JOHN! GREG! PLS REACT TO THE NWH TEASER SPOOF BEFORE THE OFFICIAL TRAILER DROPS , PPPLLLLLLLLLLSSSSSSSS!🙏
Be sure to check The Witcher Nightmare of the Wolf movie. It probably will be connected to season 2
I can’t seem to find the full length reaction to the Witcher on Patreon - is it up yet and I’m missing it?
Season 2 yay!!!
Important to keep in mind that a lot of characters in this universe do not age, it's not too hard if you pay attention to context clues to understand the timeline but don't worry if you're a bit confused at some point, we'll be very happy to clear up some things as well as tell you more about the lore ahah
Just let them find them out for themselves, your first time watching it’s a bit confusing but its a wired surprise
well, in here, noone does and every looks the same in the past future or present day. the execution is a tad bit poor
The characters in the show are like Paul Rudd; Supposedly ages older for each year, and yet remains closely the Same😂😂
Why would you tell them about different timelines right off the fuckin bat?
You know when I found out there were different timelines? When the show showed me there were different timelines.
@@keef5 lol why are we acting like it’s some mind blowing plot device/spoiler. A lot of people just got confused by it in this show and it wasn’t a secret.
Also fun fact. Henry Cavil loves the Witcher series. He's read all the books and played through all three games. When he found out Netflix was going to do the show he had his agent call the producer on a regular basis about playing Geralt.
I loved it when Cavil was the guest on Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy was saying some bullshit about "seeing those books in stores in childhood". And Henry was like "not unless you spent your childhood in Poland, you didn't" :D
@@JanPopieluch I didn't see that. That's awesome. Called him out on a lie! 😂😂😂
Henry's interviews are always good to watch.
@@JanPopieluch i have just watched the interview but i can’t find it. podaj linka plz!
@@gugugaga1233 He doesn't correct him.
Important lines from this episode:
Renfri to Geralt: "Calanthe just won the battle of Hochebuz".
Ciri to queen Calanthe: "You won the battle of Hochebuz when you were my age".
Oh shit i didnt even catch those lines when i was watching this show 🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
@@tesiola Me too :D I remember when after watching this show I read some opinions and find this in some comments haha
this!!! i didn’t catch it at first but after rewatching the show multiple times, i finally understood haha
3rd important line
Mousesack: *"Many, many years ago,* sorcerers were known to lock little girls in towers."
THANK YOU. The number of people who missed that confused the hell out of me. But then again, it's one of those things that is aided immensely by using subtitles. Seeing the words spelled out more than once helps it be noticed.
Hyped for this! Fun fact, Henry did all stunts himself for the entire season.
Because Henry Cavill is the best
This man really is super man
Ok
@DS D I disagree. Glad you wasted your time.
@DS D first book is the same way so suck it
There's some important clues scattered through dialogue that's worth thinking about. You've got Queen Calanthe, grandmother and well established badass on the battlefield. But when Renfri is talking to Geralt, she mentions how Calanthe had just recently won her first battle. Think about it.
The choice of the production not to include any text hints was... brave, I think? This was definitely not a "watch while vacuuming" show.
@@daliden what "good" shows are?
True. It will help you more later.
The moment I realize it was 2 then 3 different timelines I was like ohh everything makes sense
Let them be as confused as I was
THANK GOD the Reel Rejects finally came to their senses and started to watch this amazing show!
Henry Cavill was THE PERFECT choice to play Geralt. The first time he said “Fine” in that gravely voice I knew no one else could play this character.
Also this is some of the best sword fighting I have seen in my life. Take notes Star Wars.
"Poor guy, not enough elixir for you." Actually there was. The loyal guard gave him 3 doses of exilir, but I'd assume as a thanks for allowing his family a painless death, he let the guard keep the dose meant for him, so the guard could die painlessly as well. Went out like a G.
I think it is because he is a man and doesn't want to die by poison (in general a women's weapon), I think in his eyes it would be a more honourable death if he does it himself with a dagger
@@resathe6760 Poison is a woman's weapon for murder, not a girly way to kill yourself. Also his kingdom is fallen and all his friends are dead, doubt he'd care about his image... and if he really did care about his "honour" killing yourself in any way is the cowards way out, he'd have grabbed a sword and tried to die in battle if that was the case. Plus this dude served a badass queen for most of his life, doubt he cares about gender norms.
Why include the scene of the knight handing him 3 doses, and then him giving the knight back one if thats the case? He'd have just asked for two.
