Great job! We'd love to do more if you dream up more medieval scripts. The cinematography, lighting, sound and post production really brought it all together. Love it.
I wish I lived in San Antonio, that place looks so amazing!
If I ever end up in that area I'm visiting the store. It looks like a great place!
Man I hate that I just moved to Colorado. I miss you guys at Knight Watch Games, one of the coolest stores out there.
Hey I actually come here a lot. Love Doormonster and Knight's Watch
So I'm curious, you guys clearly have tons of boardgames and do RPG's, but do ya'll host stuff for games like Warhammer 40k or Warmachine?
As a player, I laughed.
As a DM, I also laughed. But only on the outside.
**pats back** it's ok it's ok
yes
Nerd
. I mean... this is the channel for nerds
Yep.
Gotta love the sad knight.
"I'm a recovering alcoholic."
"I was imprisoned as a child."
"I once lost EVERYTHING in a game of cards!"
"My parents were eaten by a dragon."
He lost a game of cards to a dragon who ate his parents and made him a prisoner. After escaping he became an alcholic as his trauma was haunting
@@bradreed2001 more accurately would be that his parents imprisoned him. Some day a dragon came along and ate the parents and freed him this way. Though he never learned anything he became a drunkard and lost everything in a game of poker. Afterwards a knight found him and took him under his wing to make him a great man. To fulfill his knightship he than has to go travel and adventure and bring a reward to proof his quest and the success of it.
Good.
If you put them in order it all makes sense:
I was imprisoned as a child,
My parents were eaten by a dragon,
I lost EVERYTHING in a game of cards,
I'm a recovering alcoholic.
I feel sorry for the guy, but also glad he managed to turn his life around,
...just before defeating a dragon and being horribly sloughed by a band of outlaws for the treasure.
You're really leaning on that back story, aren't you? 😂
I like how they allude to the twist by mentioning how much it sucks that the barfolk have to stay cooped up inside all day! The DM is subtly hinting that this is a boring way to do the quest!
"And you guys can come with us!"
"If it gets you to shut up and move on with your life, we'll go!"
It's all over the place. I love it!
The DM subtly hints that he THINKS this is a boring way to do the quest.
If this was real, the DM might want to look for a group that fits his style of adventuring and the group should look for a more uh, townfolky(?) kinda gm.
But that's just my opinion.
As a DM, I can assure you, the best moments I had were when the players didn't do what I had planned (we were all friends prior to that, it helped too). Sure, it's annoying to see all your planning fo to waste, or some NPC you liked being completely ignored or even murdered immediatly, but in the end, it gives you the best stories.
I was running a game once, and there was a barkeep who was an ex adventurer and there was bounties posted for some thieves that been causing trouble in town. The players found the thieves hideout but didn't want to fight them so they taunted the barkeep and he went down there and killed all the thieves and did the side quest for them hehe. I thought it was a boring way to do the quest, but it was funny in it's own way and people enjoyed it.
"I don't know what I'm looking more foward to- learning about it's *detailed* history or..."
I thought there he might be a DMPC or something. Played it of as "that player" later, and now I know for a fact that I am a genius.
*DM! I DEMAND a reward for uncovering this myself!*
0:29 you rewatch this and realize it’s the DM being passive aggressive towards the players, who are spending all their time in the tavern instead of exploring the world he created.
One time I spent a whole month working on a detailed map with rich lore and background. The first party I ran it with essentially hung out in the player's base and only ventured out to do required quests, not even bothering with adventure hooks.
Sucks to be them; when I write campaigns side missions and events actually serve a purpose in the grand scheme of things instead of being a small distraction. So when they got to the final boss they were essentially charging in blind and half the party got wiped.
About a year later I dusted off the same campaign and ran it for _another_ group, who took the time to explore the world. While they took like 5x as long to explore the map, they explored the shit out of it and walked into the final boss fight knowing who the boss was and with a plan to take him out.
It goes to show that in a lot of campaigns, if you're careful and explore, you'll get tools or intel that helps later on.
Oh god I just noticed this.
