Grand Budapest may be the best film he's done to date, I think I can agree with that, and I enjoy it, but my favorite is Moonrise Kingdom. I'm also one of the weirdos who loved The Life Aquatic way more than other people seemed to have. I really appreciate The Royal Tenenbaums because it was still rough around the edges, and he hadn't fully gone OCD about everything yet. I feel like after The Grand Budapest Hotel, he let everything go to his head and now he thinks he can't do wrong. Isle of Dogs was a letdown. The French Dispatch was actually quite awful. Visually, Wes Anderson's stuff is kind of the opposite of Stanley Kubrick in terms of camera work. In A Clockwork Orange by Kubrick, there are images feel like they could be cells from a graphic novel, but he moves from fluidly from one iconic image to the next. Wes likes to sit on images conspicuously, and then pan to the next.

  • @schmuck.on.wheels

This is one of my all time favorite movies, can't count how many times I've seen it. One of the best uses of an ensemble cast I've ever seen, incredible score, production design, and camera work a great clash of elegance and more modern brashness in the dialogue, and so so funny. It's always crazy to me, for how much it feels like a live action cartoon at times, how sentimental and heartfelt it is at its core, especially in the last stretch of the movie.
Also regarding Bill Murray and Owen Wilson having such small roles, they're both longtime friends and collaborators of Wes Anderson and tend to have at least a cameo in his films. Murray has been in every one of his films except his first, and Wilson was actually Wes's college roommate, and co-wrote his first 3 movies with him.

36:04 “Why is he here?” Well, it’s a Wes Anderson movie, so of course Owen Wilson’s there…

Please oh please do Fantastic Mr Fox. One of Wes Andersons best films in my opinion! I find more amazing details and humour every time I watch it

What a brilliant reaction for an amazing movie. I hope you'll check out more of Anderson's work, especially Moonrise Kingdom... lots of recurring actors across all of his films

    I love this movie!!!
When you think about the history within a history, this based-inspiration movie tells us about Stefan Zweig's life. An austrian writer/poet that flees from nazi-fascism europe in pre-WW2. Exiled here, in Brazil, even among all nature, beauty, love and good life, he can't stand the missing feeling from his homeland and commited suicide.
A warmheart movie for a sad real history. I think that theres a lesson here to be learned...

If there’s any Paul Thomas Anderson films you have not seen, PLEASE give some of his stuff a watch. I absolutely love Magnolia, Punch drunk love, Boogie nights, hard eight and There will be blood, he has a few other films that are much slower but equally brilliant!

I love all of Wes Anderson's work. This movie to me is peak Wes Anderson in all aspects; the style, the script, the acting, the comedy, the pacing, everything just works so well.

What's funny is they replaced boy with apple with an egon schiele piece hahahaha. Egon Schiele was a student of gustav klimt (i think) and his work is valuable in modern times at least.

This is one of my favorite movies, and most definitely my favorite Wes Anderson movie! Also, the painting that gets hung up to replace the Boy With Apple was by an artist named Egon Schiele :)

This is one pf my favorite movies. I love the little eccentricities Anderson puts in his movies like how everyone speaks so frankly and matter of factly. Or that everyone is emotionally repressed but then they fight like children