@@KS-xk2so he didn't give one back. He was offered three and took only two. I'm not saying that my assumption is the only correct one but why would he leave it for Danek? He is definitely more likely to die fighting. And just because Calanthe was a warrior queen doesn't mean all her subjects suddenly threw all views about gender norms overboard. So the reason is probably open for interpretation and we will never know for sure. But that's just my opinion
I love how Geralt puts Renfi’s broach on his sword after this 🗡
😃 😂😂😂😂
A good thing to know about the witchers is that they’re not actually stripped of their emotions. That is merely a myth. So Geralt can feel just as many emotions as a normal human.
i've seen far too many people listen to those rumors rather than geralt himself because if they were actually paying attention, they would notice his emotions easily enough. i mean, look at them! they've already picked up a bit from the first episode!
Well it´s more complex than a myth. It´s actually part of their training to learn how to suppress emotions but in Geralts case they find their way to the surface anyways.
@Divayth Fyr No i just read the books and besides the mutations they get trained in suppressing emotion and thats a thing. The part about mutations limiting their emotion is the myth as paris said
As far as I’m aware he just suppresses them in public to keep the image of a witcher, stereotypes, myths, and all
@@Flex8187 eh, sort of. they certainly train to overcome fear, disgust, etc. and re-write their fight or flight reflexes. and they don't really relate to normal people. but all of the witchers in kaer morhen in blood of elves seem to have a full range of normal emotions.
I love seeing people react to any witcher media. I am polish, so people being curious about this series and the mytholoy surrounding it (and our culture) is very great thing to see. I just want to say that the season 3, but most likely 4-5 will be the best, beacause the best characters will be introduced, I'm sure you guys will love it!
did you mean to say season or episode?
@@cuffzter season
Same here:) Although Witcher is not as massively influenced by Polish (and Slavic) mythology as some people would portray it to be, it's definitely a unique piece of storytelling. I've felt weirdly proud recently when Adam from pReviewed said he was reading the Witcher books and now understood what 2nd season will be about :D
@@meanpersona4686 Ok. Considering there only have been one season and were waiting for the second, we dont even for sure theres gonna be a 3rd season or 4-5th. (although if its as good as the first, they'd be damn fools not to continue with more seasons) I assume theres lots of books ready for the future that can be made into later seasons
@@cuffzter i believe there was a report (not sure if confirmed) that Henry already signed a contract for 5 seasons?
Eyy I'm looking forwards to this. Never played the games or read the books, but I enjoyed this series and am looking forwards to S2. Toss a coin to your Reel Reject, o valley of plenty.
Edit: It's Geralt, with "G" as in "Granny." "Gare-alt," basically.
13:07 their faces 🤣🤣🤣
I haven't read the books, but the game is on another level. If you really want to learn and appreciate the Witcher universe, you got to pick up the game or the book. After playing the game, I never really liked the series. Geralt in the game is a different being entirely, the cutscenes and the game world is just breathtaking.
I mean if you really want to explore more about the lore and have time to spare then I'm highly recommended both the books and the games. Though there might be some unconnected part between the 2 but they're both extremely great piece of art. As a person who had the chance to experience all 3 main versions of the Witcher, I must say I'm super happy inviting people to join the cult.
Books are not hard to read at all. After only playing the games, when this show was announced I decided to read the books last summer. Was through all 6 (or 7?) within a month. Extremely cool story that should (if they do it right) make for outstanding quality in a show. Just hoping Netflix keeps them financed.
Plenty of timeline questions will come up but once you understand it everything else will become clear. I'm stoked you guys are watching this!
Im just waiting for them to have "toss a coin to your witcher" stuck in their heads
Yep, its only a matter of time. Lol
Game of Thrones was very much about the politics of the world, which is why it focussed heavily on high-borns and the intrigue there.
Whilst The Witcher books, whilst have that also, are predominately philosophical in its storytelling. ‘The Lesser Evil’ being a perfect jumping off point to understand that.
The death of Renfri is more of a cautionary tale, than a huge emotional loss.
thats alot of Whilst
Yesssssssss I loved this notification
I didn't expect that you two didn't see The Witcher at all. I'm surprised. Anyway watching with you will be a re-watch for me before Season 2 comes out.
Same!
same
Holy shit so excited for this! Can't wait for you guys to be reacting to season 2 live!