I was looking to see if anyone else had seen that. They do it at 2:03 too.
@@trevoranderson7182 The problem there was both you and the players weren't on the same page, clearly they were interested in doing something else, so why did they have to go up against this boss? You haven't added any details as to why the players were out there fighting bosses, did they wan to do the mission or were they doing it because they had to?
but then...you don't dare try to nudge the players back on the path because then you get labeled as The Railroader. . .
Oh dear gods we did this once! When we killed the local crime boss we just took over his tavern, then started a franchise in which the only adventures we would go on were to expand our business and reform drinking laws to be more lax. Any real missions that turned up we just stuck on the bounty board and took a commision fee. The GM just gave up and turned it into a real estate game
*throws D&D rulebook out the window and buys 'Basic Economics' by Thomas Sowell and a monopoly guide*
"one day while working in the bar you get a letter saying your rich uncle who lived in a haunted house in the town of mayberry had died leaving you 2000 gold but you must stay in the house a full night to collect the dead before you can sell it ,rent it out or use it as an expansion on your buisness."
This is actually the best. Omfg. If this is real, that is hands down the best GM on the face of the planet. To give up on any plans he/she had and craft a game as the party willed it takes a master dedicated toward the desires of the party. I gotta tip the hat to the GM on that game.
If that's the way the players want to play, then the GMs got to support that or let them play a different game. But that sure is a funny thing, starting to play D&D and ending up playing tavern tycoon!
Tbh this is how Adventurer's Guilds were formed
"...learning about its detailed history..."
In retrospect, I should've seen the plot twist at that line. No real PC would give a rat's ass about the setting's history.
INTPTT I would, were it a truly well crafted world. I’m a sucker for details
Depend of the game. Tribe8 lore is a drug
my player in my EVIL campain do, for some reason
I’m a sucker for lore
@@CethIsADevil knowing lore to use it against your foes.
The players railroading the DM. I'll be honest, that's ingenious.
"My parents were eaten by a Dragon."
*"Good."*
That response just killed me.
It's a bard, he can get away with it.
"We -could- fight less generic monsters," says the DM.
"Nah, dragon, also with insane amounts of treasure," says PC.
Poor DM.
I tend to have the opposite problem.
What is a less generic monster? What makes it a less generic monster? And why is that better?
In the one and only campaign I have run I made custom enemy's with balanced stats, except I made them the most exotic enemy I could find on d&d wiki.
@PrimePal But you haven't answered my question. Everyone here is just talking about generic fantasy creatures and not saying what makes a dragon more generic than other the other generic fantasy creatures people are proposing as an alternative. Nor is anyone considering that the attempt to make something "less generic" might result in making something that the players don't connect or care about because it will be too bizarre or too at odds with the setting.
@@GeorgeMonet Think about, every big RPG or MMORPG game title have dragons in it. Most of the fantasy books have dragons in them. Even games and books that are not fantasy based have dragons in them.
It is generic because different settings have own unique creatures and dragons are overused everywhere often divided into different variations like Forest Dragon, Ancient Dragon etc.
Also it is the only creature that is known everywhere for having own treasure room and that is also why dragons are generic because all adventurers wanna lay their hands on all of that fancy magical items and gold.
That twist! I love it.

What twist? Uhh I got spoiled
Well played well played
A better plot twist than the last season of Game of Thrones
It kinda hints at it too
That reference to a different episode at the start was a nice touch

0:28 With the reveal that the "party" was actually NPCs and the bartenders were the actual party, I've just realized this scene was the DM's passive aggression made manifest.
That beginning call back to D&D: Diplomacy
HellsRaven4444 Actually it was DiplomaNcy. Easy to miss the N.
Diplomancy and Dubiousness?
My name is Greg and I've killed a chicken with a man!
Nice catch! I had to go back and rewatch it once I read this comment
my name IS GREG!
"The adventurers come back from killing the dragon"
"We kill them and loot them"
"Go ahead..."
*One TPK later*
"What the hell just happened?"
