one.

Fontcest is not so bad, there are worse things in the fandom than to have siblings be in a relationship. I mean just look at The Coffin of Andy and Leyley, the people don't have any problem with the siblings incest in that game because it's Fiction and there are far worse things, but in here people are so sure to be against Fontcest, ignoring the things the community does. In short, hypocrisy.

The Steven universe one is interesting as I remember being a fan of the show then. A lot of people hated it and derided it for no reason it could control, and misinformation. I remember seeing someone be corrected about where the song came from the person very angrily said Steven Universe wasn’t creative or quality enough for the song to have come from it. I don’t know if anyone convinced them otherwise but I remember grimacing at seeing that. This was during the “get rid of Connie, filler episodes are cringe” era. Glad we’re realizing the show is good now and the original song is a banger but man. That portion certainly awoke some memories
the video title is like, really misleading. the videos somewhat disjointed and unorganized, with a lot of "well get back to that later"...
first couple minutes kinda work ("stronger than you" + markiplier are semi fair arguments) but it kinda just turns onto a drama summary that generalizes an entire community based off one persons horrible comic from years ago.
the uty soundtrack argument doesnt even make sense, it was literally just some rich guy whining on twt and it was handeled well. it doesnt really show how the community is "foul", rather it shows that people are able to band together and make change when necessary.
i get the arguments on fontcest and that weird comic, but a.) that represents probably less than a fifth of the community being generous, and b.) that stuff was only really "mainstream" around 2016~2019. its pretty disingenuous to generalize the entire community as being that when the majority is very against that stuff, and just enjoy creating content based off the game they love.
theres much more toxic things that could have been brought up, the utc is far from perfect, but this video doesnt do the best job explaining whats wrong with the community now... it feels like this video was made in 2020 and just posted now.
if the title is gonna be "undertale and its FOUL community", do more research into what makes it foul, instead of spending 30 of the 40 mins on a single persons shitty actions. id personally just rename the video "blogthegreatrouge and their TERRIBLE comic (+ misc undertale community shenanigans)" or something like that to better give viewers an understanding of what theyre watching. if the video was longer and expanded on more things in the community, the title would make much more sense.

The fact that PJ daycare actually had potential and was a cool idea but they decided to make it about shipping adult with child, hoke about pedophilia and racism or the suicide thing. It's just sad to see. But Rouge comics were my favourite when i was 11-12 which im glad i grew up now to see how messed up they were. Actually now that i think about it most of their comics were about romanticizing SA.