“We’re not gonna talk about this forever,” Proceeds to talk about this forever. 😂
The fighting is amazing. All the actors in the Witcher are all A class. I can’t wait for season 2 😋
Happy you’re doing this, been a while since I’ve watched will be a great way to revisit before season 2
I literally started my rewatch yesterday!! This is awesome timing!!
super excited to see y’all are reacting to this! the timeline can be confusing, but generally (if i’m not mistaken) geralt’s timeline is catching up to ciri’s timeline (which is the show’s “present”). after y’all finish s1, i recommend watching the animated movie to understand the world more, as well as geralt’s father’s origin story.
I didn't think I needed this until I saw the notification. I am so excited to go in this journey! 😂💞
This is one of geralts ealiest stories. Hes widley known as 'The butcher of Blaviken' after this...and not fondly
I love this show. I'm so excited y'all are watching it. I've watched season one four times now. There's a lot of details that you can pick up on repeat viewings but it's definitely not necessary to understand or enjoy. The way that the show handles it's timeline can be a little confusing for some but as long as you pay attention, it's a really smart way to keep your audience guessing and then when everything clicks, it's super satisfying.
I really appreciate your coverage of the first season of The Witcher. There are three timelines in the story; this is just to help you with any confusion. The timeline of Ciri (the newest timeline), the Timeline of Yennifer (the oldest and longest) and the timeline of Geralt that contains the other two.
Another fun little tid bit- in the books, Renfri’s life story is essentially the same as Snow White
Can’t wait to watch y’all ride this ride, the context develops and I think a lot of your concerns from this first episode get ironed out pretty satisfyingly
In the books the Refri story gets fleshed out a little more. Her mutantness was "confirmed" by her stepmother after consulting with a magic mirror. She is sent to the woods with a huntsman who is ordered to cut out her heart and bring it back to stepmom. She escapes and eventually ends up living with a band of gnomes. Later Stregobor puts her under a curse that turns her into crystal and buries her. The curse is broken by a (probably handsome) prince. So yeah, basically Refri is Snow White who fights back and then breaks bad.
First off, love love love the reaction. It was awesome seeing the excitement over all of it. Thank you!! For me the best bit about this show outside the show itself is Henry doing his own stunts and he trained with a real sword and used one when filming. Cavill stated how he wanted the fight scenes to be real and not based around a prop weapon. That man is also a massive Witcher gamer and reader, so he was the perfect choice for this show. 😁😁
I'm so glad you guys are doing The Witcher!! I have no idea about the games or books but I loved this when it first came out, you will too! Your reactions to Geralt going to town on all those guys were priceless! Ciri apparently has some awesome power in her!
Season 1 is based on The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny, which are collections of short stories that are prequels to the main Witcher saga.
Yes 🙌🏽! There aren’t enough reaction vids to The Witcher!!
yall react to everything I ever search for. Love the channel and all the different genres yall react to
Looking forward to your reactions even if you haven't read the books or played the games. One tiny info that might help you understand things later besides that a lot of characters don't age (so timeline can be hard to differentiate). WItchers aren't a race of being, I won't say anything other than that. Also yes it is Geralt with a hard G. I hope you enjoy the show as much as I did!
This season was based off of a book of short stories but it also includes seeds that lead into the first actual Witcher novel. So, Geralt’s story will sometimes seem like a series of one offs - like Renfri - very often.
Brooo this is one of my favorite shows!!! Very glad to see your reaction and review. Keep up the great work!
Vladimir Furdik was the one making the battle choregraphy for this show, hes the one who also made the ones for GoT and portrayed the Night King
yes!! it feels like ages since ya'll made that community post and i've waiting for it ever since!!!
I absolutely adore this soundtrack for the whole series (quite literally play it sometimes just because i can)
Toss a coin to your modesty :)
Take note that it takes place in three separate timelines that converge near the end.
Hello there! I have never watched y’all or any other “reaction” videos before until The Witcher. I have liked the show so much and found that on second view a year later I appreciated it even more, then found myself watching again…. I was bizarrely addicted. I then found I could feed my addiction with material produced by others - reviews and critiques of one kind or another. This led me to find this thing that is reaction videos. I encountered first the Gamma Ray fan reaction series, which was a blast. Then I realized that was a compilation of coverage from individual reactors. After taking in a few others, which were fluffy and bored me, I found yours. I have gotten the most out of your analysis with this piece on episode 1 and I will be continuing with you in the next episodes as I do my last round on season 1 before season 2 drops. Your fresh approach is more than the others a literary analysis with multiple analytical objectives. You focus on the intent, construction and impact on the audience of the piece of art, on own terms, as an original work, with a historical perspective and with loving appreciation of the material. I doubted such a thing existed, frankly, after seeing so many fluffy “reactions”. Thanks for doing this. It’s worthwhile. Nice job.
