If only we had a system, where facts could be gathered and presented, before rendering punishment
In the eyes of the public it’s guilty til proven innocent
You can't fault the Bills or any team for cutting him. No one will have a player on the team with an active r*pe investigation. It's really on the criminal justice system to get that done as quickly as possible. Had SD police investigated this in a timely manner then maybe dude is still on the Bills. The media found out about this last summer bc the "victim" filed a civil suit because the criminal investigation had stalled. Had SD done what they needed to do from the start, the investigation finds out he (and the other SDSU football players that were also accused) had left the party before the alleged attack happened, it's a non-story. There's no civil suit. And we probably don't even know about this. Araiza will probably be invited to some team's training camp. But if I'm him, I'm looking at my options for suing the city. The victim too, but I doubt that's as lucrative. If you can't investigate an underage gang r*pe in a timely manner, what are you doing with your time? It's San Diego, I doubt they had a ton of more serious crimes than this on their plate.
I’ve got a friend going through the system right now, already out 100k. Was originally brought in on 3 chargers and 2 have already been dropped. He won’t get bail money back for that. It’s a fucking racquet
It’s called wishing in 1 hand and deficating in the other. We already know your gonna need a 100 gallon drum your deficating in because of excessive overflow.
Fuck that let's all hop on the mob train Choo Choo
The fact that the media can report on these stories without any fact checking on their own should make them liable.
Guilty till proven innocent in the media eyes
there probably are laws like this but there's probably tons of loopholes for these oiece of shits to not get sued.
like saying "according to a confidential witness, so and so"
Even if they thought it was true… for them to have video and to not return and tell the truth and clean it up is crazy.
Exactly! They never apologize or retract their story!
I mean, they absolutely can and should report on any criminal charges. That's newsworthy. It's the allegations without charges that need to be better vetted.
Just remember the duke lacrosse team almost 20 years later...Never got an apology from the school.

The saddest part of this whole thing is that false accusations like this make it harder for legit victims to be believed/heard. There truly are no winners in this.
I was about to say that. Future victims are going to be treated worse because of situations like these and as a result fewer will want to step up out of fear of people calling them a liar/attention seeker. While the situation affected Matt Araiza, its largest effect still has yet to fully take place
People have been saying that forever but it doesn't seem to be true. Every guy that is accused is still seen as guilty until proven innocent.

I am a retired cop. I dealt with rape victims. It's devastating and the victims never fully recovered. But for the "Believe All Women" people, you are wrong. There are many many many women that have absolutely no problem with lying about being attacked or raped.
It could be any woman too. Not even a stereotype. Some ppl just evil
How can we fix this? I understand the problem with todays “woke” culture, but this is disgraceful… These men having their lives ruined off of women lying (and I’m sure some men have done this to women no doubt). We need out politicians to actually bring attention to this… I mean women are doing this to other women. Look at that poor UVA student , Morgan Bettinger, whose life was ruined off of a damn lie by this race hoax activist “Zyahna Bryant”… Zero consequences thus far for Zyahna… These people need to face harsh, life ruining consequences for their actions… Ridiculous
Absolutely. Women lie men lie
I was a direct witness to female on male DV. The woman immediately started saying she was attacked after she realized she had gone too far. I hold onto the evidence of that attack to this day.
Police officer here too. It’s disgusting how many allegations are completely fabricated. There are lots of reasons they make it up…getting caught with another dude, money, revenge, etc. I’ve been to several where teenage girls say they were raped because they were ditching school and didn’t want their parents to know.
In general it is very difficult to find the truth in sexual assault investigations, and when they’re lying even more so. Not to mention discrediting actual victims.
Thank you for not being wrecklessly irresponsible like other youtubers trying to snag clout for clicks. A man's life was forever altered.
I've only watched Flemlo and Perna's take on this, both were 💯
Y’all always are much. More concerned with a dudes perception than a woman post rape. Very cute
@@avacadomangobanana2588 this video is not about that woman. Nice try.
@@hurricanestarang I did not like Perna's take on this story. When the story first broke, he shit on Matt and constantly made jokes at his expense. Sure, at the time, people thought he was guilty but Perna has a tendency to run with stuff like that for comedy material.
