This channel is so great. I've watched so many reviews about board games and they all left me without a conclusion if I should buy a certain game or not. This is the very first channel that gives me 100% confidence to choose my next purchase. So thank you for that!
Love this game. Played it for the first time two weeks ago and voted for it to be ran though. This game deserves way more attention than it is getting!
Just thought of a Rahdo Drinking game! Every time Richard (Rahdo) covers his right eye, have a shot of your favorite beverage! We love ya Rahdo, keep up the good work!
Wow, there is a lot going on here! I can see how the negotiation would really come alive with more players, but it's neat how it still comes into play with just you and Jen. I understand there is a Solo Play expansion for this...have you tried it?
Love your videos. How do you film them? What kind of camera do you use? Are you using a Go Pro? I wanted to point out the rules say that water tiles touch water, fields touch fields, and mountains touch mountains. You state their are jungles, but there are only three types of terrain, so Jen would have been able to explore.
I appreciate these videos, and they explain a lot better than a basic review what's actually involved. But I can't help feeling that if you took it a bit slower and didn't keep getting things wrong and going back, the video might be clearer and more concise overall. Also since its a one take video it's quite a feat! But maybe a couple of cuts could help, even just between turns etc or rounds
thanks for the feedback, but basically i don't have the equipment that i would need to be able to do much (or any) editing... Just a very low power netbook... :(
At the point I'm at in the video, you forgot to increase unemployed population when you did explore actions, and you forgot to collect taxes from the boat.
I missed what happens if the black dude reaches/passes the white dude (revolt). What happens? Why would players worry about revolt? Or the old-world demands?
i mentioned it at 29:20 - revolt triggers an instant end game where EVERYBODY loses, so its in no one's interest to have that happen (unless you happened to secretly be the sympathizer role)
***** Thanks. Are you still liking this game? I am thinking of grabbing. Hits on all cylinders for me. I like exploration, negotiation, secret objectives and meatier games.
chuckm1961 actually i think i mentioned in the final thoughts that the game wasn't a keeper for us because the "aggressive negotiation" was too much for jen :)
I am big fan of your reviews as they truly let me see what the out of box experience is going to be like, BUT this one was rough to watch. All the back and forth trying to remember what you can do/need to etc made it some what confusing. Keep plugging a way at it though!
Nick Clinite the unrest meter is a broad abstraction that indicates that the colony is going to fail. a lot of it has to do with unrest amongst the populace, so the more you piss them off, the closer you are to rebellion, but also, if you lose the support of the old world, you'll be closer to failing because the old world won't help you supress rebellion, and if your colonists become too demoralized and decide to head back home, again, again, rebellion will come about more quickly...
it's not a tutorial video. it's a video intending to demonstarte what it feels like to play the game, and evaluating the wealth of choices available to players is a what boardgameplay is all about...

That foot-shaped sea monster lurking below the surface adds a lot of verisimilitude to the vid. Nice touch.

Thanks for all these videos , friend. Really opened my eyes on games that wont even be on my radar (like all Euros lol)
This is a fun game, but it is *not* an easy one to explain! You've done a good job with this video. Thanks for posting!
Great, great runthrough so far. Thank you very much. :)
At, 22:00 why couldn't she put either explored tile on the right-hand side of her current tile?
Nick Clinite a new tile has to be placed adjacent to 2 other tiles
***** Aha!

oops, if you can give me a time stamp for that i'll add notes to the video! :)
The first exploration was at 22:20. The second exploration is around 25:00. Tax is around 29:00
Christopher Schock awesome, thanks. adding notes now :)

theres a secret objective for a player to win alone if workers revolt. the game is more balance if you play them with 3 to 5 players.

Toes!!!!!!
foot
Really don't want to look at someone's bare feet whilst learning a game 🤢🤮
I am not understanding the themes of this game; why are unhappy colonials or unhappy old world raising the unrest of the indigenous people?

so much time wasted being indecisive, its a tutorial video just make a damn choice and keep explaining the game.

@@rahdo lol ok bud, btw is exploration a gamble, i'm not sure you mentioned it enough times...