"Oh, right, forgot to mention, the adventure was worth about 8 levels of XP. Better luck next time"
Honestly, you'd think they'd be concerned about adventurers powerful enough to kill a dragon.
i think the plan is to coup de grace them while the party sleeps off a night of drunken partying in the tavern
"A dragon ate my parents!"
"Good!"
Oh my gods! xD
Chaotic Neutral in a nutshell.
The best thing is this is the dm arguing with himself
My favorite part of that was him trying not to smile as he walked away
Wow, did not see that comming. Well played ... well played.
*PARENTS ATE MY DRAGONS* wait... no... what.
This comment could probably be posted on every Door Monster video, and it would be true. Their punchlines are incredible.
Mister Apple I didn't want to spoil the ending so I made my comment this vague, and in turn it fits most of their videos.
It's true most of their twists are pretty well made.
MrDasbinich123 Well, I suppose that's a testament to Door Monster's great writing.
It is. :)
I might steal the "I'm too old and withered and mysterious" line for a future adventure.
All the hints about how generic and predictable it all was should have been enough to guess there was some twist ending but holy crap did I not see it coming. Well 'played'.
0:54 arm waves in front of the camera to switch the little cup into a big cup so Ethan looks small. Absolutely genius.
wait why did they switch the glass? it looks like the same size. It definitely swapped but I just don't see why?
@@XoIoRouge the glass had to look normal in the barmaid's hands, but massive in Ethan's hands
@@melissajanefletcher Ah... I rewatched it with that knowledge and damn that is a subtle touch. Good catch!
I've rewatched it about 5 times after reading this, and still se no change.
@@eric_moore-6126 Perhaps you should watch their perception video and try again.
Oh man, I did not see that coming.
I love how the DM came up with this whole group, complete with at least one deep backstory and some intra-party banter, just as fodder to the actual party's shenanigans.
You can just feel his frustration in the final scene
They are all his never to be played PCs.
My gosh. I'd thought that your videos were the highest quality, but this has surpassed all of your previous ones (and thus all the rest of UA-cam) by an order of magnitude. I don't think it will get on Trending, but it should. You guys are masters. Smiles all the way.
Thank you so much! :D It seems to be doing better than usual, so that's something. We're just glad everybody is enjoying it so much after all the work we put in.
I noticed the Johann Bornlof music, btw. No shade, of course; he's an amazing composer.
You know what? Yeah, the twist at the end of this _was_ above your already very high average.
Imma go share this to my old dnd group page now

Taverns are basicly unemploymet offices for PC's
Except that plot dictates your success rates to be unrealistically high.
Have your resume handy... I mean, character sheet.
Mark Foster well your character won't have their own character sheet, that'd be far too meta.
place full of alcoholics. Sounds like unemployment office to me
Here I was thinking “Wow, the DM should really just let the players explore and not force their way through the story.” But then at the end I was like, “Oh. Oh! Ohhhh!! That is good! That’s very good!!”
The dm's npcs are that detailed? including actually breaking the fourth wall in a way that a player would actually break them? This is the dm we all want but don't deserve.
+Devilbreaker When the DM is Ian? Yes.
As a DM, NPCs are my characters. I care about them just as much as players care about their characters. Not everyone has a backstory of course. And there are even NPCs that my group has never interacted with and they have backstory. I'm just glad that we live in a time and age where i can use a computer for filestoring. Imagine you would have an entire file-cabinet dedicated to NPCs in your house :D
"my parents were eaten by a dragon" "Good" gets me every time.
So I felt like there was an obvious flaw in this plan in that anyone strong enough to kill the dragon is going to be to tough to kill, but then I thought about poisoned food and ... nvm, this plan is pure brilliance.
Isn't it?
unless they have a paladin or a wizard able to purify the food...
Most adventurers assume that if you're buying food then it's safe.
i would probably have the players make a perception check to see if they notice that anything is off
@Ultimate Street Yacht Battle I know I'm late to the party but what you should do is have them make a constitution check after they've eaten the food to see if they survive unless they are paranoid and they always check their food for poison
When he said "I used to be the same", I was expecting that he would follow that with, "but then I took an arrow to the knee".