However, his video reporting this new version of the story came off more......insincere. He didn't apologize for his jokes, he still didn't really treat Matt with much respect and you could tell he was still treating the girl with kid gloves and not really saying she should be reprimanded for this because he is still showing some sympathy for her.
His whole video had a whole "Well......might have got this wrong.....my bad" vibe to it than what Flemlo does, who brings genuine heart and honesty to the discussion and also shows respect to Matt, who is the actual victim in this, and not just still trying to find sympathy for the female responsible.
Perna's take was kind of garbage. A lot of his comments section was calling him out for it. I heard Tree's Twitter response was far more nuanced and better but Perna's video felt like it was made because he HAD to make it because the original story was wrong and he ragged on the dude but Flemlo is the superior take.
That's why I'd rather go to Flemlo for serious sports stories like this than someone like Perna. I still love Perna's show and his channel......just thought he was disingenuous about this story.

I have to disagree. She’ll be remembered as the woman who falsely accused a man of rape
I've been saying this for years. Anyone who falsely accuses another of rape or sexual assault should serve the same length of time in prison as the defendant would if he or she were found guilty.
Yup. Been saying the same thing. But to them, there can NEVER be enough ways to screw over men in this day and age. It's such an evil system.
The damage to reputation is more important in my opinion. We live in a world where perception is more important than reality. The way people think of you will follow you around forever even if it isn't true.
it's true. I was false accused in high school and had detectives asking me questions at school. Everyone thought I raped this chick. Not a bills fan, but this was a big story, and I remember how fast people were to write him off. Its crazy to me how people react so confidently to a guilty verdict based off of some vague news articles and whatnot. Also big respect for reporting stuff like this, Flem.
I think I usually don't judge people before the facts come out, but with Matt Araiza's case the first time I heard about it was in context with the Bills dropping him. I just assumed the claims were true, chocked it up to a dumb college kid ruining his life, and moved on. I feel awful with this case now given if I hadn't of watched this video, 100% I would have lived on thinking Matt Araiza was guilty, and if I had ever seen him play, I would have assumed it was just a Deshaun Watson type situation. It's easy to forget that when you hear about cases like this in passing that you often don't take the time to think or hear more about the situation and just jump to whatever conclusion was fed to you. Absolutely sucks.
I'm a Bills fan, and I regret jumping on the "dump him" bandwagon. There seemed to be so much detail that no halfway reasonable person would make that up.
Lesson learned, the world is full of people who aren't halfway reasonable.
The news articles I saw weren’t vague. They went all out trashing him, even doing an interview with her where they blurred out her face and talk about how he should have never been drafted.
Pathetic
People enjoy making up stories about other people (mostly very bad stories). I have lived this in the past, and I am not, and never was even close to being famous, or rich.

Considering that when these cases first break the standard defense is l “hoes is lying” I really don’t think it matters too much either way whether or not the woman lies since that’s what ppl wanna believe in the first place.
i really dont understand the "makes it harder for real victims" talk.......the fact that we have seen multiple men get their lives ruined over false rape allegations, that makes that saying false
because law enforcement whether intentionally or not isnt doing enough to keep women from lying men either raped them, abused or was molesting kids
I've witnessed this in college twice!!! It's disgusting and both times the girls were lying. And they had no consequences for their lying. To sum it up both felt like sl**s after the night of partying and their bfs found out and then they rang they were R worded .. both times the women were the ones pushing for the encounters .. ruined each of those players college careers
Man this happens to regular people too…and the accuser walks away in the sunset and the person is left with a life long black eye!
We all know certain accusations mean automatic guilt. No trail, no evidence, no apology.
Yep, and we learned that back in 2007 with the Duke Lacrosse boys. Their names are still dragged through the mud by people who cannot accept the fact that the woman lied. For instance, Family Guy did a whole recent episode trying to drag Duke Lacrosse through the mud.

Even discounting all of the pain and suffering for the unjustly accused ( which obviously way too many already do..). But the expense of a rape trial and 30 years of incarceration with a possibility ( slim) of a settlement by the state if it gets overturned. OK at a minimum these liars cost the state a million dollars, much more with any appeals, etc How about we punish the liars for that since no cares to treat men as humans. Care about the money.
It's scary to even be accused of this. People turn on you 😢
My family don’t like to talk about it but my grandfather lost a chance to play college football because of being accused of r*pe by a white woman did a yr in prison for nothing. Lol why would you fear for the girl? She literally told a malicious lie and ruined several lives? She was never raped.
