i agree. i wouldnt be surprised if this school has been discontinued. I hope it hasnt. the people in india and the caste system would Not let it flourish. i wonder if the girls all went on to do well professionally.
So touching and as a girl from India who almost grew up in the same circumstances, I can see myself in each of those girls. A real life picture of so many things going on and especially dealing with the real world problems is a great challenge for all the kids. But education and empowering is the best they got and they will face the hardships with courage and confidence. Thanks for such wonderful documentary and paving a way for my ideas too. Looking forward to working with and see many more Shanthi Bhavan's which help the under previlaged children of India who are discriminated from the normal society. So impressive work. Thank you.
This documentary is awesome. It did a beautiful job of painting a picture of what life is like for these amazing young women and their mothers. I'm watching the series for the 2nd time.
This was one of the last things I got to watch with my mother who passed away from breast cancer in 2017. We watched it in August...she died in November. It was a privilege, honor, and pleasure to be able to view this especially with my own mother. Thank you Vanessa Roth. Shanti Bhavan is amazing and I hope it is around and prospers for a very long time.
Y'all..this is phenomenal and a must watch!! Talk about breaking generational curses!! These "untouchables" are breaking chains that society has placed on them and their families for centuries. There was a time when we, black Americans valued education this way. "And thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself"❤️
It's such a shame I just discovered this movie few days ago, and made it to finish it twice now as I am doing a Self-quarantine. Thanks so much for making this magnificent art. I love everything about it. It's inspired me a lot from any possible way.
Binge watched this and I am so happy Venessa made this docu-series. Many Indians are in the dark about this school and this wonderful effort must bring more recognition to this wonderful school.
I am deeply grateful this documentary was made. understand how huge the work was. l also love how realistic it is in representing the school and not being just a marketing appraisal for a charity - that l am alergic on because l am aware there are always many sides to everything. I hope she will consider making more out of the filming material they gathered - perhaps "sons of destiny" or "humans of destiny", anything. would love to hear other characters and follow their lives.
She portrayed them as humans with potential. I am tired of western documentaries where people from African continent or India are depicted just as helpless souls! Thats a western propaganda to feel better
I absolutely loved watching Daughters of Destiny. Dr. George had such an amazing vision, of what can be accomplished, by educating children to grow up and help their families and communities. The ripple effect of educating a child.
Loved everything about this documentary. Fascinating, inspiring, moving, beautifully edited. Would love to see more about the graduates' path to success post-Shanti Bhavan. Thank you for sharing this story - just bought Shilpa's book.

It was such a well portrayed documentary. It should touch the hearts of anyone who watches it and I hope they will dig into their pockets to help sustain and build more shanti bhavan’s in India. I hope the super rich who live in India can look out for their own people and have some kind of self respect and do what is right and important to become and have a developed status in the developed world. Bollywood come on pull your resources and donate to more Shanti Bhavans.
Dr George demonstrated wisdom by making the school embrace the various religions instead of trying to evangelize anyone. I feel like his motives being so laser focused on lifting these families out of poverty was a huge contribution to the success of this labor of love.
I enjoyed this documentary I pray and hope that Netflix will commit to supporting you with a ton of money to do a follow up where are they now Bx docudrama I hope you will be able to do a broader documentation of the deep scope of how growing up in a caste system and as a result of the school coming in and transitioning the trajectory of their entire world as they knew it.I was so happy to see the entire transformation of all the girls and I know they are so many more untold stories I which you good luck 👍🏽 in the follow up, thank you for sharing from a girl from Brooklyn NY
She pulls at one's heartstrings - such sparkle. For a moment I thought she would be dumped because of the dyslexia - I hope the school doesn't do that to any child. It would be irresponsible
Just finished my second time watching the movie, and one thing I did was googling her name lol, I can't stop thinking about how adorable she is. There is few information about her, based on their website she is now in 7th grade, hope she's doing well....
To think there are people like Dr George and all at Shanti Bhavan. And then there is donald trump. I bought shilpa raj book on amazon. Amazing documentary. Life reaffirming
Fun fact: Vanessa Roth was the hippie girl sitting on the boulevard next to Jenny in Forrest Gump when the guy asked them if they wanted to go to San Francisco.

Dr. Abraham George who founded this school is a living saint among us. He should be considered for the Nobel Prize for peace.

I would like to see an update on all of the children featured in this film.
I now donate monthly to Shanti Bhavan, because I believe in Dr. George's vision too.
That’s amazing I wish I could but I could volunteer. I wonder if there is still a need and who to contact.
Follow them in Facebook you can donate

Every state need shanti bhavan. And Dr George need Bharat ratna award....!

Vanessa Roth you have given a huge boost to Shanti Bhavan and Dr. Geroge. your film has given them wings.
Most Tamilians are great at studies. The lawyer girl is one of the strongest person in this movie.. i think of a tigress

I wonder about her sister...that poor little girl
Yes she is! Instantly I felt love for her.