When you start with a good campaign, then you find out that your players are more interested in doing an evil campaign. Great twist at the end you guys. Keep up the great work!!!
Thanks so much! :D Glad you enjoyed!
Really great twist I was not expecting that at all.
2:02 She says: "And you GUYS can come with us..." She is speaking to the old man but it's hinted that it's intended for the party. This little scetch has more foreshadowing than entire Sixth Sense!
That was amazing love that plottwist
That twist was, indeed, amazing.
Yeah, I was watching on my phone and had to laugh so hard it droped almost in my mouth. That's what I call entertainment ^^
We should have seen this coming since the halfling comments on discovering the lore and mysteries of the town. Most players just want to punch the dragons head of
Ethan telling the rest of the party about Diplomancy was an early hint that he was actually played by the DM
The tavern, Ah yes. the one place everyone is convently at for no good reason.
Much like a real pub, most people have no good reason to be there.
At least in these cases they're needed there to drive the plot.
Where else would you get a drink in this godforsaken hellhole.
To be fair, where else do you hang out in medieval times? It's the most entertaining place.
Alcohol is always a good reason.
Shaun Cheah and boobs
She had her fingers in the drinks...
lol this bothers me every time I watch this :D
First you notice the fingers in the drinks, and then you notice the fake ears and how some aren't aligned with the real ear so it looks weird, and on others you see the adhesive keeping it in place. And you can't just ignore it.
was looking for someone to say this
@@tortex1 Boy I sure hope somebody got fired for that blunder!
@@eater_of_garbage_ If it were an actual for profit company making these... it would be very boring so we wouldn't even watch it to notice.

It's so clever
"Too bad the staff are all cooped up in here and can't go exploring such a storied locale"
Jack Madscientist “ why don’t you come along with us.”
And etc.

Hobbit?
Trotom7 haha yeah
+Gunja Fury Halflings were called Hobbits in the original game, but they had to change it due to copyright reasons.
This skit gets even better on rewatch knowing the twist.
1:56 the DM trying to pull the party back into an actual adventure, and 2:10 is their reaction once they’re shot down.
That is at the same time the worst plan and the best plan to ever have been devised by PC's.
Many plans by PC's are simultaneously the worst and best plans made by PC's... look up old man hendrickson if you wanna see someone WIN a call of Cthulu game by singing the Canadian national anthem at just the right time
Clearly you've never seen Old Man Henderson in action.
The Tale of Old Man Henderson is the greatest story of our generation
1:33 *first time watching* wow, what a creative DM -_-
*second time watching* wow, what a creative player -_-
Me: Hmm I wonder who's playing the old guy?
Me three minutes later: OF COURSE ITS FRIGGING KYLE
How many videos is Kyle not in?
I thought that was Allison's grandfather.
How about that Weather (unless he is the radio contact), Both Zoo and Rollercoaster tycoon videos, World Congress, doing something about Ghandi, and was only a prop in "Murder, he noted".
This is harder than finding DoodleConn.
Just the one's I immediately recalled. But that would make sense given that Door Monster is Kyle's business.
So wait if everyone but Ghandi was there and Kyle wasn't there then.... Kyle was Ghandi!
"So then the guard says, 'My god, my name is Greg!'" perfect reference.
I mean sure, that's a roundabout way of getting your quest done..... And I've suddenly fallen in love with these characters....
Watching it again almost makes it better knowing they’re being meta because the DM is trying to get them to leave.
My parents were eaten by a Dragon, GOOD. that one guy who changes backstory every time
I'll be honest as the sketch went on I was thinking "This is not as as funny as the previous d&d ones" but then came the plot twist and it was genius. Keep up the good work you guys are awesome
"too bad they're couped up inside all day instead of exploring" is the kind of sentence that makes somuch more sense the second time watching
I love how the DM is actually trying to get the players go on the adventure. Brilliant writing!
I too played a MOBM (Mysterious Old Bearded Man) in a Discword game once, it was glorious.