I had a hunch about this when I heard about it months ago that this accusation was shallow. The whole "believe the victim" idea is counterintuitive because its usually unclear who the victim really is. @@avacadomangobanana2588 The fact you are jumping straight to the death penalty shows how little faith you have in the side of the argument you've taken. Is your argument that there should be no consequences? If a 17 year old r*pes someone, would you argue they're too young for prison?
If it was down to me, if it was provable that soneone purposely lied to the police trying to get someone arrested, that person should be in prison for a duration equal to the standard sentencing guideline of the crime they falsely reported. I always appreciate your cognizant breakdowns of these touchy cases as a male sports commentator.
Folks in the sports community always tend to jump to conclusions and declare false accusations as more of a problem than the actual issue of sexual assault itself (which is statistically, a more common occurrence). I’m just happy that there’s been a quick thorough investigation with an overwhelming amount of evidence to clear any wrongdoing.
Female or male, people suck and there will sadly always be people like this.
This teen girl MUST have charges filed against her...she commit a real crime against another person.
When the story dropped, I gave her the benefit of the doubt despite Matt’s denials. Then I read that, after seeing the videos showing he was not there, she said he should be held accountable because “something happened.” SHE was the something that happened! She caused all of this, and her lies may make life harder for my daughters.
Matt didn’t deny having sex with her while having an std. only thing that was proven is he wasn’t there for the alleged gang rape. Still had sex with a minor though while infected. Bro is a piece of crap
So many women have this belief. If a man did something bad, even if it was 100 years ago, you can punish any other man and call it justice !?!
Too bad nobody gave HIM the benefit of the doubt. Absolutely disgusting that someone can work for years to achieve success and loose it all because of a lie, and even worse that nothing usually hapoens to the accuser. I hope her parents are proud of the person they raised.
I’ve noticed that the media isn’t covering this. Not a single peep from ESPN, no apology from Stephen A Smith, and anyone who doesn’t believe in “innocent until proven guilty” owe this man an apology.
When it can be proven, the punishment needs to be harsh enough to deter others away from making faults claims. But only when it can be 100% for sure, proven to be faults.
For sure. But yes, needs to be beyond reasonable doubt like all crimes are supposed to be. Don't want someone going to prison for something they didn't do. Don't want a real victim that didn't get a conviction on their perpetrator to suddenly end up getting locked up
Everyone at school started calling her a slut so she decided to say she raped instead. And/or her parents found out. And/or she realized she might be able to squeeze Matt for money
Same shit every time. I've seen this myself in real life too. Girl wants to sleep around then when word gets around after the fact she tries to play victim and put a case on somebody.
False accusations deserve the harshest prosecution!
A lot of the problem is that when something like this comes out people rush to call guys like this "trash" and say things like "good he was fired."
Its not just the false accusations, its the double standards involved. I had a female principal in high school who literally cornered me and started asking "what i was doing for the weekend" she was kind of hinting at me, but i didn't realize what she was onto until she grabbed my belt and tugged at it and said "I'll give you some cash for this" I went that weekend to the schoolboard with my mom to explain the incident and they just tell me I'm lying. Like wtf dude, they literally swept that under the rug and didn't investigate it the slightest.
Your objectivity-regardless of race or gender-makes me even more of a fan. Good for you, Flem.
Man I can understand why they had cut him loose, the allegations were pretty pretty pretty bad from what was gathered from the initial reports and details.
But it's the "Reputation" part that hurts the most. It'll hurt Matt, but also if the team kept him, even on the practice squad. It would look bad for the organization.
And it's not worth the risk for a punter.
It's almost like you need another holding spot, like the PUP list to start the season, and call it the LUP (Legally unable to play) for stuff like this.
I hate it for him, there's almost no way to get around this.
I'd definitely counter sue, no matter if she and her family doesn't have money. Crimes have consequences, she needs to face the consequences of lying about the second worst crime someone can commit. And it definitely shouldn't be a slap on the wrist, jail time, and probation. No bars, no clubs, no parties, and no lying.
I think for Matt he should be lucky he isn’t in prison because legally he did have sex with a minor while possessing an STD. In a few other states if he did these crimes he’s a registered sex offender off rip with a chance to serve a few years in prison.

