It seems that Caster not just wanted to return to home, but find a place that she could call home, someone she could trust to, and in the end, she found it in Kuzuki.
Rho Aias is based on Trojan War legend, shield covered with several layers of skin carried by Ajax, one of Greek heroes. Myth says, that this shield was the only thing that could stop spear thrown by Trojan hero Hector, so it got concept of anti-projectile defence, that`s whay Archer was so surprised when he realised that it wasn`t enough against Lancer

Kuzuki and Caster's relationship is very Asian husband and wife. They got together because of circumstances and eventually fell in love with each other. Kuzuki doesn't understand his feelings.
Archer's reasoning revealed in this episode for breaking his pact with Rin:
-He needed to catch Caster off-guard and weakened. His fight with lancer provided both, as he drained caster's mana by being her servant and fighting, while simultaneously she was distracted in her own fight while thinking Archer was busy fighting Lancer.
-He wanted to break his pact with Rin to be able to go against her commands. It seems his reasons involve killing Shiro.
Besides this I won't say to avoid spoiling.

My biggest issue with these latest episodes is that every one of them have a scene I'm anticipating the reaction to, and I have to wait for the next ones to release
Kuzuki fighting Archer with the perception of reality completely distorted xD.
Archer was surprised by Lancer Noble Phantasm because Rho Aias (Shield) is the most powerful shield in Fateuniverse.
Looks like Archer is still a mystery)
Unfortunately anime glazes over a lot of deatails of Kuzukis backstory and as a result it's pretty hard to understand what the heck is he trying to say......but to summarize what happend to him is that he was raised SOLELY to kill one person and after doing so he had to kill himself.The organization taugth him only one tehnique whitch is "snake" and this organization actually might be the same one that raised Maya but since she had magic circuit's she wasn't expandable and there is also a detail that was skipped in Fate zero anime that she was "used" to produce more soldier's with magic circuit's.......and as a result she even had a son that will be an important character in another fate series but i won't tell whitch one in order not to spoil the fun.......
I can't believe this guy hasn't figured out who archer is at this point 😂
