tax credit change is MAJOR for me. as i am retired, live frugally and have little tax liability from year to year. in fact, because a model costs less than the federal long-term capital gains tax (my major tax liability from year to year) i can take advantage of the entire federal incentive, making the model three about a 33,000 car. oh yeah! now i can justify splurging on a RED one. :)

Unions in Europe are a lot different then It's counterpart in Usa, I feel. First of most workers, blue and white collar, are unionized in Europe. I think the numbers are close to 70 percent. And inleast Sweden unions work with the company and many times work to keep salaries down our at reasonable levels so that the company survives. It's a bit different for smaller companies with less then lets say 20 employees where the demands for unions could be rough.

They seem to share intellectual dishonesty with the UAW here, in view of their fabricated claims about Tesla in many instances. When there's dishonesty, corruption closely follows.
Another glimpse of this corruption is in VW's recent news regarding hiring Brazilian prostitutes for some high ranking members of the union membership.
It's a bit concerning, it seems the heads of such organizations may sometimes be in it for themselves rather than the members under their umbrellas.

So if the EV rebates are offered at the 'dealership' (or whatever Tesla's equivalence is - potentially the website?) wouldn't that also be a huge reduction in registration fees? In CA I believe it is the sales tax which is at least 7.25% with some cities over 10%. So on a $7500 rebate/reduction in the price that would save $750. Please correct or confirm if anyone is in the know! Thank you!!

    • @tneper

Here in the UK government subsidies have always been channelled through the car dealer, back in 2021 when I bought my MG MG5 (station wagon) I received £3000.00 from the government, £4000.00 from MG (SAIC) as an incentive + £1000.00 for my trade in car, which meant that the car cost me £22000.00. On top of that as I live in Scotland I was able to apply for & receive an interest FREE loan of £12.500.00. The remainder came from my savings.

This news on the ev tax credit helps so much. I was wondering how the pos credit will workout without direct interface with the irs database. This answers it..a bit old school execution..but its something.
The next question is which Tesla will use qualifying batteries...to get the full 7500 still.
The LFP is from China..so maybe not that one? The standard range I guess will use those..and maybe the new long range as well? I think there was mention that LG Will supply the long range battery pack?.. Will the performance use 2170 from panisonic or LG..will those packs qualify? I think the lithium for those comes from Australia..who does have a free trade agreement in place..then there is that rule under the IRA about pack and percentages..
Great news all around. Ty so much.

Rob already said there’s no such thing as an EV market so he doesn’t get it. Gary Black gets it. He keeps tweeting about educating potential customers which is an excellent marketing tool especially for a disruptive product like EVs. The best marketing tool I can think of for Tesla is to offer free in home charging installations instead of price reductions. It’s very common for people to not bother with a properly installed and permitted level 2 charger. They just live with the limited power of a standard outlet. Tesla should think of the charging network as including all the residences throughout the world. Imagine a family who isn’t considering EVs for their next purchase, moves into a home with level 2 chargers already on the wall. If that causes them to consider an EV, that’s an EV market expansion.