Big Flem S/O to you for reporting this story man. All to many times, if these guys didnt do anything they dont get the headline that they should, that they are innocent. Thanks for changing the narrative of these guys man. Hopefully this guy can get a shot to make millions again. Great job!
Every time I see a story when someone files a civil suit for rape and never a criminal suit I'm always skeptical.
It translates to "I'm lying but I hope that he'll just pay a settlement so I can get bank"
@@symptomofsoulsSad part most of the time people do pay in order to avert a scandal. ( Scum sucking son's of bitches..She literally said she would settle for $50k off a rape charge)
Women should be held liable for false rape allegations. Too many girls out here trying to collect a free check.
I’ve said it since the Shawn Oakman case and I’ll say it again. Whatever punishment you were fine with an innocent person taking for your lie, you should take if your caught clearly lying. If he was going to do minimum 10 years in prison, she should now get a minimum of 10 years in prison. To sit back and be fine ruining someone’s life for personal gain is sickening they should get exactly what they were willing to wrongfully give out.
Not guilty and innocent are two entirely different things. So even in your judicial system unless you got proof of innocence you aren’t gonna get these women going to jail basically ever.
@@jacksonbrown8019 what are you talking about I said if they’re clearly caught lying your making this more complicated then it is. It was proved that the girl in the Shawn Oakman case clearly planned and consented to sex but lied for whatever reason. If she knew it was a lie but was okay with him being in a cage, she should be put in said cage.
One of my very first loves has been attacked and raped before we met. The damage and PTSD eventually ended our relationship. She despised those who make false accusations nearly as much as attackers. If this story triggers you, you're hopefully angry at the person who is the victimizer
Man it’s crazy cause one of my old co workers lied about me saying somthing threatening in regards to her and I nearly got fired for it it’s funny how much I hear about it happening around the world after that incident it’s sickening how people are so hell bent on ruining peoples lives sometimes
I can't believe they're still going through with the civil suit against him even though uts been proven he wasn't there. Her lawyer should be investigated by the bar.
Was the civil suit filed in California? If so, she will ruin her own life if the case gets dismissed.
Perjured testimony that puts ANYONE (including by law enforcement) into the legal system should be deemed a felony and the accuser should be rewarded a HEAVY jail penalty!! Banks, Oakman and many others less famous had their lives destroyed - shouldn't the same happen to the false accuser?
Everyone will give an account of how they lived their lives. Nobody gets away with a thing.
Great video!
This is the shit I have been talking about for over 10 years!!! These kids better stop getting blinded by the NIL . They Also need to call Roger Goddell and the Union for being silent on this issue.
Everybody should see this, sad how people were so quick to write him out
Thank you for making this video. Your presentation was objective and very well executed. There's no coming back from this for Matt. The way the media framed the narrative, the exlicit language used, the countless social media platforms condeming him for his actions and the fact that all that media will turn up in a simple search forever. So, unfortunately, Matt loses twice; his NFL career is over and he'll always be linked to a heinous crime that never happened. It doesn't get any worse than that.
I hate that for this young man 😢 I pray he gets another chance at his career
Great video! This public persecution of men without facts needs to stop!
That’s why you choose your crowd wisely. Life is not fair. You only do get one life and you have to make the most out of it. Make right decisions and always choose to be good over bad. Prayers to Matt 🙏🏼
He wasn't even there. If they know your name, they can have you arrested. Its really that easy.
@@robertreed7963 Stop chasing nonsense bro. If he was really that innocent. He would’ve been in a team by now. The law says he’s innocent. We the people know he really isn’t. Besides people like you 👌🏼
I had something like this happened to me when I was younger I got accused of sexually assaulting this girl at my school but the idiot didn’t know anything about school schedules because the time /place she was accusing me. I was literally in a class and even had a teacher come out to defend me still the principal chose to not believe me so I got two months of SSC and possible charges coming up on me as a 13 year old well like a week later they have a police investigation, and they find nothing but I still had to be there for two months for a while. I don’t know why it sucks because people thought I was a creep or a monster, even though I would never do such a thing and I’ve literally only been raised by women in my entire life, but I did feel a lot better when I came back to school a good amount of my classmates that did believe me and the teacher that I was literally in her class threw me a little party, and It felt good not be considered a monster, or a pervert hours someone actually believed me it just makes me sick that girl tried to ruin my life for something. I have no idea why she ended up transferring as soon as I came back and luckily, I’ve never seen her again
Fuck that principal. If I was a teacher and found my students was being wrongly accused of rape during a time he was in MY class, and the principal still forced him into ISS or some other bullshit punishment, not only would I take actions to get that principal removed from their position, but I would take this issue up with the super intendant and the student's parents so they can seek legal action. I would not tolerate any bullshit lies like that, especially since I KNOW the truth.