I sent NPCs on stupid quests to retrieve rare artifact that I then sold at twice the price I had got them. Notably I got the first wooden sword of Cohen the Barbarian, that I sold back to a fan.
That's capitalism for you
Aw thar sounds awesome maybe I should look into the discworld p&p
GURPS Discworld awards you for economic thinking and the ability to settle compromises between musical traditions.
I've tried watching this while imagining all of the NPC lines actually being said by an increasingly frustrated Ian DM, and I have to say it seems spot on. Fantastic sketch!
I like how if you rewatch it there are heavy hints about the end at the start
All their videos are like this. It's amazing.
Yeah, no *real* player character gives half an orc testicle about the history of the place they get their drinks from
Man, I think this is the 'smartest' video Door Monster has ever made.
It gets better after the first time you watch it.
I guess Kyle is channeling his inner spirit animal, The Hobo, To con these poor adventurers.
Topical! I like it.
Rewatching this after the filmschool episode "making a hobbit" and noticing the reflection of the greenscreen on the table.
It is amazing how much work Kyle put into this one scene. True dedication to the art!
My favorite part is the little smirk Ethan gives as he walks away from the table at 2:25. It just perfectly shows how happy he is with this bit!
The drink carrying technique at 0:49 where the fingers are dunked in the drinks, the true BBEG here
And yet again my expectations are exceeded in all the best ways haha.
same tbh
Which is the standard. And this is because every time they ensure that the punchline and the directions of the sketch are mutually orthogonal.
This reminds me one epic quest in Shadowrun RPG (cyberpunk setting).
Our group ocupied small ruined church and made it our local base of operations. Of course given location of that church and that is in Barrens (outskirts of city where all trash of city and worse live) inevitably we got rat problem in our house.
As in devil rat problem. Turned out that month into living there we found out that deep under church (in remnants of sewerage) there is huge nest of giant mutated poisonous rats who started to move slowly upwards when they realized that we live there.
We have no idea what kind of quest or solution our GM had in mind when he sprung this on us. Because out first reaction was "Fuck no, we are not going down there into those cramped tunnels to fight agains endless horde of giant rats". So we looked up some crazy doomsday cults around, picked best one for our purposes and send them falsified photo depicting Artifact related to their cult sitting right in middle of that rat nest along with some convincing mail.
Well result were so amazing that in 45 minutes three schoolbuses (of course gangstered out) full with crazy cultist armed with everything fron knives and chains up to homemade flamethrower arrived to our church and without asking for permission rushed inside and through entrance in cellar went directly towards that rat nest.
For next 6 hours we heard noises of combat from below before silence came. When we heroicly send scout to check it out (cheap expendable drone) all we found is that cultist died, most of rats died and those which survived no longer scurried arround since they had ton of food in their nest for the time being.
Problem solved, quest completed :-D
KInda reminds me of my first reaction when i played D&D with some friends and we got a quest from a King. "Can we kill him and keep his stuff ?"
This started a wonderfull campaign of setting fire to villages we hadnt previously been to, evading arrest whereever possible and just in general being psycotich ... one of the best campaigns ive ever played.
Sounds like your GM was a cool guy :) Props to him for letting something like this happen.
Murder hobos then.
Autumn Carter I mean, it's a pretty standard 'first reaction' to go murder hobo.
I bet he had this heroic tale that he wanted it to turn into, but nope everyone's a psychopath
Eatenjaguar98 the best Type of GM will take those murder hobos and twist the tale into something worthwhile. Maybe even having the party redeem themselves. As a long time GM, I've never had a group where if they meet up once a week, continue their rampant murder hobo ways. Especially of you dangle tantalizing bits of story/progression for them.
That’s the greatest twist I’ve ever seen in anything ever.
I wonder if anyone ever has played a game where they where the quest giving towns folk... could be interesting.😃
Fort_Master there's a mobile app that plays like that. You're a merchant and you hire hero's to get you ingredients for crafting. It's nothing too special though.
