Craig... great choices really nice albums there Betty Wright great artist...Willie Hutch awesome very underated artist but both well known here in the UK..👍
Craig, this was excellent! I may have had William Bell, but you had Johnny Bristol: nice! I have those 70's Delaney & Bonnie LPs: Motel Shot and To Bonnie From Delaney are my faves. Betty Wright, Chi-lites...so great. Looking forward to checking out some other videos of yours. 😎🎶Ed.
Craig Danger, Martin Gee here! What a great selection! Loved what you said about Aretha, how she just bodies any version she does...I agree too! Also liked the nod to David Axelrod. Bustin Loose 12" I play that track out a lot but I only have the LP. Digging your style and yes, I've subscribed too! My Soul/Funk Vinyl Tag will be out soon, I'm pretty sure you will like it! Bless.
Hey Martin. Thanks for commenting. Yeah, I look forward to your Soul Tag. I've been all over John's playlist of the entries. So much left to learn. 💯 Cheers to you! 🤘😁
My Man Craig Danger! I was hoping you would do the tag and boy you did it beautifully... Another bunch of records to go check out, thank you for that. Must have been cool to meet the band at the hotel pool for sure. Happy New Year Brother, this one is starting well Thank you.
I survived this video!!!!!!!!!! You'd have been an ideal AOS DJ on USA radio in the 70s with this persona. Bristol's cream cover is in the Hall of Fame.
Great tag my friend. Never heard that full Betty Wright before. Need to check that out. Great pick on the Miguel. That is actually the pick I pulled for my answer to that question so you will be seeing it in my video lol. That album LITERALLY restored my faith in modern day Rl&B! Totally brought that 80s R&B sound back to the table.
@@mrhoffame I'll agree totally on Miguel. Best modern R&B record I've heard in a long time. His 2nd is good, but Kaleidoscope is an absolute mic drop. Thanks for watching! 🤘😁
Excellent tag Mr Danger, I really should start my own channel and jump in on this, thanks for showing a 12 inch single they need more love, stay frosty down there you hoser
Hey Craig. Great Video. Lou is the man. Chi-lites! Aretha! I agree with your take oh her, she is a killer in that way. Delaney & Bonnie nice choice. I'm a fixin' to take a crack at this tag too. Well done. Cheers
@@7BobbyGaylor7 Glad to hear you're taking the tag on! I've already seen a bunch so far, and they're all excellent. Soul & Funk, Vinyl Community 2025! 🤘😁
That's my favorite picture of Aretha! It's hard to pick a favorite album of hers from the 60s Atlantic stuff, they're all fantastic.I picked James for my horns section selection! It's hard to believe that so many iconic players were in his band(s): Fred Wesley, Maceo, St. Clair, Waynon Reed, etc.Otis Redding ballads are similar in style, but I can never get enough of them. I would not have thought of Rawls. Great choices!
for people interested in a good single disc go-go comp check out 1985's "Go Go Crankin': Paint the White House Black." Bustin' loose not on it, But Chuck Brown is. I think Bustin' Loose is also on the legendary 4 disc comp "The Funk Box." [2000]
Miguel is great. Kaleidoscope Dream and Wildheart are my favs. There are 5 neo-soul guys I think are really excellent, and he's 1. Other 4: Frank Ocean, Khalid (I like his debut American Teen the best, but the 2nd album is strong too), D'Angelo and Raphael Saadiq (The album "The Way I See It" is the best Motown rip I've ever heard, and Stone Rollin' is just great).
People throw around the term underrated a lot. But, Delaney & Bonnie, good lord. It didn't help that both of them had almost non-existent solo careers. Together, however, they created some fantastic music. Their debut 'Home' (69) on the Stax label is fantastic, especially with the additional bonus Tracks. Accept No Substitute: The Original Delaney & Bonnie (69) on Elekta might be my favorite, it's a great one. 'To Bonnie From Delaney' (70) on ATCO is super solid, with some great stuff on it. Motel Shot (71) on ATCO is another favorite, and the bonus track version is also well worth searching for. Lastly, D & B Together (72) on Columbia is quite good, as Craig mentions. The live "On Tour w/Friends & Eric Clapton (70) on ATCO is one of their best, and the 4-5 disc box set is great as well. You get 3-4 full shows and plenty of great alternative takes essentially and some other different songs not on the original release. What's that? 6 Records on 4 different labels - Yeah, Delaney was a notoriously 'difficult' person to work with, to put it nicely. Still made some great music.
Hi Craig, it's been a while! Great entry into the soul tag. Is the Chuck Jackson you noted on the Independents record the same as the RandB singer from the sixties? I hope your 2025 is a great one my friend. take care, Elliott