You couldn’t have explained this better. Keep up the good work
The Bills should get sued for cutting him without allowing him to go through due process.
They just treated him like a nigga which is why Whites are mad
Charges need to start happening to accusers who are proven to be 100% lying. Also the media and the 2 brain cell people who see someone "accused" should stop immediately acting they are guilty. It is supposed to be Innocent until proven guilty. I also think he should either get is chance back or the bills need to step up and do something.
Until the false ACCUSERS start getting in trouble this will not stop. It’s bad that these teams act like this before the guy is found guilty. Suspend him until you figure out the truth. Man I’m so sick of seeing this BS! When we gonna realize we don’t need to believe all of them! They sometimes lie!
Rewriting my comment because I recognize it wasn't solution oriented. Still coming from my perspective as an attorney, here are my thoughts:
At the end of the day, SA will always be the hardest crime to prove because it's the only crime where you have to prove the victims intent as well as the accused (for comparison: no is reasonably going to assume that a person consented to being shot, and even if they did that's not a defense). So making it more difficult to report or for police to investigate is not a viable solution. However, one thing that could help is more strict reporting laws. For instance, in some European countries (I believe either the UK or Czech), the media can't report on people accused of a crime until they are actually convicted. This will limit the amount of people being publicly executed before they get a fair trial. Further, I still hold that if evidence shows an alleged victim has *clearly* lied (proven beyond reasonable doubt), they should face the maximum possible sentence for the crime they accused the person of committing, plus a perjury charge.
Excellent solution oriented comment -- I learned from it and appreciated your second effort!
I think this is a reasonable jumping off point that could serve as a basis for some sort of workable solution
15:47 People "...manipulate the law into their favor." The problem is that there are laws that are felonies that actually do cover this situation, especially in CA, that are never pursued, because the prosecutor's either forget about those laws, or they are chided into not pursuing those cases in deference to "it will cause real victims to not come forward."
First, any prosecutor that can't convince the public that prosecuting false accusations is in the public interest might want to consider a career change. Next, the two laws that I can think of from the top of my head, having grown up in CA, are 1 - false reporting of a crime, 2 - perjury of sworn testimony relative to a criminal case, 3 - criminal slander. Those last two are felonies in CA. Number two is a felony in TX (where I currently live).
In this case, the prosecutor has all the evidence necessary to pursue all three of the charges I listed above, and possibly more that I'm not aware of, but they won't. For the exact reason you just mentioned, and for the exact reason this act was committed: we hold these accusations as guilty on utterance. We have it in our heads as a society that women are always telling the truth when they utter these accusations. And the problem is this: The moment a person is assumed to be telling the truth without reproach, be it women accusing intimacy assault, or police, or medical doctors, that is the *exact* moment that they *will* start lying.
You're right, it's not all of them. It's not all women, nor is it all police, nor is it all medical doctors. But the fact that full investigations into what's being said aren't taken seriously, and these groups of people are assumed to be telling the truth at all times is what our justice system is supposed to prevent! And it doesn't, but rather perpetuates it.
I don't think that it was really right for yahoo Sports to report on it with such certainty when the accusations were only made in civil court with a LOT of contradictory witness accounts. It's not acceptable to not report on it when evidence arises, but it's also stupid to report on allegations as if they're news. This should have just stayed an unpleasant thing that Matt was dealing with in his personal life, and once he was charged or once reporters had independent witness statements THEN report on it.
This is a perfect example how you should wait to get all the facts before you pass judgement. But we live in a society today fueled by social media they dont care to wait or hear facts. They already have they mind made up as soon as they hear a story or allegation.
This is shameful it happens too often.
Totally agree about consequences for false accusers!! Love you flem
Disturbing tale, great reporting.
