I've loved the shape of the 904 ever since it came out, very beautiful.
There’s one really bad thing about this video: it is SHORT.
Pls, upload full run. Pls, pls, pls, pls, pls...
Just as you get comfortable watching the 904 try to break a Mustang, it ends...
It's BS and a waste of upload space and everyone's time.
I'm tired of Goodwood clips... They'll call when the hillclimb is on.
I'm sure that's a GT350. It's no slouch in the corners, but I have to admit it's a bit of a culture shock to see a Mustang much more tight and locked down through the corner than a Porsche.
Theres a reason why more and more muscle cars are attending track days rather than drag meets :P
@@hybridShinx there's just a default feeling/response when you hear those names. Even the corvette isn't safe from the stereotype unfortunately. im personally tired of the "it cant turn" mentality. its wonderful to see the contrary in this video
I think the Porsche simply couldn't get the launch he needed off the corners.
Not enough grunt (torque) to pull it off.
It's classic battle of brute force verses superb handling.
Sure is fun to watch, though.
@@corvettez06usa same here
@@corvettez06usa because most can't........ During the early 70s the 911 was dominating IMSA and trans am for years with half the power compared to a trans am boss 302 or greenwood Corvette..... The original mustang was very small and that made it more competitive vs the bigger 67 fastback. Pete brock or shelby? Was pretty annoyed as to how big the mustang got in 67. The original mustang was a european touring car champion and won a good number of rallys...I'm not really shocked by the performance here...... although it does have rear leaf springs with a solid axle..........
904 faz o Mustang parecer um SUV, coisa linda
Pure gold!
Expected the Porsche to win the battle only to be surprised that the Mustang run so well that it even take over Cobra.
The Porsche 904 have only 2 liter with about 185 hp in the racing version... never forget about it.
@@lacingfan
Sure. But it probably weighs about half as much as the 'stang.
Choose you poison.
@@richarddarlington1139, light weight is only an advantage in the excelleration, a little bit in braking and the curves. The 904 is a very beautiful racecar, but not a very competitive against bigger machines. Even with the late r 8cyl-machine ...
@@lacingfan
First of all, it's "acceleration," not "excelleration."
If you'll notice in the video, the Mustang could not gap the Porsche.
That 904 was on his ass the whole time.
Sure fun to watch, though. Wouldn't you agree?
Had it been Jim Clark at the wheel of the 904 instead of David Clark the result might have been different. It took a 427 Ford to beat Jim and his Lotus Cortina in the BTCC.
I always thought it would be cool to restomod a 904
Wheres the 1st Gen Skyline GTR ? Didnt anyone remember it was rivaled against the 904 as well ?
The GTR debuted in '69 the Porsche in '63. The race is for pre 66 GT cars.
@@oldlud8971 but the Skyline GT first appeared in 63-64 too
STOPPPPP THE FKKNN CHATTER-WACKY!!!!!!
That TVR totally cut off the 904!!!
The writeup above mentioned the 904 had a flat 6. Porsche 904 was a 4 cylinder powered version....the 6 cylinder version was the 906. You can tell them apart externally as the scoops behind the driver and passenger windows were longer on the 906 version than the 904. I always loved the 904s....that and the ALFA TZ1 were the dream cars of my teen years. I went with ALFA for my cars though but would take either one of these ex race cars....if I could afford them.
904s were fitted with both flat-four and flat-six engines. Most flat-four, but several in 1965 with a six.
@@GoodwoodRR Wasn't it referred to as the 904-6?
The 906 was a completely different car. The 904 was able to use 4. 6 or 8 cyl. Two examples with 8 cyl were built. The larger engined cars did have the larger "elephant ear" intakes. The 906 had a different chassis construction and body shape.
I do not think that Porsche was set up correctly.
May have gotten the tires hot tossing it around like that.
Too much fun!
I get it mate, a Cobra pulled off the track. Now stop talking about that and look at what is happening on our screens.
This is the LITERALLY the same footage we watched earlier, you shysters, lol. Quit it.
👍👍👍😎😎😎
Or suffer.