PaleGhost69 care to give us a name for that game?
As a DM i had this “special“ group, which always ignored every monster and just tried to get as much money as possible, from stealing the poor peoples money .
They even once decided to not rescue one of the other players and instead set the house he was hold hostage on fire...

i seem to notice that kyle has several loony characters that he plays to perfection. should we be worried?
Yes. Here, take this twenty sided dice. If you roll fifteen or higher, you'll instantly learn one defensive spell but if you don't, then you'll be transformed into a Goblin. Good luck!
I got a Galactic Republic symbol, what's that mean?
accidentally hit by teleportation spell sent to a random star trek universe roll 6 sided die to see which series 1:star trek original series 2: next generation 3: deep space nine 4: voyager 5: enterprise 6: re-roll NOTE: upon arrival immediately roll for knowledge sci-fi high roll results in confusion over why a galactic republic symbol sends you to star trek.
He tries to get his friends to go on a fun if a bit stereotypical quest and they outsource all of his plans to in-game NPCs who will inevitably die because the quest is not made for them. Truly a pitiful reality we live in.
Great vid btw

Doesn't he, though?
This was fantastic yo
I love the twist, this really stood out as one of your best :) and you have some bloody good pieces of work behind you.
Thank you! :D
one time me and my party got into a bar fight and "accidentally" killed the old man in the corner, oops
It took me until now to see Ethan trying not to lose it at 2:27. This sketch just got even better somehow.
You know you've been watching too much Door Monster when a person's face is almost completely covered and you can still recognize said person.
In my experience, there is no such thing as "too much" Door Monster.
I was shook by how amazing the setting was. imagine my shock when it was someone's shop.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
That TWIST!!!
The beginning is great. "My god.. My name is Greg!"
I can relate so much. my party tends to kill every NPC and questgiver with which I am trying to keep them on track.
MinerMax555 But think of all the cool stuff you're missing if you don't :(
Maybe you should try a more "Sandbox" kinda play style, where your heroes can roam free. I, as a player and a GM, don't really like those pre-written stories that heroes are forced to go through. I usually design a newspaper page and the group can decide on what to do. Then they have to travel there. Do the thing, but other quests they didn't tend to might escalate into bigger problems.
Chron I normally do that. quest givers and quests themselves normaly got invented a few minutes ago.
I see you have been afflicted by the curse of the murder hobos.
There's two ways to deal with murder hobos: you either give them free reign or you make them face consequences. The newspaper idea is a good example of the latter, but if they're really stubborn, don't be afraid to say "okay you just assaulted a guard in the middle of the biggest city for three hundred miles. You are now faced with him and his twenty colleagues that each have murder in their eyes, cop-killer." As DM, you don't have to always stick to all the encounter rules because it's 'fair,' sometimes a good story and fun experience is more important.
Giving your players more freedom in how they want to deal with situations is certainly the more easy way, but personally I feel that the lack of a clear goal (other than "some men just want to see the world burn") can get old pretty fast.
Finally, as an extension of the example given earlier, turn it into a bad guys campaign. 'Chaotic good' only goes so far to describe someone's murderous tendencies. Use your story to let your players know that if they go full evil, they should expect to have to deal with the good guys. Who knows, maybe they'll enjoy stickin' it to the man on a more official level ;)
1:29 "I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took decades of aging to every single part of my body"
This is amazing. It is so relatable, my dungeon master forced us to find a wizard by making there be 60 million of them.
The sound effect whenever the tavern keeper pops up is a great touch.
When they made a comment about learning the lore, I knew something was off. Players never care about the background. :(
Excuse me as a long running DM and part time player I always make sure to read about things like Towers deities.... So I have the option of praying to Ember the god of genocide and causing a tpk whenever I want.
This is now one of my new favorites, as the banter from the npcs makes the whole episode 100% better after you know the punchline
I love this more traditional sponsorship
Yeah, we really enjoy when we get to work with small businesses like this! We always legitimately like the places, the video works out well for everyone involved, and it's always a lot of fun working with new people and locations. We still hang out at this place all the time.
or even just interstate, for the most part
I think plotting to kill an adventure party that succeded in killing a dragon would be a worthwhile affair.