Flemlo, I love your show. I am from Jerusalem and you have fans here. Thank you for you work. Many of us started in our vocation and went to work here.
I can appreciate that when you say rape or sexual assault you don’t bleep it out. I’m tired of hearing people on UA-cam talk about these things and are scared to actually say the words like they will get canceled. Keep up the great work.
I really hope he gets another shot in the NFL. It’s disgusting that he lost everything, just to find out he left hours before.
Glad Matt's name could be legally cleared, BUT!!!!! DO NOT let that take away from the fact that many of these same people who are cheering on Araiza's innocence still advocate that Deshaun Watson was unfairly treated. We all gotta remember to just be much more patient and shut the hell up for a while first.
One of the best things a friends dad ever told me that I still remember to this day if you have to ask for someone’s age before doing anything with them then leave and go home
Flem!!!! Glad to be a fan fam
Booty Butt Cheeks, love your screen name
@@teen_laqueefa 😂 shoutout Bonndocks.
FlemLo is a beast for taking the right stand on these every time.
Thes athletes need to file for defamation of character lawsuits like Johnny Depp did amber heard. The females lying on them cost them missing out on millions of dollars. They can definitely take that and win big.
Prob is you cant sue someone for what they don't have.
13:37 "This has been happening, like, forever..." For those of you who are a member of an Abrahamic religion (Judaism, Christianity, Islamic), you should know all about this exact topic. It's in Genesis. Quick quiz: What do you think Joseph when to prison for?!
Every time I hear a story like this I get so mad on the inside. This is beyond fucked up
After I heard the news that chick lied about Araiza, I’ve been wondering if I was going to see a video or something from UrinatingTree. He was very loud about how he felt about Araiza when the allegations came out. I didn’t think of UrinatingTree as a believe all women person rather than an innocent till proven guilty type of guy.
Public has short attention spans. Content creators can distract the public with another controversy extremely easy.
I been waiting for Bud Light Brand ambassador Pat Mcafee to comment as well seems it's not likely to happen
@@Peakfreud dang, I haven’t watch Pat for a minute. I didn’t know he was on Bud Lites 🍆 Lol kinda makes sense tho
@@lesmortz5681 UA-cam his bud light rap video.
By no means do I accept Bud lights actions as being reflective of Pats character.
However his silence on the issue despite being a brand ambassador speaks volumes, seeing as how he mentioned Bud Light a thousand times a minute during the height of his endorsement negotiations..
FlemLo, I haven't been here for a minute, but I see your content & production values are ever-evolving. Much respect my Bruh.
I am sorry if it hurts your metrics, but I am not comfortable listening/watching the reenactment of "that". I hope that the cmnt/like balances it a bit, I love your channel and have all the faith that you will/have presented the facts honestly, and treated all parties with the respect they deserve. I believe you to be empathic and emotionally mature, and you have the sensitivity to handle this story properly. I just can't personally.
See ya on the next one
A solution law could be.
If the accuser is proven to be lying with multiple forms of evidence the accuser shall serve half the term of the accused. (Time being served would vary by state.)
This whole "believe all women" whenever they cry rape thing is ridiculous. Yes there are predatory men out there that harm some women, but just as many if not more women make up allegations and send men to jail that they got mad at
The issue is society has decided their opinion is whatever is right. If he really did do it, then Buffalo should have cut him the moment accusations came up. If he didn’t do it, Buffalo is CRAZY for cutting him before things played out.
Crazy Matt's name and face is out there, and he'll receive so much backlash. Yet she'll walk away scott free. Plus I don't think we'll even know ol girls name or face.
Law 20: Do Not Commit to Anyone
"It is the fool who always rushes to take sides. Do not commit to any side or cause but yourself. By maintaining your independence, you become the master of others- playing people against one another, making them pursue you."
Everytime I hear of false accusations and people rushing to defend one side, I instantly think of this
Unless there is clear and obvious evidence of a crime being committed, people have to learn to let all of the information come out before judgement. I do feel like Rodger goodell should take some blame because he started this chain of reaction was suspending players who were just accused of actions
Nah bros finished the world already deemed him guilty he may never comeback from this
I like the handheld camera angles flem 🔥🔥
If Matt Araiza was black, with all the time stamp video footage and eye witnesses that he had, he would of had to pay enormous fines and he would still be in prison right now! FACTS!!!
