Why the hell is it that every time i watch a violent story with Rarity, her horn is almost always broken?
So she can't use her magic and escape, that would ruin the story!

Its the most logical given she's pretty good at magic
It's almost the same way as Rainbow Dash, she is either the villain or victim, mostly victim because the fandom wants to see her suffer.
It’s kinda like the same thing with rainbow dash, where in all the stories she isn’t the villian, she is almost always getting her wings cut off so she can’t fly away and escape.
The really scary thing about this fic is that both rarity and applejack are perfectly in character.
They would actually do something like this

no. no they are not. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad story but Rarity and Applejack are NOT in character.

"The Cask of Amontillado" is one of my favorite Edgar Allan Poe stories.
Same! Though I'm curious what Rarity said about rainbow dash. I couldn't hear it clearly. Wonder if they'd do the tell tale heart.

@@iceluvndiva21 I think it’s made up drinks. In the original story the narrator pulls the same trick on his victim by saying “maybe I should have Luchesi check” and Fortunato replies “ Luchesi cannot tell Amontillado from Sherry”
Too bad Luna would have found her with her ability to look into people's dreams. Once Rarity was asleep all she had to do was wait for Luna and then all would be well.
Plot twist, Luna finds it a fitting punishment and just goes back to her job

This fan fic was generally very well constructed, however, as we all know. Applejack is a horrible liar, and I doubt that the others will not acknowledge Rarity's absence so suddenly, they might ask Applejack where Rarity had settled with Big Mac so they could visit their old friend, that would be quite the situation there. However I enjoyed this new taste of grimness, and despite what Applejack said, I think Sweetie Belle would have a traumatic breakdown due to her sister suddenly vanishing without a trace and abandoning her family without even saying a goodbye. Then again that's my personal head canon, also the voice is very dramatic and allures you right into the story. Fantastically well done~

Not to sound rude, but AJ said she wrote a note saying Big Mac and Rarity “eloped”. People who elope run away in secret to be together. Twilight herself would know what Elope means so I doubt she’d be stupid enough to ask someone where someone who eloped went.

I remember reading this and then when I listened to this I and I pictured the entire story both this version and the original.
Also edgar Allen Poe is amazing. I've read the tell heart tale by him.

Once upon a midnight dreary, as I watch this weak and weary, this fic lined up with my english class perfectly. We read the story, it was great. But I like this one better, excellent work mate.

Ugh, why did you have to do a fic inspired by THAT little story of Poe's? It's the only one that really disturbs me, and now I'm going to spend the rest of my day with that nasty, unsettled feeling.

Strange, isn't it? I very much enjoy reading Poe's other stories and poems, but they don't affect me in the same way--even "The Premature Burial," which shares a few of the same themes. I think it's the combination of that slow doom and the calm, malevolent friend-turned-killer, which comes through very well with Applejack for me in this reading.

I remember reading this in junior high. The way the story was written and the way the characters talked was gobbledegook to me at the time, but I remember that last bit: "In pace requiescat". Sure scared the heck outta me then. Never thought I'd ever hear Applejack and Rarity reinacting The Cask of Amontillado. :) It was good though. Just as unsettling. Nice reading!
This is one of my favorite stories by Edgar Allan Poe, and one of the stories I studied back in High School. Lol I'm also a Apple Jack and Rarity fan here, so I enjoyed them seeing them fit into the roles. This was a fun fanfic, made me had a story squee over it.
This is a great story but let’s be real if this actually happened it would probably end with applejack being a horrible liar because we know she’s the element of honesty and ending up just telling the others what happened and rarity would be saved or searchers will find the horn and break down the wall

I’m for there being justice, but doing this to someone just isn’t it. At least Applejack honestly had an understandable reason, unlike Montessor (I think that’s his name) from the original story who didn’t seem to know how to take any sort of criticism of his family’s failing wine business. Still felt bad for Rarity, though.

Have you read the Simpsons version of the story? They had a few Treehouse of Terror scripts that they decided would work better as comic books. In their take on Cask, Moe seals Homer up in the bar's basement. ("Mmm...amontillado.....")