The first time i played D&D started in a Tavern and i figured we were going to get a quest and go into the woods or something. Well as my character is talking to the bartender our dm says " you hear a loud crash and the splintering of wood as a half man half bird crashes through the roof cursing in abyssal" turns out that demons had decide to invade the city we were in
Half... bird?
Osmorosvo ya my DM knows most of us have memorized the monster manual so she makes custom mosters to surprise us, this one was discribed as a large man with bird legs, wings, and head stiched on. It was supposed to be the general of the army it was supposed to wipe the floor with us but we rolled great ended up killing it at first level when we were supposed to beat it at 3rd or 4th level lol
We got lucky the demon wasted the first round trying to charm my character, i resisted it, then on the second round our druids wolf companion tripped and grappled it so it had to break grapple before it could do anything. So we got two rounds to wail on it before it got a chance to attack and we both crit on the first attack did almost 30 damage and then i crit again on the next round as well. Then when it gets up it hits and ko's the wolf so it wouldn't trip him again but then we took him out next round. Found out after the game that he had a demonic great sword that did 2 d10+1 and then his strength mod of like +7 on a hit which would have one shot any character on a hit with min damage
@@spencergreen3581 everyone has less than 9 hp?
@@isaiahf-d846 pretty much, we were 1st level. I had the most at like 10hp
"You could come with us!" Oh you WOULD want that mister DM
That cup-grab by Ethan was a fantastic piece of video wizardry. I see you, knight's arm moving conspicuously in the foreground!
Nice catch ;)
Ian's face in the end really reminds me of our DM's reaction when my group decided we wanted to ignore his campaign and go be pirates instead.. Great video guys, seems to have earned you a lot of subs this week!
This reminds me of game we played back in the day. Commoner, expert, and other such classes were the only allowed. It was awesome.
0:01 Someone is here drinking a mug in the foreground and yet... 0:54 "That guy is the only one here". Where did the other guy go?
Okay they are Geniuses just plain and simple Geniuses this is the most amazing setup for a game ever.
One campaign I played had us start out as the level nothing npc's in a nowhere important town. Then the adventurers died in some haunted forest. There seemed to be a zombie apocalypse, so we had to go back in time long before we were even born. At some point two of our group disenchanted a pact stone that was keeping an evil Fey lord at bay. After making several new pact items to fix the Fey problem, we broke into a prison for psions. Then we headed to the mountains where we figured we might have to steal from a particularly powerful king. All the while we were searching for the blade of a very talkative holy sword... I love D&D.
I expected the knight to say I was imprisoned as a bartender
The piles of dice at the end was the most beautiful sight I have seen in months.
The Metatron has spread its wings!
lol
Aye, looks like I'm not the only one to notice!
Knew I heard that somewhere! Thanks for getting the bug out of my head.
0:55 That effect with the glass right there was cool. Good job
My god, my name is Greg!
You! You Fiend! How could you commit such a vile abomination as killing a chicken with a man!
Are you sure? I believe you called yourself Dan yesterday?
Wait a minute.... You're dead!
Shouldn't your god know your name already?
vrana312 Please, that one's far too busy to remember all their believers' names.
I love the throwback to diplomancy at the start.
I liked that twist at the end guys. Good job.
Thanks!
I have watched this for the fourth time and I finally picked up on the DM's fustration with his players. He has the characters talking about the right history and culture, the beauty of the city, and compelling stories to try and get his players to get up and leave the bar to take on quests themselves. However it doesn't work, and the DM just gets more fustrated with them as time goes on.
Unlike most people, my characters never spend a lot of time in the Tavern
Because just like me, my characters tend to be kicked out
That ending is one of the funniest comedic twists I've ever seen. I thought this video was a little derivative in it's play on how D&D NPC's behave, but that twist had me legitimately laughing.
Also, the editing in this video was top notch. Truly professional stuff, it feels a whole other level above previous videos.