I enjoyed the reaction and discussion! Looking forward to your reactions to the rest of the season!
Also rewatching the whole season after finishing is fun to do when you get all these little references being thrown around.
6:02
I keep thinking of Adrian Brody and the frog in that movie High School when you do that😂
OH DAMN WHAT THE HELL!! SO EXCITED TO SEE U GUYS REACT TO THIS
I have been watching season 1 at least once a month. So much Henry eye candy. The books and the game are on this grandma's Christmas wish list. I like MMORPGs
What’s crazy is that watching this first episode again feels like I’ve watched like 3 seasons of the show already even though only ones out. They do an excellent job at telling stories
Man, you are in for a wild ride! I love this show and i'll be here for your next reactions. 😊
i recently started watching the witcher without any prior knowledge about the witcherverse and i fell in love with the characters and story instantly. it can be a bit hard to follow at times but i'm sure people in the comments will help you out 😊
so so glad you two decided to check out the series!!
Too hard I had no idea what was going on so I gave up
Ohmyyyy I just found you guys and I'm so happy I did! I really liked your reaction and attitude :D
Can't wait till next episode and they meet the best character of the show and get his song stuck in their head lol.
Such an amazing show im surprised it took you this long. glad youre on board. Best Netflix original in my opinion. nothing but quality and fun. Henry Cavill is the hero we deserve.
First season is a breathtaking masterpiece, beautifully utilizing elements that immediately bring my favorite elements of mmorpg, simply exceptional across the board.
I love all of your facial expressions here :D
I am rewatching it at the moment to be prepared for season 2. So i am looking forward to your reactions. I definitly love Yenefers arc way more than Ciris but i love when it all comes together, no spoiler here because the storytelling of the show is actually pretty nice ;) . I never played the games and only read one book, but i really loved the tv show.
same!! yenefers stuff was my fav
Hey guys, great reaction. I'm new to your channel and will definitely follow your reactions to season 1 (and season 2!). I like your post-view analysis and the way you think things through. The Witcher is a very grey world, bitter sweet, which challenges you with difficult choices, with more of a focus on philosophical intrigue rather than political like GoT. The budget for Season 1 wasn't as great as it's going to be for season 2 (once Netflix knew they have a banger and have invested).
You will very much look back on this episode in a different light towards the end of the season!
It's very much a 'set up' season, which focuses mainly on the first book of short stories. Try and pay attention, as season 1 was confusing in one particular way for a lot of viewers ;)
The key to enjoying this show is unpicking the narrative. It’s absolutely okay to be confused at times as it’s the very intention.
The thing they said about the emotional power this episode could have if you watched it after the season ends is really good unintentional foreshadowing, I now understand some choices the producers made more.
Keep in mind that there are different timelines and that most characters live long lives.
For example Geralt’s scenes in episode 1 take place decades b4 Ciri’s scenes in the episode.
Way to spoil the main plot twist in the series for those who haven't watched it.
why would you post this
@@diode_wow the main plot twist is obvious in episode 2? Idk what show you watched. But the fact that there are different timelines is not the shows plot twist. Its damn near in flashing green neon lights through the whole show.
@@lucasrizor3251 if it's obvious, why the hell do you write about it?
This is gonna be awesome, I can't wait! Also yeah, you should definitely have subtitles on, and taking notes probably wouldn't hurt lol.
This is the first video I’ve seen from you guys and I’m excited to watch you guys experience this show cuz it’s awesome
"All that gravity when she's going to fall out of the window." 🤣 🤣 🤣
From what I remember, the grunts were not in the script. There was quite some dialogue, which he replaced with grunts, much to the confusion of other actors waiting for him to say his lines and then realizing they won't be coming.
Hell yes. My favourite UA-cam reactors watching my favourite Netflix show
I’m so happy you’re doing Witcher!! It’s an amazing show!!
To help you out. Listen when they talk about time periods. They already talked about locking princesses into towers as a more reason thing and a more ancient thing. Hint hint.
YESSSSS!!! I'm so glad y'all started this series. I started watching this show cold also and by the end of it I loved it. I still have a particular song as my ring tone. Can't wait to see more
Important to note, witchers don’t inherently have white/blonde hair. Geralts hair is this colour due to…reasons to do with how he became a witcher.
