  • Today we add in an abandoned station, which is now my new favorite area, before working our way down to the actual end of track. The end is near!

Sorry for the underscore with the lyrics! I didn't even notice until playing it back just now. Will be better about that in 2019.

Here is my story for the abandoned factory
That used to be a soda pop bottling facility back in the 40s and 50s. The railroad would take away the bottles in cushion cars. There was a decent sized town there with hot passenger trains coming into the busy station. People would come also to see the waterfalls. In the early 60s, a passenger train wrecked into the creek, killing 7 and injuring many more. This caused a great decline the passenger service. In the mid 60s, the bottling facility closed its doors for good. The tourists didn’t come anymore. The last passenger train came in the late 70s. The last people moved away in the early 80s, and it became a ghost town. The DBEV let the area fall into disrepair, as they saw no need for the tracks and station anymore. Now, it sits abandoned. Some say you can still here the old steam whistle off in the distance, a reminder of what once was.

Growing up in Milwaukee, I know what you mean about old tracks. Where I live, they're all over the place. I even live a couple blocks from an entire rail yard that is mostly abandoned. Iv'e seen several abandoned tracks that come out of nowhere, go over a road, and then disappear.

Beautiful and awesome as always! Love it!
May I suggest a little trackside scene somewhere? You could have a couple derailed cars, either with maintenance guys and cranes around to salvage, or just left in place, abandoned and buried by the soil over time. With invisible track and superelevation you can make them look buried and flipped.

Oh man, Approach. This episode hits home to me as well. There is a stretch of track that used to run through Sauk City, WI and Prairie Du Sac, WI, with a really cool old railroad trestle that used to span over the Wisconsin River. The last time the tracks saw service was 1999, and the middle span of the bridge was blown apart with dynamite in 2002. The bridge looked exactly like the abandoned bridge in this video for many years, until this past spring when it was finally removed. I absolutely LOVE your passion for the abandoned / overgrown out of service railroads, as I am very passionate myself. I cannot wait to recreate the Sauk bridge scene!!

I think it'd be really cool to put in a wye there at the end where those two tracks separate. Just an idea. The route looks awesome so far!

What I used to see stored along unused tracks in the 80s and 90s along the Youngstown and Southern was a lot of boxcars. I believe most were Y&S boxcars, but there were others, as well as old gondolas. Lots of them were destined, eventually for the torch (there is a company that does that along the line), but not all. I know it started out as car storage at first. I don't know, maybe other short lines did the same thing?

Hi... I just got Trainz 2019 and trying to build something....HOW do I get the mouse to navigate over the map? For example: when I want to build a road, I like to continue the road by bumping the pointer to the edge of the screen and hereby navigating over the map..
