      @@Scupper7 haha yep. Yamaha certainly doesn't do it for 2 strokes. I believe that is what Kyle is trying to say.
      Having said that. I had a WR that can be tuned (with the power tuner but its the same system) and I used it all of about 3 times. Both Yamaha and KTM know how to tune their bikes than just about anyone else. Im on a 2020 EXC TPI now and have no intention of playing with the map/changing the ecu

    Holy shit 900 bucks just to be able to richen up the low end and lean the too end a touch? I can do the same thing for 10 bucks worth of brass and 5 minutes time with a keihin....progress?

    • @elis740
      @elis740 5 років тому +1

      Yes, that is progress. Especially with the way it will adjust for altitude, a dirty air filter, temperature, etc. and it has the dual map switch (which you can also have on your carb bike, with the Get ECU ignition controller and some stock ignition controllers). It is a lot more tune-able and predictable than a carb. After dealing with both in snowmobiles, I am looking for a way to put one of these on my KX500AF. Yes, I know that I should just spend the extra money and upgrade a KTM with the BRC500 kit and then add this controller.

    Great video Kyle! I’ve been having an issue where if I change elevation drastically on a ride without stopping the bike starts to run poorly and I get a dead spot when I crack the throttle and it bogs down for a second and then wakes up. Do you know if this new ECU recalibrates more often for altitude changes? Thanks again for providing this information, very helpful.

    Like to see an in-depth review of the GET ECU, trying different maps with trying an arrangement of different ignition curves and fueling combos.
    Bought the GET ECU to fix stalling issues and 1/4 throttle stumble. The GET ECU transformed the bike.. kinda has a SX type of response now. Like to dial it down a bit. Tried richening the bike up a bit more. Didn’t really work. Wondering about changing the ignition timing.

    I'm confused about fuel tuning. RPM seems to be scaled for a 4 stroke. A 2 stroke isn't even going to get to 10k so at least on third of the settings are useless. Am I understanding this correctly?

    This is really the wrong video to post a comment about buuuuut.... I’m a beginner rider and I’ve been riding a 1973 Kawasaki f7 175 (2 stroke) for about a month now and I feel I’m getting the hang of it really fast. I’m still not used to the whole racing techniques such as down shifting in corners and stuff like that but just basic riding, shifting, balancing is all super easy for me already and I feel like I’m picking up on it fast. Now I was already planning on getting a newer bike (2005+ or something like that) around the end of this summer and since I’m 2 months away I’ve been studying a lot. Now I’m kinda stuck on Yamaha and ktm because of models/reviews/company goals. For availability I like the yz250f because a 2007 model is nice and cheap and anything 2007+ there are few of. I’ve heard a lot of people telling me I should get a motocross bike because they make good trail bikes and I might ride a couple motocross tracks but I really like trail riding and I don’t know about motocross. Now if I were to go full trail bike (250cc+) Yamaha only offers the wrf and the yzfx. Both aren’t very available near me and the yzfx is expensive because it’s rarely new. Now I’ve looked at KTM’s and it seems like they are setting their sights on making 2 strokes and trail bikes. I don’t really care between 4 stroke or 2 stroke so even though most of ktms trail bikes are 2 strokes it’s still awesome with the trail bike options.. With all of ktms trail options it’s great but I am very intimidated by what I’ve been hearing about newer 2 strokes. I’m not sure if my old bike has a wide power band and I just don’t notice it but everybody tells me any 2 stroke that is a 250 or over is going to *kill me*. Is this true because I don’t even notice the power band in my old 175 2 stroke but with it being old the newer 2 strokes may have snappier power bands.
    I guess I’ll just stop rambling about what I have and haven’t heard and ask for some suggestions and helpful advice like an answer to the question (would a 250 2 stroke be that hard to handle?) if anybody got through that whole thing thank you so much and I would love to hear from anybody with advice.

I would be disappointed if I had to do a 900$ upgrade to get it right.............I have 614 miles on my 300 and it's the best bike ever for the canyons and single track that I ride. AA enduro trails are made easy on my 300. I am amazed every time I ride it! I have the mapping set to full power and that's where I am leaving it. If you want to see what I subject my 2019 KTM 300 XC-W to just check out some of my ride videos...............100% stock except the FMF spark arrestor and protective parts. I even have it plated, although I rarely ride it on the street.

      @ggalex06 5 років тому

      Mark, did you find on your bike that the effect of the map switch is backwards from the old Kokusan ignition? That has been my experience on my 19 TE300i, that 2 on the switch is pepier when the manual says 1 is "hot" map.

    • @markrael1684
      @markrael1684 5 років тому

      On my bike there is a plug under the tank that is either race, or mild depending if it's plugged in or unplugged. I forget the exact wording, but I prefer to have mine in full power mode.

    • @ggalex06
      @ggalex06 5 років тому

      @@markrael1684 Do you get full power mode with the wires or plug connected or open?
      The KTM/HQA bar switch is - I believe- open in 2 and closed in 1.
      Mine runs stronger "open" opposite of what the book says. But it's a map selection activation, not a advanced/retard trigger like it was on the old Kokusan. So I suppose it's possible for the 1 and 2 maps to be loaded in opposition in the Continental ecm. Oh this stuff is deep.

    I have adjusted the power valve on my 2022 on my first ride, and sense have adjusted more but haven’t had a chance to ride it yet after the second adjustment.
    If the ECU is allowing he bike to run properly, is it a power valve adjustment that the 2022 needs, or doI need to add the Get ECU to get that crispness that my 2019 had.