Ciri just has this as her natural hair colour.
When you guys get to Episode 6 check out the lyrics for the song in the credits "Her Sweet Kiss". So many people overlook it, but the context of the song and actual lyrics speak volumes about a certain Bard you'll soon meet and his relationship with Geralt.
these two are so high it cracked my shit up lol.
Happy you guys reacting to the Witcher! It's honestly a great series and I'm really excited for Season 2 next month 😄
So excited you started this!
I'm excited you guys are doing this not only cuz i love your reactions, but its also a great way to revisit the first season before season 2 since i haven't seen it in 2 years or whatever
That sword fight was amazing. Easily one of the best
I am SO psyched you guys are watching this. This show is amazing.
Watching this all again and some reactions to get refreshed before starting S2. LOL I remember thinking after the wizard's spell-move at 7:28 that I ought to start doing that whenever I fart, lol
Never watched before but definitely going to if y’all are watching glad to go through it at the same time as a first time watch. Awesome reaction Rejects 👏💯😎
Great! This will be a great recap for us to get ready for season 2!
Yay, after binge watching Superman and Lois/Kingdom reactions , another show is up!! 😍
I clicked on this video soooo fast. I have been waiting for this
So hyped that you guys are reacting to this show, it's one of my favs. Looking forward to the next episode reaction!
I cant believe you are finally doing witcher! it's sooooo good
Haha, I'm hard of hearing, so I had captions on. At 5:23 Geralt says, "You want me to kill Dragon Ball for you" in the CC
This show jumps around time periods alot FYI, hard to tell bc alot of characters age v slowly due to magic and stuff
This is a major spoiler.
I am so pumped to see your reaction to this!!!
Nice you guys finally started this one💪
6:06 He went for the head.
17:36 He also went for the head !
Okay so imma keep this spoiler free
yall need to know that there are 3 SEPERATE concurrent timelines in this show which wittle down to 2 then 1 and they do not make it obvious at all. Episode 2's main character's plot is set earliest in the timeline, the stuff with Geralt is slightly ahead of that with the Ciri and kingdom of Cintra raid stuff being the present real time events.
Keep that in mind otherwise you'll end up extremely confused with certain stuff. Definitely works better as a show on subsequent viewings.
Thanks for spoiling this for them.
When I first watched and figured out the timelines, it was a revelation and such a satisfying exploration in storytelling... But hey lets just ruin it for them.
@@Persephone_Personified nah for me and my friends especially it was annoying. We thought we missed major chunks of what happened and I even mistook a character for being someone else but with more makeup on. And I've played witcher 2 and 3 so I was used to weird timelines and was familiar with the characters and their stories to a certain degree.
And I havent spoiled a thing that most reviews covered anyways. If you're that anal about spoilers that says more about you than anything
I actually wanted to leave a comment explaining the timeline but I feel like if we let them piece together the timeline it will be a much more satisfying experience for them ... don't you think? 🤔
@@shayanbond6184 yes. If the writers wanted it explained ahead of time they would’ve explained it. The show doesn’t hold your hand.. that’s why it’s so brilliant
I hope nothing serious has been spoiled for you guys already, just pay attention to the details of each episode, and it may not seem as confusing as you watch. The story telling definitely did catch a lot of viewers off guard, but once you realize what’s happening, it’ll all make sense. So excited for you two to experience this show!
It's always so interesting to see people who knows nothing about the franchise, discuss and dissect what they think it's going on haha. Great job my dudes. Even though you guys are pretty off haha. Can't wait to see more.
I am so happy you are reacting to this show! It is a great show and I can not wait for the next season!!! Looking forward to the next upload
Whaaaaatttt I had no idea this was coming! I’m so excited to watch your reactions to this!
Just a note - Henry does not use a stunt double. It's all him! And the grunts are not a thing in the books - Geralt is actually quite verbose. Maybe it's different in the games?
YESSS can't wait for the rest of these and I can't wait for season 2 :)
Hums "Toss a coin to your witcher oh valley of plenty..."
That song will stay with them for a time
Can't wait for the music of season 2
Would love to see you react to the entire season, can't wait for the second season! \m/
Future heads-up you might feel confused at times but when you guys reach E4 that 's when you guys will fully understand the beauty of the show and the brilliance of it ...
Yeasss u are doing ittttt thank u very muchhh notification belt specially for this one from italy studying thank u ❤
Henry Cavil did all his stunts
